Food delivery order. We got crab ragoon, pad see ew, drunken noodle, and salmon sushi roll. Everything came hot and ready to eat. The drunken noodles were great. Loved the spice level! Used to be one of my favorite spots but the last THREE times I've ordered the pad cashew, they've put zero cashews in it. Weird. Also the quantity has significantly decreased - I used to have enough for leftovers the next day and now I'm finishing the entire meal in one sitting. It's been a while since leaving Thai Basil a review. Previously, I would stop here regularly. I enjoyed the ambiance and the food. The service had always been good and it was again on my recent visit. The food also arrives quickly. There is some highlights and a bit of lowlights. The winners here are the crab Rangoon's and the spring rolls. They are both very crispy and the flavor is spot on! They also are generous with the crab filling! Outstanding! The pad Thai for me was just not that good. I have had it before and I liked it. It was too sweet, it had an odd darker color and the chicken was not tender at all. The eggs were also almost nonexistent. The vegetarian stir fry was tasty, but it almost had a gumbo consistency and it didn't not have enough veggies. Things seem to have declined. The decor, once sort of special, looks dated and a bit drab. This experience was just ok. I hope they brighten the place up and improve the food back to their old standards. It's a great location with lots of parking! They just need to share their original passion so it translates to the food and the overall experience! read more

I was in the area and decided to take a chance on this location. It's not terrible and it's not great. It depends what you like. The crab Rangoon has way too much cream cheese and do you need to be careful eating it as it can get messy due to the excessive cream cheese. The spice level insane! Light spice = medium and medium spice = very hot. I can't imagine how killer it would be to ask for "regular" spice ! The sushi was ok. The setting looks dated. The service is good and fast. Spent over $60 for food that wasn't edible. Ordered mild, we like some spice but it was wayyyyyyy too spicy. Pad cashew had 1 small piece of chicken and a bunch of sauce with no bamboo shoots or baby corn. Ordered chicken pad Thai, hardly any chicken. Ordered the peanuts on the side and they didn't provide them. Will never order here again. Tom yum soup was too spicy to eat. Update: took the uneaten food back the next day and spoke with the manager Saj, he said they would remake it for us at that time but we were on our way to a party. He said we could have it remade at a later date. I called tonight to reorder and he would only offer a discount, not a remake. He said he did not write it down and had no record of it. Got take out. I got three items from here : basil fried rice, tom kha soup, and red curry. I didn't get a picture of the red curry but it was drained from the container and leaking into the plastic bag it was put in and tied. That was disappointing bc it was just chunks of vegetables. The basil fried rice I can say was pretty good, would not say out of this world. Lastly the Tom kha soup was looking like it's not mixed well as parts of it looked more liquidified than others. I placed an order and asked for the spice to be medium hot. Picked up my food, (15 min drive there) just to get home and there was NO spice. I called back up there to advise I was on my way back up there and was told they would remake it and give me some sauce for free. I get up there and was only give crushed red peppers and some sauce. The guy was beyond rude. I asked if there was anyone else there I could talk to and he basically said no. I WILL NOT BE EATING HERE AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. Prices as of Sept 2022: - Chicken, pork, tofu or veggies: $12.50 - Beef: $13.50 - Shrimp, squid or crabmeat: $14.50 - Scallop: $15.50 - Mixed seafood: $17.95 Their Pad Thai came with thin rice noodles wok-tossed with eggs, green onions, bean sprouts, and topped with crushed peanuts. The color of the noodles was a little paler than what I'm used to, but the flavor turned out to be all there and more. It was savory, slightly tangy and sweet, and it was pretty loaded with chicken thigh meat. And with each dish we got to choose our desired spiciness level, and I asked for "spicy" because I looove real spicy food, no jokes. But man oh man, the "spicy" level at this place was no joke. But it was so good though. The Pad See Ew came with wide rice noodles wok-tossed with eggs and broccoli sweet soy sauce. I asked for "medium spicy" for this one. Thai Basil in Livonia is so fast, we order delivery frequently and their food always arrives much sooner than it tells you to expect. And it is always so hot and fresh, perfectly made and delicious. They have the best pad Thai in town! I have an allergy with onions and usually when I ask for no onions they make sure there are no onions, and they'll add something else like sprouts to round out the dish, really thoughtful. Have been ordering for a number of years from them and never ever a bad experience, food quality is really consistent. Oh, and their portion sizes are huge! I am honestly not sure what has happened to this Thai Basil location. This used to be a great place to order Thai food. My past two orders have been wrong. I order chicken pad Thai with no peanuts. The first order a few weeks ago was not what I ordered with peanuts. I tried to go back a second time and the order contained peanuts. I mentioned this to the hostess who said she took the order. She was extremely confrontational and said that I did not say "no peanuts". This was not the case and it has happened twice. Honestly avoid this location at all costs. They cannot recover in my opinion. I certainly did not lie about saying no peanuts across multiple orders when I can't have peanuts. If you have allergies this location cannot be trusted. read more

My dad ate his right away so when he said there was barely any chicken in the rice I thought he was exaggerating. I heated my rice up for breakfast at work and either my dad wasn't exaggerating or the chicken got up and walked out in the middle of the night like a bad one night stand. I usually get spicy Siam crossed the street and they are much better but they were closed Sunday. I paid $4.50 to add chicken as per the menu set up. I feel slighted. Thai Basil is tucked into a strip mall in Novi on Grand River between Wixom and Beck near where the old Zoup used to be. The inside is beautiful, booths and tables. They do not, as advertised, have sushi. Which for us was fine. We both ordered the traditional shrimp pad Thai mild which still had a little spicy kick to it. There were plenty of medium size shrimp in the dishes. Bean sprouts and crushed peanuts on top. It was quite delicious, We had to stop ourselves so we could take the rest home. There's is nothing I adore more than a proper soft shell crabs, and these guys did it hella right. Then we move on to the main events, chicken in coconut curry and the tofu with red curry for my vegetarian friend. Both dishes were really amazing. I love love love love love and adore the flavors. The curry is just right with the right amount of bite and not too too spicy either. Just right sort of speak. Anyways,, the service was awesome. Our drinks arrived in a timely fashion, so did our food. Plus our waters were definitely tended to. Refills whenever we needed a freshen up. Which in turn translates to an amazing experience.
