I stopped in first to see how they operate and to ask a few questions. As I waited to be helped, I was able to watch and listen to them attend to a customer. Polite and professional. Customer was very happy. Niki was behind the desk. Friendly and reassuring with all my questions answered. Was happy to learn a discount for my second pet would be given. We set up an appointment. I have two fluff balls, they were due for their exams and vaccines. When I arrived there for the appointment, Niki was there again. Friendly and even remembered my name. Prompt and on time took my girls, and said the Veterinarian would call and explain there exams and findings. Alittle over an hour later I received a call... He was very patient in explaining about each of my kittys. And took the time to answer a few questions that arose. I learned both my kitty's are considered obese. Sushi a bit more than Saki. They enjoy eating too ! I highly recommend this location. It was very clean and surprisingly could not tell they had animals there at all, very fresh inside. They handled my girls with care and affection. ( how I know? my kitty's are indoors, they have had very little contact with others due to traveling the states with me. Their personality hadn't changed at all - in the pass at these appointments, they would seem a bit off for 1 day or 2)... ...............so with that being said, don't give it another thought...if you furry friends are in need ...heres the place !!! August 2020 - COVID Review: I was fostering two kittens through a local animal rescue and they had contracted with all Banfield locations for the vet care. This location was the closest to my house. The two kitties unfortunately came down with a bad case of upper respiratory infections / cat colds. They were both seen by Dr. Michael Bissell. With COVID, their front doors are locked so once you arrive, you call to check in and you speak with a nurse/tech to give the medical background. The nurse comes out to pick up you pet(s) and they give you a phone call later to let you know when to pick them up. I appreciated how nice the staff was with the whole experience! I had to call to ask some additional questions once we got home and was able to get some time with Dr. Bissell, who was very kind. I even got a follow up call the next day from the staff to make sure everything was okay with the kitties and their medicine. read more

Everyone at this office is incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional. Niki, Rosie and Dr. Moradian have been superstars with my puppy, Callie. Niki is always upbeat and cheerful when answering the phone and in person. Both Niki and Rosie are incredibly reassuring. I always know Callie is in good hands with Rosie and Dr. Moradian. I have a banfield closer to my home in Woodbridge, but this is the only office I've been to that truly treats my girl like their own family. read more

I live in Gainesville but drive to Clifton because this hospital cares for my babies so well. This morning, my baby Pomeranian tripped and hurt himself badly. I was in distress and called the hospital around 7:30am. Nikki (my favorite) knew who I was when I called and told me to get here safely. Upon arrival, he greeted Leo and I with concern and care. He's always helpful, but today he added extra compassion and I need it. I'm thankful for this location. Great staff, friendly and always kind. As a follow up, My gf who rarely gets frustrated finally decided to recently change from banfield due to my suggestion as she complained each time. They'd require multiple tests, blood draws etc just to get the basic drugs. And even when all of that was done, she'd have to call multiple times to get them to call in the drugs. Banfield kept suggesting things for the dog he'd already had I mentioned centreville animal hospital which she changed to and she just commented how she loves the two doctors there. They already know all about the dog and called in the drugs in one call suggesting tests but not requiring them. I'm sure there are other good local animal clinics but we've found Banfield is not one of them. read more

This is the first time i've ever taken my cats to a vet other than the ones they've seen their whole lives and i felt so at ease trusting the fine people hete! Niki at check in was just so helpful and kind to both myself and my cats, i knew they'd be looked well after. Been taking our 2 dogs here for some time now. Today was probably the worst vibe I've gotten from the person that assisted me over the phone. She was not able to answer any of my questions without an attitude. In the end, I've left the call with simply nothing but a disappointing taste in my mouth. Perception is everything and we hope this will be addressed. Dr L is great, she is newer but we loved her from the start. She is also on maternity leave atm. Perhaps it's time to explore other locations until she returns. read more

I work at an animal hospital and as a vet professional, they are by far one of the hardest hospitals to get ahold of or get medical records for clients. The CSRs (most but not all) give off the impression that we are bothering them. They will put you on hold multiple times (pick up the phone and place you back on hold without saying a word). They should understand that all the hospitals and clinic are in the same field and need records in a timely matter. This particular location always gives us trouble. read more

I recently adopted a rescue mixed breed dog and have visited the hospital thrice with my little boy for his medical review and shots. The staff has been very patient and gentle with my nervous little Chewie even as he struggled to break free to avoid getting his shots. As Chewie has a bad case of separation anxiety, I was glad that they were willing to babysit him after his appointments so I can make a quick grocery run at Giant supermarket. read more

