I thought I had found the Vet Clinic for my 4 year old dog. My first few visits were awesome. Doctor and her staff were really good and informative. She diagnosed and a treatment plan was to give him a series of Adequan shots. I paid for 8 injections up front and then during this series of injections, there was a billing discrepancy. All over a the number of shots my dog received. I'm talking about one $67.35 shot! On my second to last time there, I went through it with the nice young ladies up front and thought we had it straitened out. Then, my next visit, the discrepancy came up again. They gave me a print out summary and it was all jacked up. Showing 2 shots given at one appointment, not showing another appointment and on and on. Then, the "Manger" (Hunter), came out with attitude (as he had in previous visits too). I feel like he went out of his way to make sure it was my mistake, not his (or the clinics), and have me corrected. I was upset and I asked them to refund me for the number of shots they believe I was owed. They refunded me for one less shot than I believe I had paid for. Then, they had the nerve to send me a certified letter saying they didn't want to do business with me!! LOL! As a customer/ patient, I think his persistence in saying I'm wrong and he's right about the billing is ridiculous! I'm the customer (it's not about the stupid $67). What's a shame is, it's not about the clinic and the majority of the staff, it's about one over zealous employee. read more

We brought our new rescue Hollie here because it was close. We were so impressed with how friendly the office is and love all the pets that come in the door. They talk to them and always are pleasant. Hollie loves to go to the groomer there too. Glad for a great vet office in the neighborhood! read more

Every staff member that we have contact with at Parkside is exceptional. The front desk ladies - all of them - love on our border collie Ana Macy and share their experiences and wisdom with us when we chat with them before or after our vet visit. Dr. Prill is my favorite vet and go-to with our fur baby. Our latest tech (Laura..?) is a real gem. We have epilepsy/ seizure issues. Parkside wants to help us manage this terrible disease and has been generous in their time and communications. Dr. Prill is a great listener and communicator, intelligent and articulate. We trust her. They are most interested in helping us and helping our furbaby. The personal follow up to our visits is appreciated. My previous vet, the nice small Animal Hosp of Park Glen, joined with the large Alliance Animal Health center on Heritage Trace, and since then we lost the relationship and affordability aspects. I lost confidence in the new vets we were seeing there, not happy with appt times and service, felt as though it had become a money machine (had to pay for that big new building and large staff with each visit.) Selfishly, we hope Parkside stays exactly as they are, as we are so happy and confident with them. We recommend Parkside to all pet parents for all their pet needs. read more

I brought my sick cat in on Monday and was told to give her some medicine. I was sent home with 2 different medications. One of them turned out to be too strong for her, so I brought her back in and was given new medicine in place for the one that was too strong. After 3 days I was charged again for a different medicine. I don't think that is right. I was told to keep the medicine being replaced in case I would need it in the future, but I bet if it came up I would be told that they would not be able to use that medicine and I would have to pay for it again. I think it is a nice place and the employees were very nice, but I don't think it was right for them to charge me twice like that. I had to follow my cat around and watched her try to jump on furniture and fall down. One of the times she fell on her side and I still see the look on her face. I referred them to my mother, but then told her about this situation. I hope this medicine works out because if not, then I will be going to a new vet. I worked in ac and heating for 16 years and if something like that happened odds are the homeowners would not pay for the new repair or get refunded on the old repair. read more

