A friend from church brought me there yesterday. I love the big colorful menu on the walls. Makes it easy to order. The owner (Kevin?) is very nice and friendly, always smiling. Ok, the food, amazing! We order some rolls with salmon and a big entree of sashimi. Everything was so good! The rolls just melt in your mouth. The sashimi are all so fresh! I have tried many sushi places in the Bay Area, Wasabi Sushi is one notch better than the best I had tasted.

Man this sushi was good! Contrary to others, I feel like price wise, you can't beat the amount of fish they give you. I was expecting the portions to be small, but the cuts I got were big and hearty. I ordered at the front and sat outside. The restaurant itself is small so it seems more like a takeout spot however I enjoyed the patio. I definitely recommend if you're a fish lover like myself and I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

    Miso was bomb!

I forgot to take a picture of my roll. It was super good. Service was good. And ambiance is ok. Nothing spectacular. All my food was great!

OVERALL 3.5 STARS ==Service: 4 stars== Someone greeted us when we walked in; we were able to order quickly; we received our food in a timely manner; and workers were very friendly. ==Food: 4 stars== My salmon was small but it tasted good. The deluxe roll was tasty and a decent size. The "basic" roll was small. The miso soup hit the spot on the cold night. My green tea was hot, but I was surprised to see the charge on my check. ==Venue/ambiance: 3 stars== Cute casual place with outdoor seating but it is very small with no bathrooms. ==Location: 4 stars== Easy parking; easy to find; lots of shops nearby ==Cleanliness: 2.5 stars== There were menu "placemats" on the tables though they didn't look clean (ie, there was a scallion or something green on one), so we moved them. We noticed customers at other tables moved theirs too. Also, the disorganization made the place feel unkempt (ie, piece of wood and iPad mini over the door with electric cables haphazardly spilling over looked unsightly and unsafe). Overall I think Wasabi Sushi is worth giving a try if you're in the area or a local. The people who work here are nice and the food is tasty! For me, it will be a great takeout place, and I will be back!

Super delicious and well done thank you for the amazing rolls wasabi! Highly recommend trying a deep fried California roll with cream cheese... amazing!!

Great service and food. Finally a sushi spot priced right. Last minute decision to eat here and didn't regret it. Will definitely be back.

This is the Lion King roll and it's so amazingly delicious. Gotta try it.

New owners, not the same quality. Better off going to sushi garden for awesome sushi.

I tried it multiple times and every time it was amazing! I got bento box for lunch and portion is huge! Generous amount of filling in sushi. It's also very fresh and tasty. One of the best sushi around!

Rolls are large in size and packed with flavor. I especially appreciated the veggie tempura roll which was perfectly battered and had the most satisfying crunch! The special veggie, honeymoon, Spider Tempura Roll, salmon sushi and baked salmon roll were also a hit. The Miso soup was nice and hot with well balanced flavors. The poke bowl was not my husbands favorite with the seaweed causing the rice to go soggy . Restaurant is small with indoor and outdoor seating, clean with a casual ambiance. Service was friendly and fast and we look forward to returning the next time we are in the Santa Cruz area!

