Bangkok 96 is a regular lunch stop for me during the week. It's typically busy with Ford employees at lunchtime, which was annoying since there would often be a wait if you don't arrive at 11am. However, they recently remodeled the layout, removed a large aquarium and booths for tables, and I haven't had to wait since. The food is great. I highly recommend the N2 Pud Se'ewew. The rice noodles and brown sauce are mixed perfectly. I bounce between hot and medium, sometimes the hot is overwhelming, but sometimes it's perfect. Pud Thai, and Thai Fried rice are good options as well. The wait staff are very friendly and the service is quick. read more

I'm normally not a fan of Thai food, but I really enjoy the menu at this restaurant. I would not recommend trying this place out if you don't like spicy food though. Came in a few years ago and this place was great - came back today and it was the worst service I've ever had. First I ordered the wrong kind of spring rolls so I asked for new ones and the waitress acted annoyed and gave me a cold spring rolls. Then I ordered pud Thai and asked for it mild but it came super spicy. The waitress, Christy I believe, also dropped water on my coat when she was pouring water. When we walked in she was texting and it took almost five minutes for her to notice us. Every time I saw her when she wasn't throwing plates at our table she was on her phone texting. The soup is definitely a no. Tom yum gai is WAY too sweet. The soup is suppose to taste lemony/sour, but the taste here is just off. Besides that, I think their other dishes are pretty good. One thing to keep in mind, when you say spicy, they mean spicy. One of our dish curry chicken was too spicy that they took the dish back to make it bland for us. When I walk in I notice just tables and chairs. No booths. I guess to accommodate more people. As I review the menu it seems the only make pad Thai-different kinds and fried rice. They sit a water pitcher on every table. I got the Bangkok fried rice. It was very good! Came with chicken, shrimp, pea pods, green peas, broccoli and onions. The portion size is huge!!! I also ordered an ice tea but forgot to ask was it fresh brewed. It was not I don't like bottle ice tea. Then I exchanged it for a Thai ice tea. It was terrible!!!! Don't know what it was but I've never had it this bad. This place does a lot of carry out. They are good with cleaning the tables not sure if because it's a slow day. I like it. My first trip here, and my first Pad Thai ever, so I don't have anything to compare to. My one issue was that I asked for mild and they brought me an extremely spicy order! Once I was able to speak again, they brought me a new plate and it was fine. Overall, service was acceptable, the meal was delicious and the dining room was nice and clean. I think it's fitting to add that throughout the past 3 years of becoming a regular (recently up to carry out about once every week / two weeks), I literally haven't had one bad experience there. Service is always friendly and timely for dine-in or takeout (it's steadily improved from my perception / where it was 3 years ago), and the food is consistent (moderate variation but never extreme) and ALWAYS tasty. Noodle dishes, fried rice (even with the off-the-menu addition of curry like my family requests), main entrees, appetizers, and speciality drinks are all consistently delicious. It's no wonder this place is always busy; they deserve it! read more

Had dinner here again for the zillionth time and tried some new stuff. I order the Pad Prik (#10) with noodles cooked in it with beef and it was great and a huge portion! I brought 3/4 of it home. My aunt had the duck with the coconut curry sauce and it was delicious as well. My uncle had the thai steak and he devoured it. I just wish the service was slightly faster and the carryout portions are tiny compared to the dine-in portions....therefore.... 4 stars. read more

THE BEST Thai food around! I love this place!!! I actually hate spicy food, but I still love eating here! :) They have a few different options for spices and you can get no spice (which is what I always get). It is ALWAYS busy in there (duh) but it's kind of hard not to be since their dining room is so dang small. I wish they were able to grow their building because they would definitely be able to pay it back quick, that's for sure! As long as you have a little patience and understanding, dining in will be fine. If not, take out is for you! :) read more