Not enough good things to say about PAH! All of the techs and receptionists are so so kind, and my dog and I absolutely love Dr. Prill. They are always extremely thorough and I do not feel like they ever upcharge for any services their prices are extremely fair for the care you get for your babies. We woke Monday morning to find our cat, Polo, drooling excessively. Other than the drooling, he seemed fine (no personality change, eating and drinking fine, no visible problems in the mouth). After some Internet research I decided I would wait one day to see if things got better. After watching Polo drool all day on Monday, and since he was still drooling Tuesday morning, I decided I need to call a veterinarian. In the past we used a veterinarian in Grapevine. While the drive was not excessive, it was a tad inconvenient. Also Polo really does not like the car, so a shorter drive would be far less stressful for him. I have driven past Parkside many times and have often contemplated using them. I also learned that one of our neighbors uses Parkside. Our neighbor is very animal knowledgeable, and if she gives Parkside her nod of approval, that was high praise indeed. I called Parkside and was given an afternoon appointment. There was also the option to bring Polo in early for observation, but since he had no other symptoms it was decided that an appointment with the veterinarian would be optimal. I'm sure Polo would be happier with this decision too, he does not do well outside his comfort zone. I'm so glad I opted for a closer veterinarian, as poor Polo meowed pitifully the whole way (5 minutes) to Parkside. I arrived a little early to fill out new patient paperwork. The reception area was clean and odor free. A cage with two adorable black kittens, available for adoption, sat in one corner. Nice touch I thought to myself. A short time later I was led to the exam room where a technician took Polo's vitals (all normal/good). A short time after that I met the veterinarian, Dr. Rita Ruple, D.V.M. She gave Polo a thorough exam, including looking into his mouth (much more thoroughly than I could do). The diagnosis: No obvious reason for the drooling. If Polo had eaten something the drooling likely would have stopped by now. The next thing to do was some blood work. Blood was drawn and I was told the results would be back the next morning (Wednesday). The office called around 9AM the next day with the results, which were inconclusive. One value, something to do with the urinary tract, was ever so slightly out of limits and likely caused by dehydration (likely caused by the drooling or the stress of the visit). Since Polo appeared healthy in all other aspects, it was decided to wait a few more days to see if the issue "resolves" on its own. I'm happy to write that I did notice the drooling was getting less, and by Wednesday evening it had had almost completely stopped. This Thursday morning I see no drooling at all (but will continue to monitor). It's so good Polo is no longer drooling and I have no misgivings that the veterinarian visit did not identify or solve the problem. It did give me the peace of mind that there were no immediately obvious problems (if the drooling did not stop more tests would have been required). Dr. Ruple was caring and sensitive and I feel she has a great empathy for the animals she cares for. Parkside will definitely be our veterinarian of choice next time Marco or Polo needs a trip to the doctor. Note: Since this is my first review for this professional services I am going 4 stars, which should be read as a solid endorsement from me. However I feel more than one visit is required before I'm comfortable giving a 5-star rating. As I mentioned, I will use Parkside again, so that update will occur eventually. read more

They are the kindest most compassionate folks with your pets - Iris our cat is very scared when we take her .. she can become almost feral when she is fearful and they have a pheromone room that they put her in to calm her. I think now they have it in every room. Bear one of our previous Sharpei had a bad experience at a previous vet and rather than have to muzzle him. The dr sent us home with something to calm him before bringing him in so we went back home gave him the meds & brought him back later that afternoon. We never had muzzle him for any of his visits; they just gave me the pills to keep at the house for him and anytime we were going to be in a stressful situation I had them to use. HORRIBLE experience putting my dog down earlier this month. They did not give my dog enough meds to sedate her and it took 3 administrations to make her sleepy. In the meantime, she spent 20-25 mins dragging herself all over the exam room, trying to escape. Vet gave meds and immediately left room instead of staying to see the meds were taking effect. Had to hunt them down out in the hallway! It was absolutely BARBARIC to watch my dog suffer in the last moments of her life and it is something I'll never forget as long as I live! I truly hope no one else ever has to experience that first hand. Simply unforgivable. read more

