We booked an appointment after reading the great reviews. Showed up early. Receptionist had no customer service skills. After 40 minutes, another employee came out and told us they couldn't take us because of an emergency, and we would have to wait a very long time to be seen. First off, I would never want to stand in the way of another pet needing emergency treatment. However, they seem to have no back up plan for situations like this, and said they didn't 'think' things would get bad...couldn't even give us a heads up the entire time we were there. Very unprofessional. I pray for that dog to be ok but I wouldn't trust them to handle emergency for my own dog. read more

We've used Chantilly Animal Hospital on and off for many years, first for our aging dog and now for our high-maintenance puppy, whom we brought in during the summer of 2024. With his knack for getting into trouble, we've had several visits, and every time, Dr. LaTour and Dr. Ward have been amazing--professional, proactive, and incredibly caring. They take the time to explain everything clearly and provide thoughtful options for care. The follow-up calls to check on our pup are especially appreciated. Where to start. My parents have been coming here since we had cats in high school. During the pandemic I got a cat of my own and then I saw another cat who just looked sick and I ended up getting him because he needed some love. So I get this cat knowing he's EXTREMELY sick. I've had him for about a month now and he's already been diagnosed with a URI, bilateral ear infections, bacterial eye and throat infections, anxiety, allergies, worms, and herpes. We're currently looking into a middle ear infection and maybe a polyp. This cat can't catch a break! But thank goodness for Dr. Ward; he has been there every step of the way. I have a completely different cat than I did a month ago. He's playful, he's gaining weight, his eyes are opening, most of his infections are clearing up, he's started sleeping on my bed, and he is HAPPY. Everyone I've spoken to from there has been lovely and supportive and extremely knowledgeable. I will also say that while it may sound like they're trying to steal my money this cat is in fact VERY sick and my other cat only comes in when she has to get a shot or something and they never try to upcharge me or say anything is wrong with her. I'm so thankful that Luke is finally getting the love and medical care he deserves and that there are such wonderful people taking care of him! read more

Unfortunately, the service at our previous vet started to go down as they became overwhelmed (longer than average wait times, forgotten prescriptions, multiple reminders for appointments and/or refills that were already completed, etc.) so I decided to check out vets that were not only closer to home, but had stellar reviews as well. I liked the raving reviews for Chantilly Animal Hospital and inquired for appointments for both of my doodle dogs. They offer an wellness programs which include your pet's annual exam, various testing (fecal parasite, blood panels, urinalysis, heartworm and tick) annual vaccinations, and 20% off dental cleanings, surgeries, and microchippings, leading to tremendous annual savings and a happier wallet for this dog mom of two. I was able to schedule back to back checkup appointments for both of my dogs. With COVID, they currently offer curbside check-in and a vet tech will come to your car to bring your pet inside. The vet will give you a call with the status and to answer any questions that you may have. The front desk is also very responsive through email and text and always sends follow-up emails after appointments. Additionally, they have always sent my invoice right away via email which is helpful for pet insurance purposes (thanks to my employer for offering it!). I also didn't feel pressured with any upselling or pushed for any additional medications (they currently don't carry the brand of monthly preventive medications that we're using but they suggested that we use it up since we've already paid for it). As a vet?l, chantilly animal hospital is fine. I just want to add on to my previous review that you should probably stop advertising for grooming and boarding because I inquired about that just for future reference and the front desk lady literally told me that they don't offer grooming because they don't have a groomer and its the most basic boarding ever where the dog just stays in a crate and gets let out morning afternoon and night and that no one stays overnight to watch them. I would absolutely take that out of any marketing for your facility. read more

My dog has been a patient for over 2 years. I am beyond grateful to Dr. Tohill and the rest of the staff for handling an emergency with my dog Teddy. He was bit by another dog in the early afternoon, I called right away and they said come in, I am fortunate that I only live just a couple miles away. He was stitched up and ready to go home by 6pm, the same day. They took such great care of him, and were very kind to me, the frantic dog mom :) The vet tech explained everything that would be done, and Dr. Tohill called me after the surgery with a full report. When I was staying with a friend in Chantilly, my Yorkie accidentally punctured her eye on an ornamental garden fence. I had never been to CAH, but I called & took her immediately. Because of Covid, I could not go in, but the staff handled my baby with love, tenderness and concern. Thankfully, she was lucky and had no permanent damage, but the staff & vet came out with her, explained about antibiotics & keeping the wound clean. So far CAH has been great to our lil pup! Doctor B can really understand a dog. She'll make you feel comfortable about your visit and everything that may be going on with your animal. It's a bit of a drive for us, but well worth it when you are and your precious animal is treated right. They have a convenient fenced in pet relief area right outside as well as station with bags for easy pick up and disposal of any presents your pet may deposit on the hospital grounds. read more

The staff and everyone here are great. We had a great experience. They all practice super safe measures during this Corona Virus time, which I can truly appreciate. I felt very safe and I'm happy that I chose them to see my puppy. They were super sweet with my pup and they gave us really good information. Fortunately, I was able to get insurance for my pup but for those who can't, they have really nicely priced health plans that could probably help offset some routine wellness costs which you might incur during your pet's lifetime. When Bessie, Tilly, Mia and MomCat (ME) have to visit the awesome vets at this hospital, it is like going home. It has been a challenging time since the advent of Covid, but they have met it successfully with a secure entry process, yet remaining compassionate and focused entirely on my furbabies to determine what is currently making them feel miserable or just getting through a wellness exam. I am very appreciative of the steps these extremely knowledgeable vets have taken to lessen the worries we already have with our ill pets. I have been going to Chantilly Animal Hospital for years, and I love them. They are very personable, and you can tell everyone who works there is really passionate about animals. When one of my kittens was heaving in a bad way, I took her there just to find out she had FIP. They were very caring and loving towards her until the end. One of the assistants even gave me a hug, which was greatly needed at the time. Since getting our dog, we have been going there. He panics, but they are so warm that he is still shaking but relaxes. I also love that they have an app that helps me keep track of his immunizations and appointments. Love, LOVE this place. read more