I spoke much too soon when I wrote the previous review, and I'm embarrassed to be writing an update so soon after writing my original review. Nicky has been struggling with unrelenting GI issues for over a week. Last Saturday, I was advised to send out for a fecal test through an outside lab, and that the results would arrive by Tuesday morning. I literally only agreed to this under the guise that we'd receive results Tuesday morning. As Nicky's condition worsened significantly over the weekend, I anxiously awaited the exam results so we could proceed with a different treatment plan. It's worth noting that I called multiple times over the weekend as her condition worsened, and each time they dismissed me saying "Sorry there's nothing we can do!" Tuesday morning came and went, so I called and asked. When they told me (with disdain, like I was bothering them for asking about what I paid for) they hadn't arrived, I broke down in tears. Another day and sleepless night passed and her condition continued to decline. It was obvious I needed to get her to see somebody, but I KNEW I wouldn't be taken seriously at this location, and I didn't want to risk going to a different Banfield for a similarly frustrating, meaningless & expensive experience. Countless vets on Vet Chat told me she needs to be seen ASAP and needed more aggressive treatment. Eventually, I decided I needed to switch vets completely after some advice from other pet lovers noting their similarly terrible experiences with Banfield. Luckily, I had experience with a wonderful local vet that I should've chosen in the first place. The difference was night and day; I learned that vets should actually speak to you, walk you through treatment options, and ask you questions & figure out what's going on with your pet together. Almost immediately after our appointment with the new vet, Nicky improved astronomically and I'm seeing more improvements as time goes on. To be clear, I know veterinarians have been overworked and overwhelmed with appointments and work during Covid-19. Dr. Ferguson is not who I take issue with, as the one time I spoke with her she was very informative and lovely. I take issue with the dismissive vet techs who refused to take my poor dog's condition seriously, and hung me out to dry over and over again, with Niki being the only person who ended up going out of his way to request results from the lab again, and the others simply wrote me off. I regret not doing more research before choosing Banfield, as now I still have to pay out the rest of the year. I don't care, though, as now I finally have a vet team that truly cares for my pup and keeps her safe and loved. I'll reiterate: after switching, I immediately received compassionate care and I *actually* felt like they spent some real time looking at Nicky. The difference is night and day. At the end of the day, I'm kicking myself for signing up for Banfield; other vets offer similar wellness plans and have staff that will actually listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and care about your pet. My biggest regret is that I now have to continue to pay out my Banfield plan through the rest of the year, and I absolutely hate to give any more money their way. Pay attention to the other reviews of this location and others--heed their warnings and mine, because I didn't and now I'm literally paying the price. read more

I wish I had the option to give this location a negative star rating. I took my dog into this location to have a decayed molar removed. She left with two additional front teeth completely broken off due to their negligence. The office manager actually had the nerve to laugh as my dog lay bleeding in my lap and permanently disfigured. If you treat your pet as one of your children, as I do...DO NOT USE THIS VET. I wish I had the option to post pictures of the damage they caused, they speak volumes. Dr dasari is the worst. I took my dog on friday for vomiting and diarrhea. He hadn't been eating since thursday. My husband and i suspected he had eaten something and we wanted x rays on him. Dr dasari examined my dog and diagnosed him with pancreatitis. Said we were giving him to many treats and fatty food. We told him this was not the case and that we thought he had eaten something he shouldn't have. He said after his examination he didn't have "signs of an ingested foreign body" and sent us home with a prescription for nausea, the name of a very expensive brand pf dog food and a $400 bill. Fast forward to today, we had to put him down. He had eaten pennies which are very toxic on dogs. He should've listened to us, but he didn't. Please don't take your pets to banfield. They do not care about them, they only want your money. update 7/5/16 After I posted this review, i was contacted by a costumer care representative who apologized and had Monica, manager at Clifton's location, contact me. She was very apologetic and understood our situation better than anyone. They ended up assuming responsibility for what happened and took care of all of our bills and more. I would not come back to another Banfield hospital (personal preference, my other dog was a patient at their Fair lakes location and had to put her down a month after Lenny). Please never take a no for an answer. You know your dogs better than anyone! It could save thir live! read more