What a fantastic and friendly neighborhood place! Just took my sweet pup there today for the first time. From the front desk, to the groomer, to the nurse, to the doctor .. everyone was SO nice. I did the drop off, so I was able to hand off my pup before I went to work. When I got there, I was given a thorough overview of what Dexter needed and what I could expect for costs. We came up with a treatment plan I felt comfortable with before I left. I got a call from the vet later in the day with a full debrief and helped me understand any next steps that I needed to take. She was incredibly nice to chat with and a patient with my questions. It's such a peace of mind to be able to leave your fur baby with someone and know they are well taken care of. What a wonderful experience I had today at this vet. Dr. Prill was amazing. She diagnosed my dog with diabetes which I had a feeling the dog had from her symptoms. Dr. Prill went out of her way to explain and give me ways I could handle this diagnosis. She took so much time with me to help me handle the costs of this disease. We've been using Parkside for our cats since we moved here seven years ago. I agree with Ryan B's assessment. This place provides first class care. I also don't feel like there were any procedures pushed on us or that any of the prices were exorbitant. In fact, I compared their prices to the vet we were using in San Diego, and Parkside's price for basic annual exam was less (though I have no idea how their prices compare to other vets in this area). The staff has always been caring and supportive. The things with vets is that you have to take your pets for annual exams and immunizations. If you just take them in when something goes wrong, of course you're going to think prices are high - you're always paying to fix something rather than maintain. Taking your pet in annually helps to establish a baseline for your pet so the vet can better care for them now and in the future. read more

We have had Parkside take care of our pets for about 10 years. We have three dogs and two cats. The Parkside staff is like family. They are friendly, loving and they take care of our pets as they would their own. We had to have our 22 year old cat, Shadow, put down. Parkside staff made sure we were taken care of as much as our Shadow. I was allowed to hold Shadow as long as I wanted as they gave him the shot and after allowing me the time I needed. They sent a card signed by the entire staff. When we picked up Shadow's ashes, they took his paw print on a beautiful card and his ashes were given to us in a beautiful wooden box with his name inscribed on it. First class care and empathy. I had both of my cats treated there and never felt like they were pushing expensive, unnecessary treatment. When they got older they were also put to sleep there (on seperate occassions after long illness and advanced age). Each time the staff totally knew the drill before I even came in: they had all the paperwork ready; had me sign all the waivers; pay the bil; and the vet techs got everything squared away before I went in with my cats for the unfortunate business. I spent some time with my kitties and held them when Dr. Herndon euthenized my babies. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. read more

Very nice people...... but extremely expensive. Bring your wallet, they nickel and dime you for everything. Had a complimentary exam coupon so i thought why not try a new place. My dog had been shaking her head so I took her in for an ear check. I was also out of heart worm meds so I was going to pick those up there too. Well, I walked out the door with a $230 bill. Charges were ridiculous- $30 just to look at eat discharge under a microscope..... Ear solution was $38 (can be bought online for $15) Heart worm meds $100 (not including another $40 to check bloodwork before they would give me the heart worm meds because dog had missed a couple of months). Then another $20 to check the dogs anal glands . I guess the complimentary exam coupon was just a ticket to walk into the front door, cause it did not cover anything. Seroiusly????? My dog didn't even get any shots. If money is no object, this is the place for you. Otherwise beware of the pricing at this place. My one star review is really a reflection of the cost, not necessarily the people. read more

I cannot express enough gratitude for the doctor and staff at Parkside animal hospital. We recently moved to Texas with our 13 year old Golden Retriever. She had heath issues over the years and was under the care of our vet at home. Unfortunately, she began to decline over a weeks' time and we awoke one morning to her not able to get up and having frequent seizures. We knew it was time to say good bye and phoned another animal hospital who told us we would have to go to a local emergency vet clinic since we had not established care at their clinic and our dog was apparently terminal. I phoned Parkside Animal Hospital next and the receptionist was very caring and said she would talk with the vet for me. The vet said of course to bring her right up and they would help us. From the moment we walked into the clinic, the receptionist was compassionate and caring. They understood our situation and that we had brought our beloved dog there to help ease her pain and say good bye. They quickly assessed the situation and made sure she was comfortable and that we had enough time to say good bye. We were able to stay with her after the initial exam and hold her while she went to sleep one final time. I am so grateful that I called a second clinic and was able to find people who cared for us as much as our dog that they allowed us to bring her into their office to be cared for by what was obviously a very caring vet and staff. The office followed up with a phone call the following day to see if we were doing okay and/or needed anything. They also sent a card the next week and a follow up card two weeks later with a very caring message and footprint of our sweet dog. I feel very blessed to have found Parkside Animal Hospital and look forward to returning one day, when the loss is not so great, with a new puppy who will have a chance to grow up visiting an office with such compassion for his/her routine care as well as emergency visits. I highly recommend your office and encourage anyone who is in search of a vet or has any question on whether or not to visit your office to just stop in to say hello or bring your animal in for his next visit. I would absolutely never go to any other vet and only bring my dogs to Parkside Animal Hospital or the sister company which is Bonds Ranch Animal Medical Center. My cat could have died because once they were paid, they no longer cared about his condition. . I brought my cat here for surgery. When (the day after bringing him home) I called because he showed signs of infection and was so listless he had to be lifted out of the kennel, I was told that I would have to wait a day to bring him in as they closed in 45 minutes. I offered to rush him up but was told the vet had one more appointment and that the vet would not even have time to look at the pictures of the swollen surgical site that I had sent in (they didn't even bother to look before stating that it could wait until the next day). Before hanging up I tried to explain again the gravity of the situation. The receptionist acted put out that she even had to take calls (mind you, very friendly before the surgery). I ended up having to take him to an emergency ER, where I found that he had an infection in the surgical site, a fever of 105, and was dehydrated. If I had listened to the receptionist, my cat could have died before I ever made it to their appointment. I put in a complaint, but never even received a call back. read more

