My friend and I decided to enjoy some Thai food for a change. The owner of the August Chinese Market recommended their neighbors at Bangkok Flavor 2, as they serve great food, and it won't bankrupt your bank account. So I felt, what do I have to loose!? We both ordered a bowl of "Hearty Noodle Soup" with beef, chicken and shrimp. I asked them to serve it mild, and the chef complied with my request. This soup uses beef stock, and is ideal to keep your insides warm in the winter months, when it's very cold and snowy outside. Likewise, the egg wheat noodles were made earlier by the chef that I have found to be very delicious. We also ordered crispy rolls, which were very good, and I ended up taking my leftover rolls home with me. Bangkok 2, is a small restaurant that does a lot of carry-out business, so seating maybe an issue for large groups, and it would be advisable to call first to see if they can accommodate your gathering. However, if you're looking for a cozy spot to have dinner for two, then this restaurant might be what you're looking for. One of my friends of Chiang Mai, in the Northern Highlands of Thailand, says the food they serve here tastes closer to what she grew up with at home, and has a different flavor profile than what you will find in Bangkok. With that being said, if you're looking for an inexpensive Thai Restaurant, which has fast service, then Bangkok 2 offers wide menu to choose from. read more

This was our first visit to Thai Flavors II; we had bookmarked it based on Yelp reviews and photos and because it was along the route we take once a month for historical presentations at the Yankee Air Museum. It is not huge inside with only about eight tables; but it was not crowded at all when we arrived and we were seated immediately. We just asked for water and then studied the menu. I decided to order my standard dish when trying a new Thai restaurant: Gang Gai (Red Curry) with Shrimp, medium spice. My wife normally orders Green Curry but lately has become fond of Drunken Noodles, mild, so she ordered that with Shrimp. When the food came out I noticed that the Drunken Noodle dish seemed darker than most of the ones we have had at other Thai restaurants; it also had a much stronger flavor and more spice than we expected for mild; we needed to add Rice to tone it down a bit. On the other hand my Red Curry Shrimp was great and tasted pretty much as I expected including perfect spice level relative to what I ordered. Service was friendly and pleasant and our drinks were kept full even though they were handling a steady stream of carry out orders. Perhaps that is what caused a bit of a delay in getting our bill. We had also ordered Mango Sticky Rice as a dessert to go. My wife opened it to have a taste and noticed that it did not have Red Beans she wanted as shown in some Yelp photos that she expected. I stopped in to get my daughter some Thai food on my way home after stopping at the eyebrow threading place a couple of doors down. I ordered Crab Ragoons and Shrimp Basil Noodles for her and then tried to place an order for the Sweet sticky rice with mango but was told they were out. I asked if they just had regular sticky rice to purchase and I was looked at like I had two heads, stating that was what they were out of. I responded that I didn't know if they might have just been out of mango. My total came to $16.50. I gave him $27.00 and again he looked at me like I didn't know what I was doing. I responded that I wanted a $10 back. He gave me my change and I waited for her meal. After getting it back home my daughter stated that she didn't like the noodles so she only ate the ragoons. It's the first time she's turned her nose at a shrimp entree, so this was a bit surprising. It was a rainy fall evening and they're 30 minutes from my house, I didn't even bother calling or going back. Maybe she's spoiled as my mother is from Bangkok and makes food more to our tastes than what this restaurant offers, but I have only found one Thai restaurant that we like so far which is closer to me in Ann Arbor. My boyfriend and I love thai food, so we thought we'd give this place a shot as we are new to the area. The staff was so friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived. It felt very homey, which I have never said about an international restaurant before. I ordered some stir fried vegetables (which came with white rice) and my boyfriend ordered the chicken pad thai. Within ten minutes, it was out of the