I tried this place for dinner the other night. You can see that they used to have dine in but have gone to carry out only. When I called to place an order I got someone on a he phone who seemed to struggle with English. They want you to order by number and there was some confusion about "c" or "b". I was asked to repeat the order. Food portions were fine, taste was OK but I just didn't seem to get the Thai experience. I'm sure that the cooking is authentic but something just seemed missing. I can't put my finger on it but it he taste seemed to be closer to Chinese than Thai. The food was good but something was just missing. Order was filled promptly and the cost was reasonable. I was a fan of Siam Spicy on Warren rd. In Wayne but they changed hands so I tried Thai City further south than the other restaurant. It's all caryout and we ordered the chicken pad Thai. It was ready on time and fairly priced. The order was huge! We ate it for dinner two days in a row. I grade it a "B" as an ex teacher. It was a little dry and reheated ,quite dry. If you plan to re heat it another day get extra sauce. We like ours mild but in the past ,the cooks idea of mild didn't match mine. We learned to order no spice but put a little cup if the pepper flakes on the side so that we could add as much as we want. I asked for this at Thai City and they said that they could make the order mild spice but if we wanted the pepper flakes on the side they would charge a dollar! Doesn't make sense to me! read more

I've only ever eaten from the Thai side of the menu and have never been disappointed. From traditional Thai favorites like Pad Thai, Pad Prik and Pad Pak, to their restaurant specials located under the glass table tops there is surely something to please any palate. Any dish can be completely customized to your taste and spice level. And the most noteworthy thing about Thai City is the impeccably personal customer service you get get there. After your first time or two there, the waitress will surely know your order by heart. I love Thai Food and eat it literally all the time, worked for a Thai place before (in a different state) and have been to Thailand. I ordered takeout from here. Tom Ka soup and the cold beef salad. The soup tasted nothing like Tom Ka. It was wattery, and cloudy and grainy. There was a grainy texture like maybe flour or something? I have no clue what was in it but that wasn't like any Tom Ka I've ever had. Tom Ka is one of my favorite Thai soups. I took a cooking class on how to make it, would prepare it where I worked, and have eaten it at many different places around the u.s and in Thailand. Home on vacation in Michigan I decide to give this place a shot and it was by far the worst Tom Ka I've ever had in my life. The cold beef salad was just OK. Barely OK. But there was something off about it. It was a little bland, boring, and some odd flavors. What promoted me to write this review is that the food had made me extremely sick. I am currently locked in my bathroom and not doing so well. I know it was this food and not something else. I can explain why I know, but that might be a little TMI. But trust me. Took only 15 minutes. They put a giant portion in a take out box and then wrapped it in plastic wrap but the sauce leaked out anyway. Since we have a friend that lives sort of nearby, we'll often walk up here while hanging out at his house. There are just a few tables inside, but it looks like most of their business is carry-out. The service is always friendly and quick, and we can make the walk back to enjoy our meal comfortably at our friend's house. We've gotten both Chinese and Thai dishes here and enjoyed both. This is actually one of our favorite parts of Thai City, because our friend loves super spicy Thai food, and we can all go there even if we're not in the mood for Thai at all. Stopped in this little place unexpectedly. I ordered General Tso Chicken. Delish. One of the best I have had. That's my favorite Chinese dish. Had dinner at this place two days ago.I wasnt impressed at all.They claim to be a Thai-Chinese food place, which meabs they do serve Thai and/or Chinese dishes.Had been here a few years back and was happy with their Pad Thai and another Chinese dish we ordered back then. This time we ordered Pad Thai again and Sweet and Sour Pork.The Pad Thai was okay, but not that great. But what was so disappoibting was their Sweet and Sour Pork which was neither sweet nor sour.The dish consisted of fried blocks of pork with hardly any vegetables such as carrots, celery etc. It was just fried pork pieces and a few pineapple chunks. Even the sauce was hardly rvident at all. I was totally unimpressed with their Chinese Sweet & Sour Pork.. We ended up taking home the untouched pork and made my own version of Sweet & Sour by adding carrots, celery, onions and my own sweet & sour sauce. read more

Pretty much my favorite restaurant in the are. Side note: I've never ordered from the Chinese menu. I find a good rule of thumb is if its a Thai place...order Thai...pretty good rule Ive found. I love the Thai soups offered and ALL their coconut based dishes. The portions are always generous and you will have left overs! If you go... try the C9. You wont be disappointed! The service is always fantastic and quick. She can be abrupt on the phone...but she's the only waitress and running the front of house and answering phones too. It's a small operation. My first time really trying Thai food( embarrassing I know). This restaurant is within a complex and is hard to spot if you don't know it's there. I really liked it! They had a large Thai menu and some typical Chinese items as well. I wanst very hungry , so I ordered an egg roll The egg roll was so good! And only $1.45. My husband ordered the meat sautéed with peanut sauce. It's has brocolli, napa cabbage and noodles. If you like ginger, make sure to add it. You may order it mild, medium or Hot. We like spicy food, and the waitress suggested to try medium just to make sure it wasn't to hot. It was perfect. Had the perfect amount of kick. Next time I think we will try the hot. Dukedom granted! Happened on this place by chance (we were going to a restaurant that was inexplicably closed). This review only pertains to take out. AMBIANCE: The place isn't too big, maybe about 10-12 tables at most. The place isn't overly done up, but it's clean. The 2 times I've been here there haven't been too many people here, though I've gone on a Tuesday and a Wed. so that's not too surprising. MENU: As one might guess, they have your typical Thai food fare. They have your curries (panang, masaman) and noodles (pad thai, pad see euw), and some stir fries. They also do Chinese food (Americanized). They have combos for lunch and dinner, though the dinner combos are primarily Chinese food combos. FOOD: We've tried their green and red curries (chicken and mixed seafood). Both lacked flavor, though I'm not sure if that's due to the fact that we ordered them "mild." The Pad Thai had a mild sweetness which my wife seemed to like, but I thought it was a bit off. The Chinese food we tried, Lo Mein and ABC (I'm ashamed, but who doesn't love fried chicken with gravy) was tasty and bountiful. We fed 5 people for 2 days with 4 dishes. OVERALL- not the greatest Thai/Chinese, but not bad for the area. Not sure if I'd go out of my way to get it, but certainly not bad if you happen to be in the area.