I almost hate to write this review because I'm afraid as word gets out about how good this new pet hospital is, it will become harder to get in for appointments and walk ins. Every time I have needed to have one of the dogs seen, they have been incredibly accommodating and flexible to get me in at the soonest opportunity. Most of the time, I have been able to get a same day appointment. All of the staff are fantastic and competent. They treat my dogs as the family members they are. The regular vets are incredibly practical and always give my dogs far more attention than I had expected. They also have been far more sympathetic to my big-boned (that's my story and I'm sticking to it) lab regarding her weight. She has been struggling with some joint issues lately as well as some older dog issues. My most recent visit was incredible. Everyone treated Yoshie the way I want Yoshie treated. Cara at the front desk was welcoming and interested in her. Rebecca was extraordinarily friendly but highly professional and capable. Dr. Walsh gave a far more thorough exam than I expected and gave me the best understanding of how to monitor my dog's health I have ever gotten from a Banfield vet. He gave me very practical advice and a treatment plan that gives me confidence that Yoshie will thrive. I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am that this facility is here. I hope it thrives and is hugely successful l but I guess I'm hoping the secret doesn't get out as to how good they are. Then everyone will start coming to this hospital. read more

The place is fairly new (established earlier this year). It's clean, quaint and the staff is SUPER friendly! I actually brought one of my dogs is for an anal gland expression and ended up with a new vet. We've been with Banfield before in Alexandria and I wasn't all that impressed with the customer service or even the treatment of my dogs while they were in their care. But this location with this particular staff, I have to say is beyond reproach! The ladies there were so super awesome and took a genuine interest in my dog Winston. Winston has anxiety about the vet so as soon as they came to get him, he was hiding behind me shaking uncontrollably. I usually ignore him to make sure I'm not encouraging the behavior or usually I just leave the room so they can take him. In the lobby of this Banfield, the vet tech took her time, talked to him and was able to grab him with no issues. When he came out, he wasn't shaking or panting, instead he was running and jumping and sniffing! This is such a rare instance for him. Winston actually had an appointment booked in the next few weeks to get his shots and the vet said he had time now so we went ahead and got him taken care of. Again, he went to the back and came out for the second time with no issues. I'm taking my other dog next week to get him an exam so we can officially switch vets! read more

Dropped off my new 10 week old puppy for first visit- second round shots, deworming, and overall check up. Drop off was scheduled for noon and was told pick up would be 4 or 4:30pm later that day. No call back so I showed up at 4:20pm. Was told they had not seen my pup yet! When I asked why I was told I selected drop off (despite being told 4/430 pick up) and then more dogs were before my pup? Then I was offered to wait 10 minutes (4 1/2 hours but the actual service only takes 10 minutes???), come back in 2 hours or take the dog now with out being seen. I took my dog and will never use this company again. No phone call, no update, no apology, and no follow up. I even went in the next day to pick up paper work I had left and still no acknowledgment of their extremely poor service. My poor puppy sat at the vets for 4 1/2 hours- exposed to who know what. When I got her outside whe had the longest pee ever. And she appeared low energy. Most likely traumatized by this awful experience. Go elsewhere!!! read more

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. My beloved dog got diagnosed with diabetes. He had to do at home treatment. They didn't give us any needles to inject him. He was doing treatment for a while, and he was getting worse to the point he became blind we then noticed the insulin they prescribed him was EXPIRED a year before . Once we complained they didn't care and still charged for a new correct bottle. It was too late for my poor boy he was no longer the same and was getting worse and worse each day. His body was rejecting the medication and his temperament changed. He was 13 years old but still acted as if he was a puppy. He was always active and never rejected food or people. That all changed. He use to be so happy filled with life, but his sickness got to him and made him depressed and weak. Unfortunately my poor boy went over the rainbow way too soon. I strongly believed if he was prescribed the correct medication in the beginning he would still be here. read more

Lowering the review after our last visit. The Dr we loved so much has moved and we're not particularly happy with the new one. I feel like I was being sold something every second she was in the room rather than focusing on our addressing our very sick dog. The other staff was just as amazing as every other time, so I do not want to lower it too much. They deserve credit where due. Having a dog that is so panicky with having bad experiences prior, we were nervous to bring our dog in for an issue. Blown away with the what received for service, to the point our dog seemed calm, which calmed us. Our dog has surgery and when we picked him up the girls had even decorated his cast. The vet who met with us and did his surgery was just as great and we really like him. Plus it seems the surgery was successful. Really am happy with our experience. Wanted to compliment (believe it was Katie)for taking such great care for our dog and being patient with us. read more