kitchen and served right before us. Absolutely delicious food. This was my first time trying Thai food, and i got the pad thai yellow curry noodles. They were definitely good, slightly sweet though more than they are savory. Just the right amount of spice. Not complaining about anything and the service was great, i had a phone call to make outside and the guy brought it outside to me when it finished. So overall I'm satisfied. My fiancé and I decided to come check this place out last week and was happy with the service and food. I was reminded of a small cafe i used to work at, where the restaurant was ran by a daughter and mother. Since the drunken noodles were mentioned by other yelp reviews, I decided to try it out. I got the dish with chicken and a medium spiciness. The only thing I didn't like about the dish was the tiny pieces of ginger mixed in the dish. I absolutely HATE ginger and wasn't aware prior to ordering it was included in the dish. My fiancé got the pad thai with pork which tasted mediocre. The place was empty but the decorations in the restaurant really seemed to flow and was welcoming. I came here for lunch on a weekend with a friend after searching for halal Thai restaurants. Despite it being peak lunch hour on a Saturday, this restaurant was not very crowded and we were seated immediately. The seating inside is quite simple but comfortable. The menu is very vast and there are tons of options for noodles, chicken dishes, vegetarian dishes, and dishes with seafood. I went with my usual drunken noodles with chicken and asked them to make it spicy. It was actually spicy! I appreciated this because a lot of times even when you indicate that you'd like spicy food at a Thai restaurant, it still ends up being kind of mild. The drunken noodles were a little more 'drunken' than I had wanted, but they still tasted delicious. I then got orders of sweet-and-sour chicken and sesame chicken to go. The sesame chicken was delicious! The sweet and sour chicken was okay and not how it is typically where there is a shell outside of the chicken that you dip into a sauce. OK, this should be at least a 4.5 star, if I could do that. This place has continued to amaze me. Since it's opened I've tried: Pad Thai 3x (some of the best I've ever had) Pad See Ewe 1x (VERY good!) Drunken Noodles 2x (Easily the best I've had) Kow Pad 1x (this one was just OK. The fried rice had a strange taste I couldn't quite figure out.) Bankok Chicken 1x (also very tasty!) Angle Noodle 1x (I really like this, even though I steer away from Curry usually). Curry Fried Rice 1x (again, it was good. Very mild curry, it was almost like a saffron rice. Great Flavor!). Yes, I've eaten there a LOT. Multiple times in one day in many cases! I'm definitely getting my Thai fix! For each dish I've had a mixture of chicken, pork, or shrimp and all have been fantastic. I've also tried all of the appetizers and they were all good. I might shy away from the crab rangoon though. Too much rangoon and not enough filling. The service is quick and friendly, and the food is always of the highest quality. We have been a couple times for takeout, and while I generally will try a couple new things, I have gotten the drunken noodles with tofu twice. The first one was delish - hence my ordering it again on my next visit. The second visit, instead of the slightly sweet Thai brown sauce, my noodle dish was soaked with a super salty soy base brown sauce. It was inedible. We also got a Thai salad this time, but instead of a peanut sauce dressing, there was a sugary vinaigrette. It wasn't what we were expecting based on the menu description. Didn't see any takeaway orders or food deliveries services either so wasn't sure if the place isn't popular or the area wasn't safe? I walked in with my empty cup of Starbucks coffee and the server asked me to throw it away since outside food/drink isn't allowed? Never heard of that, esp. when they didn't sell coffee and my cup was empty anyway, just didn't see a trash can to do it myself! Thought that was a bit unnecessary. What we had: -Tom Kha ($5.50) Good for 4 people! -Panang Curry w/ Chicken ($9.50) THE BEST!!! -Glass Noodles ($9.50) THE BEST!!! Overall portion size were extremely generous and prices very unreasonable! Everything tasted great and service wasn't bad either! Total for 3 was around $27!!! My spring roll appetizer was still frozen in the middle, so BF2 and I didn't have a great start. The waitress was very apologetic and removed