    Pad Thai plated

The food here is awesome. There are multiple Thai places in the Soquel/Santa Cruz area but this is one of my favorites. Today I got pad Thai, curry rice, basil beef, crab rangoons, and spring rolls. I could eat their curry rice every day, it has such a wonderful flavor profile. I'll have to ask for it with more spice next time though! The servers are always so sweet too.

Came here for the first time and it was SO good. The atmosphere and decor is so cute and feels very authentic. The staff is pretty friendly but we did feel rushed at the end of our meal even though they weren't closing up yet and there were a couple other couples inside. The shrimp suits were SO good and the yellow curry had a great flavor as well and two whole chicken breasts. It was a lot of meat. I just wish they had more sauce so it doesn't get dry. You also have to purchase extra rice because even though both of our entrees came with rice, they "combined" it but did so by only giving us one small plate of rice. We would come back for sure when in the area.

Amazing Thai food for the area. Loved the traditional ambiance and service was amazing! We overheard our server say she was 70 to the other table, it hurt my heart a little that she was still working. We ordered the pad Thai and spicy basil fried rice - both excellent! Will definitely return the next time we're in the area

From the moment you step out the car, you feel transported as you walk through their gardens through their front door where the ambiance is as good as the food. Nestled in one of the booths, we started with the larb, followed by a solid pad thai, and my favorite of the evening, a delicious salmon pineapple curry special. Normally I never have room for dessert, but this time I made sure to save room so I can try their bread pudding. Such a hidden gem in Aptos.

Amazing food and service! The decor of the restaurant with the music and running water made for a pleasant dining experience. We ordered fried shrimp appetizer (#4), egg rolls (#2), pork fried rice, chicken pad Thai, and duck curry. I think my favorite was the pork fried rice. Such amazing flavors!!! The curry tasted great as well and the Pad Thai was exactly the flavors I was expecting. The service was so warm and inviting! Very friendly staff that checked on us a few times to make sure every thing was good. The food came out very fast as well, despite them being very busy with tables, a to-go order, and a rude customer that was complaining things were taking too long. They apologized to him multiple times, but he was just one of those people that like to complain. We had zero issues. And I never give 5 stars, but they deserve it for sure. If you want GREAT Thai food, fast service, and a very friendly and warm staff, look no further. Bangkok West is the place!

This is a must pit stop every time I'm in the area, I've been eating here since 2000. Some plates have changed to accommodate the local pallet, i prefer the old fashion menu that was more aromatic, apparently people complain about cilantro and other herbs in the spring rolls so they make them pretty bland and basic, this was a 2 out of 10 for me, I only ate one piece. I asked why they didn't have all the yummy veggies anymore, and I was told that too many people complained about them lol. So next time I was advised to request my rolls fully loaded. I ordered the green pan nang curry lunch special, my son ordered the curry rice with veggies and tofu and his girlfriend got the sweet n sour tofu with veggies combo. Everything was excellent! They absolutely loved this little GEM, they were so happy I brought them to my favorite spot from my Cabrillo College days.

We thoroughly enjoyed dining here on a recent Saturday evening. The location makes it feel like a hidden gem that can accommodate both large parties and intimate dates. We were greeted by a warm and inviting host who continued to serve us throughout the meal. She was very attentive and sweet! We didn't wait long for food after our order was in, which was perfect because we were hungry. Delicious and solid Thai food! The spicy eggplant and tofu was not spicy as noted on the menu but it was, as everything else, still tasty. We were surrounded by locals, judging by staff's familiarity with other diners coming in after us. We'd later get side eye from another couple who we guessed are regulars that were not happy to find "their" booth occupied and had to settle for another table closer to the door. If Bangkok West was in my neighborhood, I would be a regular diner too!

I am SO glad we did! OMG we had the Tom Yum glass noodle soup. I still can barely believe how delicious it was! I could not get enough. Generous portion, too. It was almost impossible for my friend and I to have a conversation, because with every other bite one of us was expressing our delight in the INTENSE and PERFECT combination of heady flavors in the soup! We also split a Shrimp Pad Thai; the shrimp were LARGE, FAT and cooked perfectly, no chewiness whatsoever. We also had the mussels appetizer; I can usually give or take mussels at most places, but these were also above average, such yummy seasonings. The service was outstanding, as well; knowledgeable, friendly, expeditious. I WILL be back for more items, and will recommend it roundly in my circles!

Yet when you pay at check-out, the tip amount defaults to 18% (yes, a default 18% tip at a fast-casual restaurant), with the alternatives being 20%, 25%, or custom. The lone employee who made eye contact with us was nice, but again--this is a fast-casual restaurant! The edamame was soft and unseasoned. The only condiment on the table was soy sauce (no low-sodium options available) and sushi rolls do not come with wasabi nor ginger. "Bento boxes" are essentially combo meals. When we sent the first edamame back because it was mushy, we received another bowl of flaccid beans back moments later. I suspect they are steamed in bulk, possibly in a bag in a microwave. My gripe with this place that finally pushed me to publish this review was the fried soft shell crab roll. PLEASE, for the love of cuisine, spare yourself from this roll. The crab is fried harder than a well-done Kentucky fried chicken leg, with a sweet sauce smeared over the top to distract from the flavorlessness of the contents. To add insult to injury, one piece had unfurled when this landed at our table. I have never, ever received a deconstructed sushi roll that was not immediately replaced. A minor aesthetic inconvenience for me; but a good illustration of the lack of concern for attention to detail here. I did not enjoy any part of this meal, which cost over $100. My biggest takeaway from this dinner is to never take Reddit reviews of Santa Cruz restaurants seriously again. Of course, nobody asked how my food was.

A friend suggested we grab food and head to the beach, so I decided on Panda Inn, which I'd been wanting to try for some time now. I ordered Singaporean style rice noodles, which is said to be cooked with eggs, and vegetables, and curry sauce. That sounded delicious! On the phone, they asked what protein (ie, chicken, pork), so I chose tofu, which I didn't know at the time had an additional cost. It was +$3 for tofu! (He should have informed me, I think.) The order was prepared quickly and was hot. It was seasoned (salted), but there was no curry flavor (I was surprised to read this in the menu!) I also saw, smelled, felt, and tasted NO TOFU. *sigh*. It wasn't a huge deal, except that I really wanted some substance since that was the main thing I was eating in 2 days, that was what I ordered so I was expecting to see it, AND I had to pay extra for it!