Let me just say, it was a horrific experience! My kitten was so sick and did not stop vomiting. When calling the banfield hospital in Gainesville we found out it was already full but they were nice enough to direct us to the next available one in Clifton VA. I rushed him there and the receptionist was very nice at the beginning. Right away they took him in. When asking us what the issue was. My daughter replied he is vomiting a lot. She then asked how his vomit looked if there was anything that was suspicious. Of course my daughter said she saw a string in it. The receptionist right away came to me with numbers and each procedure that needs to be done would add up to couple hundred. I told her I wouldn't be able to pay that much so she made me open a credit card! She insisted in X-rays but it would be cheaper to do an ultrasound instead and that we can pick him up for the results. I was so surprised of the prices but of course our Mittens needed to get better. When picking him up the Vet told me I had to take him to emergency for further surgeries. She said he still has a string in his intestines which needed to be removed. I wanted to be sure of the charges and she gave me a possible estimate of over $3500. I broke down and started crying. How am I gonna be able to afford that?!! But she insisted we have to take him and she already had an IV attached to his arm for him being dehydrated from all his vomiting! I said I'm gonna take him home instead to bring him to a different Vet for a second opinion. She then calls me while I'm driving home just to make sure I had to take him to the urgent care! I said I'm not and she hung up on me! Yes the vet herself. After much consultations and more opinions my Mittens is his perfect self. Go figure!! I immediately called them up and asked for the ultrasound prints. After 2weeks of harassing them, they finally send the prints without any information or measurements! Of course I had to ask for the real prints. Again, the receptionist was trying hard to make me believe that those was our mittens prints. I usually don't post any bad reviews but this time it's about the life of my little kitten. These people are butchers! Just to make a couple $$. First off I want to say I drive 23 miles from Woodbridge to Clifton Banfield. All because I love the staff and the original Vet. Today was a very bad day for my pit bull Ginger and myself. Ginger had a scheduled Vet appointment for Lyme DIEASE prevention. Immediately The vet wanted to muzzle Ginger, she gave me every reason why I should agree to muzzle her during the appointment. Once the vet excused us from the room Ginger immediately began to have diarrhea and began to drool for about 15 minutes continuously. I believe the vet wasn't comfortable with my dog and if that was the case she should of stated that. I have never heard a complaint about my dog being aggressive. She attends training and is very friendly. I truly believe she was uncomfortable with Gingers breed pit bull. I will not be returning to this location. DEANNA is the best however!! If I could give no stars, i would. I've brought my puppy here twice and I gave them his medical records both times so they can input his vaccines into the system, but they never did. I don't know why they held his medical records if they weren't going to keep a tab on his medical history. They first had his weight wrong in his file and then they never put in his vaccine records into the system. Not to mention they NEVER pick up the phone. My puppy was in the ER and I had to call the Manassas Banfield so they can send his medication names to the hospital because this location NEVER picks up their phone. Also, don't bring your pet here because they do NOT take them to the bathroom EVEN IF the puppy is with them for 8 HOURS. My poor puppy immediately pooped and peed once we picked him up from banfield. He's only 2 months, he cannot hold it for 8 hours and I don't know why they don't have the brains to let a pet poop/pee. With how much they charge, the LEAST they could do is let your pet relieve themselves. Everyone here is so incompetent - from the receptionists to the vets. It's better to go to the Manassas location - at least they'll take care of your pet. read more

I have been taking my new puppy Josie to Banfield for the past year.The staff have always been friendly, and work hard to get Josie in as quickly as possible. The care she receives is loving and quality. Its nice to be able to see the same vets and the turn over rate is low. When we come in I am familiar with the vets and support staff, and they know us. On our most recent visit, they helped us with allergies and constant licking of paws. Josie and I got the best night sleep we have had in weeks. Let me start by saying I only went to this location because it's by my house and South Riding is 25 mins away which is where my dog (10 month old Labrador) usually goes. All he needed was a routine check up. My dog saw Dr. Haroon Ahmad and it was the WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A VET. He asked for the muzzle from the assistant before we even sat down. He went into the exam room and stood against the wall and did not even acknowledge my dog or us as owners. He immediately took the tool to look in my dogs ears. He already doesn't like his ears being messed with and the doctor pokes him and does not pull back. The asst. came back with a muzzle and I stopped her right away. He went to the other ear and same thing, my dog yipped very loud and the doctor couldn't care less. Keep in mind this entire time he's telling my boyfriend how to position the dog instead of engaging himself to do the exam. What we experienced today for a ROUTINE EXAM is something I would NEVER WISH on anyone ever. I will NEVER TAKE MY DOG TO THIS BANFIELD AGAIN!!!!! I read this doctors LinkedIn and found out he's only been a vet since 2012 and has been with 5 different vet offices in that period. I'm sure he's had complaints out the ass bc he's got ZERO bedside manner and doesn't give a crap about dogs. That was made CLEAR today. I hope his medical license gets revoked. I would never let him in the same room as my dog again. Period. read more