the item from my bill. My friend ordered Pad Se Ewe and I ordered the Peanut Noodle with fried tofu and tom kha soup. The soup somewhat made up for the fryer mishap, but it was extremely salty. I'm used to a sour coconut flavored tom kha, but the sodium was overpowering and I couldn't taste any signs of lemongrass. However-the soup was piping hot. My entree... was also very salty and saturated my noodles. My friend's dish was also salty. I took my food home and ate it with two bowls of rice. Despite my not so great experience, I'm still giving this place a two star because, this is the only restaurant that actually cooks the peanut curry sauce decently. The warm sauce was flavorful, not overly sweet and didn't taste like some other Thai places who throws a glob of peanut butter in it and hope you didn't notice how sticky it is. The sauce was thin and savory. But the amount was not proportional and drenched my noodles. So whoever has the heavy hand in the kitchen, please cut back! If you put salt in the sauce, no need to salt again! Everything else would have been pretty good. So like I said, this place didn't leave a very good first impression but I'll try them again to see if there were any improvements. :) read more

I went to this restaurant with low expectations. Almost composed my rant on Yelp even before I entered the restaurant. Wow ! My bad. This place has solid food. Best in the Canton area, hands-down. For an appetizer we had 'Koong Houm Pa' which is chicken with spices, wrapped in an spring roll wrapper and fried. It was good and very crispy. The flavor of the spices could have been a little bolder. For the entrees we had 'Pad Ped', 'Drunken noodles' and 'Shrimp Fried Rice'. "Pad Ped" - solid. Great flavor. Recommended ! "Drunken noodle" - Very good. I thought the garlic and ginger was too strong. On the flip side, my wife loved the strong ginger and garlic. "Shrimp Fried Rice" - Why is it that almost all Asian restaurants can't make good fried rice ? This restaurant is the exception. Their fried rice is very, very good. I recommend it very much. The amount of shrimp they use is very, very generous. My only comment, use shell-on shrimp and peel it. I understand it is much easier to use the already peeled, frozen shrimp. But the taste is far superior with shell-on. Decor - Simply decorated but nice. Service - The owner of the restaurant is the also the Chef. The Chef's mother waits on the tables. A very nice lady. Location, location, location. Thank you Bangkok Flavor for opening up 1 mile from my house. This review is strictly based on take out. MENU- your typical Thai fare- curries, noodles. I can't say there was anything on this menu that I haven't seen on any other Thai joint. Pretty much any thing on the menu has the option of adding some protein (chicken, pork, beef, scollops, shrimp) or keeping it vegetarian. FOOD- I've tried many of their curries (Gang Gai, Panang, Masaman), and noodles (Pad thai, drunken noodles, pad see ewe). I personally like the masaman and pad see ewe the best. Thai basil fried rice is just ok (it's not on the menu, but they will make it for you). I've ordered the stuff mild mostly (my wife doesn't rock the spicy food), but when I have ordered it medium, it was more "peppery" spicy, which I don't care much for. OVERALL- they're close, they're reasonably priced (roughly $7 for lunch, $9-$10 for dinner entrees), I dig 'em. I don't think I'd eat there as they have all of 6 tables. My friend and I met for lunch today and since we are both huge Thai lovers we found this hidden restaurant in a strip next to generic food chains. Upon walking in we were informed we could seat ourselves anywhere. The decor was very nice with a few statues in the front and the general feel of the place was welcoming, wasn't loud or too quiet. I was surprised my friend and I were the only two people there at 2pm on a Friday but that's fine. One of the big reasons we choose this restaurant is because they offer bubble tea. I was slightly disappointed with the way it was made. More of an icy consistency too it then other Thai spots but I will say their spring rolls are amazing! They are thick meaning more of a bread to vegetable ratio, which was just fine by me! The plum sauce was mouthwatering, I even ordered two servings. Based off my one visit Bangkok Flavor 2 is okay, nothing spectacular but if I'm ever just passing through Canton I will come here again for more spring rolls and maybe an entree! read more