Ain't Want the Used to Be 10 years ago when I moved here, I thought Parkside did a great job. HOWEVER - Within the past 2 years there have been 3 different very distressing incidents that are making me pull my furry family members out of there care. They put my parent's dog down after telling them his continuous vomiting was likely not treatable. They put a friend's dog through unnecessary emergency surgery for a UTI. My poor pup was misdiagnosed for one year for a very treatable but life threatening condition. The only reason I gave them two stars was because they employees are very friendly and the facility is clean. However, I go for medical treatment of my animals. We cannot think of any negatives for Parkside. Their concerns and care for our pets have always been the best. Our cat had cancer; they guaranteed us 6 more months with surgery. Our kitty lived happy and loving for exactly the 6 months. We also lost our pup to old age. Their cards and notes for our lost were greatly appreciated. We continue to take our pets to them. My pup will have dental surgery tomorrow. I know it will turn out fine. What shocked me is the procedure is half the costs of another inquiry I made. I have been taking our pets to Parkside for almost 4 years now. With a family of 3 kids, there have been many strays we have adopted, from dogs to stray (and pregnant) cats. All of which have been through the Parkside process of evaluation. Buddy, my rescued Rottweiler, had a real bad case of ear infections and wasn't too happy about poking around in his ears. It took 2 of the staff to be able to hold him and do what was needed and they were able to make him feel fairly comfortable during the process (I think the little treats they gave him along the way made it special). When we moved into our new home, I was excited to have a vet so close where I could take my two dogs. My dogs received a couple routine exams, blood work, and a vaccinations. During those visits, things went ok. I did wait a while both in the waiting room and in the exam room each visit, but hey, things can happen. One afternoon around 3:30, I noticed that my rambunctious 4 year old pup was standing on the stairway and was crying. She didn't want to walk. I knew something was wrong and needed to get her to a vet ASAP. So, I called Parkside, explained what was happening, hoping I could bring her in right away. After being on hold for a minute, she came back on and said that they were all booked and if I would be ok with a 9:30 appt. the next day. So, I declined and told her I'd call another vet. I called another a few miles away and they took her right away. Her condition was very serious and may have resulted in permanent paralysis if not treated. So, unfortunately, we had to change to a not so close vet. read more

We had lived in Keller about a year and a half before my eleven year old shepard/mix dog reached what I consider a critical point in her life. The Parkside vets had only been treating her for about a year, but when I called to ask about euthanasia they were very understanding. I didn't want her last moments in the office, so they came to our home and were able to take her after the procedure. It was heartwrenching, but I wouldn't do it any other way. I hope they still offer that service for people who need it. I've also had great experiences in their office with other pets we own. They offer varied services. and I've taken in strays to see if they can read the microchips if there are any, they've always been really nice and helpful. read more