I was searching for a new veterinarian since we moved back into the area. I was not happy with the staff and doctor at my previous veterinarian. This pet hospital is very close to my home and I saw they had good reviews. My mix breed dog is about 10 years old and needed a check up and grooming. They had no groomer on staff but were nice enough to shave my girl down and clip her nails and check her out. The receptionist was so nice and friendly and they did a wonderful job and followed all the safety measures for Covid. Its was a drop off and they let me know when she was ready. Our first visit required an exam and vaccine for 2 of our cats and they handled it with proper attention and personal care. I still don't like the idea of losing sight of your pets once they are delivered, but that is not anyone's fault during this Covid era. It is a busy operation these days with many pets to care for and staff did indicate that they handle many more dogs than cats. But the assistants and vet proved to be efficient and took the time to understand the concerns and issues for each pet and very thoroughly explained the results of their exam and options for care. I really like Dr. Tohill! He is very thorough and a great communicator. Although I've never met him in person, I trust him with my pets. One concern I have is that Chantilly Animal Hospital is more expensive than I expected - even more expensive than Caring Hands. Also, their website cites free first exams for your pets, but it only applies to your first pet. I would love for CAH to clarify their free offer on their website to match the clinic's intention. read more

My cat was having an urgent issue, and my usual vet was too booked to fit me in. I called Chantilly Animal Hospital to hopefully avoid having to go to an emergency care and they were able to see him right away, and provided really fantastic, thorough care, including pain meds to ease his discomfort. I've also seen Dr. Bingaman iwhen Dr. Toehill wasn't available on short notice. Both vets are amazing and go above and beyond. I can feel that they care about my dog and always look out for him. They don't try to upsell me or have me do unnecessary testing right off the bat. I really appreciate that. Also, the licensed vet techs and other staff are nothing short of amazing. I call with questions a lot and they dont make me feel like a pain in the butt. My dog has to get oral surgery soon and it's nice to feel comfortable with my vet and confident in their abilities. I brought my puppy here today to see Dr. Julia Nagel for his puppy shots and a few questions. I had previously gone to a vet hospital closer to my house, but after a not-so-fab experience, I wanted to go someplace where the vet would be knowledgeable, approachable, and acknowledge my concerns as legitimate (oh and say hello and introduce themselves when they walk in the room before touching my dear sweet puppy!.) So the hospital itself doesn't get 5 stars-- it's in a weird location and a little funky inside-- and the staff had the personalities of turtles. But Dr. Nagel was awesome and totally normal- she was bright, upbeat, friendly and knowledgeable. Turns out she sees patients at other offices too (part of northern va vet associates), so I will probably go to one of the other ones. She asked me about my puppy, how he was doing, what he was eating, if I had any issues or concerns, what training had we done, vaccines + fecal he'd already had, etc. She did a very thorough and careful exam, gave him his shots (with not so much as a whimper from him), and then talked to me about neutering, microchipping, vaccinations, nutrition,etc. I have figured out I'm officially one of "those" neurotic pet owners and I have definite opinions about specific vaccinations and feeding. Dr.Nagel was supportive of my decisions as a pet-owner, all the while giving me the facts and statistics regarding various options. Also, I'm feeding my puppy a raw diet and I have heard some vets freak out about raw diets-- but again, she remained nonjudgmental & professional. Dr. Nagel wanted to make sure the diet was complete and provided the necessary nutrition my puppy needs to be healthy. Overall, Dr. Nagel will be seeing us for years to come and I will send all of my friends + yelpers her way. Plus, my puppy adored her =) read more

This is by far and away the truest 5 star rating I have ever given. I'd have given this place 7 stars if it were possible. Dr. Toehill is an incredible Vet, who takes time to really make you and your pet feel comfortable. My family has taken three dogs and two cats to him. We've also taken two of the dogs, and both cats to other vets. Our previous Vet (where Toehill started working prior to his own practice) just left us with the feeling that they were more interested in charging you a few than the well being of the pet. Dr Toehill leaves you with the feeling that your pet is a part of his family too. The entire staff is very friendly and professional. It is readily apparent that they are all pet lovers. The only real complaint I have is that they are way out in Chantilly, which isn't convenient for me. But I don't think I can really fault them for this. read more

This is a hard review to leave because I think the vet himself was fine and friendly. The office staff on the other hand, not so much. I was a new customer and so while my first visit was okay (and I do appreciate the vet squeezing me in), I received a call the next day (today) that they had made a mistake on the billing. Then I received the wrong information about what could be done to fix the situation. Needless to say I think I will be finding another vet where the entire team is competent. Additional info: to add to the injury of this experience, I received a call 10 minutes before they were closing (and according to the desk agent they close on the dot) that my dog needed medicine from an intestinal parasite. I could not make it in 10 minutes and they were closed for a long holiday weekend, which meant if I was not able to get it elsewhere that it would have three days later when she would have been able to start taking her medicine. read more

I took my four cats to Chantilly Animal Hospital. At first, I was a little sad that I was just dropping my cats instead of going inside with them but a nice lady came to take my cats inside, and while I was waiting Dr. Ward called me and told me in detail about each cat. He took his time to explain in detail and that made me feel so happy. My cats are like my children so I really like the way Dr. Ward took care of my cats. The staff was also very kind and gentle bringing my cats inside and bringing them back to my car. After the visit, I had a concern about my cat and email the office, later that afternoon Dr. Ward called me and explained to me the concern I had. I loved that!