This Banfield at Clifton deserves no stars for customer service. I decided to finally not renew my membership, it was supposed to renew August 1, 2020. I paid July so I made an appointment to take my dog for her last covered vaccine that was due in July. The only date they had opened was July 30, which I thought was fine to have the final service with them. I arrived and the person who talked to me, I have no idea who she was because they called you once you are outside, told me that my plan ended on July 29, 2020 and I will need to pay for my visit. I explained to her that if I paid for July that it should end on the 31st or the 30th at the earliest but not 29. She was so rude and told me that she already spend too much time talking to me and she had better things to do. I left without getting the service. Banfield was good taking my money but when you pay a monthly service it should honor 30 days at a minimum. They never tell you that are 29 days service. It is all because I was not willing to continue with their HORRIBLE SERVICE. They are the worst. read more

Dr. Dasari was wonderful in caring for our sweet "Gabby" our precious Newfoundland was so very sick and he was very gentle, attentive, listened and even personally contacted us back when we had questions about her medicine. It was a traumatic time for us when we found out she was terminally ill, but Dr. Dasari really helped us to do what was best and make Gabby comfortable the last 7 weeks. We are very grateful for his care and the attention he gave to our dog and to us. Thanks to Dr. Dasari and the Clifton Bandfield for helping us through such a terribly hard time. I would've given them 5 stars before today, always nice and easy to get into...before today. My daughter was visiting from NY with her dog, who is also a Banfield member. Her dog appeared quite ill, thinking he may have an ear infection and she called to see if she could be seen only to be told not today or tomorrow but if she wanted to leave him for the day they might be able to fit him in. This is the reason I left Banfield for 2 yrs. because the Fairfax location when my dog was seriously ill with a history of pancreatitis told me they couldn't see him for 3 days. I had hoped this location would be better and always had great service, but it appears,to me all Banfields should stop calling themselves Pet Hospitals because they don't seem to do emergency services well. read more

I brought my five year old dog into the vet because I suspected she had a UTI. Since she was a puppy, my dog has had a history of UTIs. When I met with Dr. Ljluad, I explained the symptoms and asked for my dog to be prescribed Clavamox, which has always cleared up her UTIs. The doctor suggested doing a culture test on her urine (an additional cost) and also having an ultrasound performed to see if anything internally was wrong since she keeps getting UTIs. I explained to the vet that we had performed these tests already and they had come back negative. She told me she did not think these tests had been performed in the past because she could not find record of them in my pet's file. I explained the tests had been ordered by a vet at the Banfield in Chantilly, which we used to go to. She then proceeded to go through my pet's chart on the computer, several years, and stated again that because she did not find record of these tests she knew the tests had not been performed. I was able to tell her the prices of these additional tests because I had agreed to have them performed in the past. She stated she did not believe me only because the computer showed no record of it. At this point, I became tired of arguing with her, asked her to do the examination of my dog, so that we could leave. She did the examination of my pet and then explained she did not mean to upset me, but she knows my pet never had the culture exam or the ultrasound because the chart did not state it. My dog is my family, I know what tests she had had done and I have paper proof of these tests being performed. For this vet to argue with me and call me a liar, is completely unprofessional. I will never bring my pet to this Banfield location ever again. For me to be treated like that, after being a loyal customer since getting my dog in 2012, is not something I will put up with. This vet needs to be trained that technology is not always right. The results of the tests could have been lost in the computer system or maybe because of human error, they were not put in, but for her to question if I really had these tests performed for my dog, is ridiculous. read more

Dr. Thirumala Dasari was the vet that last treated Niles on 5/30/16. Niles was our 18 1/2 year old gray cat with white belly and paws. I needed to be sure he was in pain and that putting him to sleep was the right thing to do. I think, I needed Niles to hang in, more than he wanted. Dr. Dasari spent all the time I needed and answered all my questions. He listened to me as I explained Niles recent behaviors. He examined him carefully and was very gentle in handling Niles. Niles was still aware and scared of what was going on. He had a growth, possibly on his liver. I have felt it at times and I was in denial. Niles had not eaten from Thursday to Monday. He was drinking, but walking was getting harder. He lost some teeth and his eyes were yellow. Seriously, Dr. Dasari treated me in a sense, more than Niles. I knew I had to let him go. Dr. Dasari was assisted by Lauren who was equally kind and gentle with Niles. I wanted to do a review as I noticed on Yelp some that were not favorable. I started taking him there about 2 years ago and was always impressed by their care and service. I had gone to another facility for 20 years or with our cats, but never really connected with them. I also think they overcharged and invented ways to have me spend money. I liked the Banfield in Clifton and their staff. I also called in a few time this past weekend when Niles was declining and each time they answered all my questions in a very professional manner. They knew the cat was too ill just to travel for a well cat checkup. read more