I love Thia food, especially the coconut soup/ Gai Tom Ka. It was a let down though and okay. I loved the fireball bowl it was served in. The taste was bland, watered down tasting. My husband had Pad Prik and we didn't like it at all. The rice served on the side smelled awful. The tofu was old and was more tough, not because it was fried (he didn't get that kind) but I believe because it was old. There was a younger guy who kept his fingers in his hair as he dealt with food. I don't know why this is rated high but, I won't be back. I recommend the Bangkok kitchen in Ohio. it's the best hands down, but a huge drive. That may be why i found this restaurant a let down and not good at all. I came here with a friend, the best past about the meal was the hot & sour soup for two. We also really enjoyed the fried tofu and the dipping sauce that comes with it was incredible. Food: I've had more disappointing dishes than tasty ones. I'd say one in four dishes were great. I keep coming back because people drag me here. I boycotted them for a while because the chicken in gang garee curry was raw. At first I thought it just tasted funny. But I went to the bathroom and washed the curry off and split it open like my chef father taught me. It as pink and rubbery on the inside. RAW, I REPEAT, RAW CHICKEN. Service: hit or miss. I've experienced language barriers before, making it complicated to substitute things. Our server got frustrated and just shouted no! It was uncomfortable at the time but we laugh at it now. Ambiance: lots of parking. Tables are cramped on the inside. I shouldn't hit someone behind me when I stand up from my table. Tables are small. Normally we get a pot of rice, maybe an appetizer, pitcher of water, plus our food. This is a lot for a normal sized table. I have no place to rest my napkin or fork on these baby tables after everything comes out. I put my napkin on my seat when I get up to leave for the restrooms. Overall: I try not to return but other people seem obsessed with this overrated place and keep dragging me back. It seems like the hip thing to do. I recommend going to Thai Vylai in Allen park instead. read more

Had them cater an event for my mother's retirement. Very friendly staff, and food was good. Dishes were hot and ready for pick up right on time. Got full trays of food that went over well at the party. I asked for no spice on pineapple fried rice, but was still a little spicy, which was hard for the kids to eat. The pad thai and spring rolls were delicious. Could have been more chicken in the dishes. Came with lots of utensils and plasticware. I am a Vegan and I have a dairy allergy and I ordered vegan pad Thai and curry fried rice. After I got home and I ate it I knew afterwards that something wasn't right. So I called them back and asked if the curry was indeed Vegan and the girl who answered the phone was like I think so and I asked her to make sure. She comes back on the phone to inform me that there was half and half in the curry which by the way most people use coconut milk. Besides the fact that you've made a vegan consume animal products and I had bad allergic reaction to the meal, no one including the manager Melanie no one apologized. That is just terrible customer service. On top of that I have to go back in for a refund and I love far away. I am now looking for a lawyer. read more

A popular place for Thai food in Dearborn. It is very crowded during lunch time everyday. If you don't want to wait for a seat, try to be there around 11 as soon as they open. The portion is big and the continental soup tastes great. Food can be quite spicy if you choose to. They recently increased the price but this is still one of my top choices for lunch. read more

We were visiting our friends in Dearborn and we wanted to eat Asian food. Our friends took us here, and we loved it! The portions were huge, and so it made for great value. There were five of us with hearty appetites, but we ordered only 4 dishes and then soup. There was still a ton left over. The noodles were tasty, but I think the star of our meal were the BBQ wings. Best Thai in the area. I normally get carry out, but the dining room is nicely decorated and comfortable. Their Pad Thai is some of the best I've had anywhere, and their tofu tod is delicious. I will pass other Thai restaurants to get there, their food is so good. Friendly staff and very clean. If you come MWF for lunch prepare to get there before 11:15 or you will be waiting a while as it is free hot and sour soup day. Used to go here when I worked Downriver. Just went there again recently. The service was OK and it took a little longer than I thought it should to get served because it wasn't that crowded, but the food was good and tasted fresh. I like my Thai food spicy and different Thai places have different ideas of what mild, medium and hot are. But Bangkok 96 gets it right; their hot is just right and you can order in between, like mild-plus, etc. read more