Sushi Garden has…read moreextremely fresh and clean cuts of fish and has a super cute garden with a koi pond and an inviting outdoor patio seating!! Inside, natural light floods in through giant windows overlooking the garden. Time to try sushi: - Chirashi - Sushi Garden Special (sashimi + nigiri combo) The fish is incredibly fresh and clean! For either of these, you get thick cuts of buttery melt-in-your-mouth fresh salmon, toro (tuna belly), hamachi. There were other cuts of fish but these truly stood out. For such premium cuts, it's a pretty good deal! Their tamago/egg was tasty and sweet - delicious. The rice itself could use a bit more flavor, but the rolls, on the other hand, were so deliciously flavorful! Overall, the sauces on all the rolls delivered excellent flavor. Not too heavy, salty, or spicy. Great balance and ratio of fish : rice : sauce. the ROLLS we got: - Magic Dragon - This is like a spicier dragon. Great combo of spicy and sweet. Yum! - Trio (from the special menu) - A lighter, all-protein option with no rice. Again, quality buttery salmon right here. - Dr. Woo's - yellowtail inside with albacore outside, great combo with spicy mayo - Volcano roll - spicy tuna topped with seared salmon - like when salmon gets slightly seared, it absolutely is the best! All the rolls were great, but the Magic Dragon and Volcano Roll were my favorites because their flavor profiles were chefs kiss. The staff was incredibly nice and generous. This local establishment has been a staple here for years! Their menu is massive, and while the names of the rolls could be more straightforward, their website has pictures, which helps! They truly have options for everyone, from classic to fusion. Btw free parking! Huge lot.

Wifey and I decided to try a new-to-us place in Santa Cruz for a nice Easter meal…read more We arrived just as they opened, and we were immediately greeted with a friendly smile and welcomed to come in and sit anywhere we liked. The music was on point, and the vibe was super chill. My wife is vegan , and I am pescatarian, and let me say - the menu was abundant with options for both! While we wanted to try everything, we knew we had to pick a few items and save options to try for our next visit. The food was phenomenal! It was clear the chef took his time to craft each roll with texture, flavor, and presentation, all with equal importance. Octavio was our server, and he was attentive, hospitable, and knowledgeable, and even weighed in on helping us make decisions for what to order. This visit felt like I was being disillusioned. The kama was pretty tasty, and the Twin Salmon roll was also good. The texture of the Twin Salmon made it a solid, well-rounded choice. I remember loving Trunks, but it just didn't hit the same this time. The main things that killed it for me was the plates being dirty. We had to ask for new ones, and the fungus gnats! Our mistake for sitting next to the plant, but i hate fungus gnats. They were flying around our food, one flew onto the sushi, and I couldn't get it off. It just killed the whole experience for me.

I've driven past this place almost daily and today we decided to stop by and have dinner here…read more The staff is welcoming and attentive. We were surprised to see both Japanese and Chinese cuisine menus. When our server asked us which menus we wanted to order from, we picked both - just because we wanted to see what kind of food they have. We ordered: 3 Ko Ramen Pork Tonkatsu Five Cracker Roll Agedashi Tofu Garlic Edamame Fresh Salmon Nigiri We are very surprised by how big the portions are. We ordered a lot of food thinking about the other Japanese restaurants we have been to - they have pretty small portions. Not here! The portions are huge! I brought both my boys in their early 20s with me. These two can eat more than I have ever seen anyone eat, and we still couldn't finish everything. We had a lot of leftovers. All the food was wonderful. The Ko ramen is amazing!!! All our food was so fresh and tasted really good. The outside of the building is deceptively small-looking. The place has a lot of seating inside and has a party room as well. Despite the number of diners around us, it didn't sound loud at all, in fact we were able to speak in a very normal indoor volume and we could hear each other perfectly. We found ample parking in the back of the building. No parking fees/meters. Next time we will try the Chinese food too. For now, the Japanese food i would definitely recommend. Will update review after we try the Chinese food. Their prices are really good! They also have a discounted menu of 4 different offerings for students M-F I believe 12pm to 2pm. Those prices are amazing!

I honestly haven't stopped thinking about it. The chow mein was also piping hot and extremely fragrant of garlic as the plate was set in front of me. I haven't stopped thinking of that succulent steam facial, either. I also had a root beer. Life should always be perfect tempura and your favorite soda. The service was great as well. They replied with a genuine "enjoy" to each of my "thank-you's", and also spoke very kindly and gave great service to the considerably under-spoken guy at the booth next to mine. Con: The place is old as dirt and needs to be gutted. I don't think it was 'sticky' tablecloth dirty, but I was pleasantly surprised that the bathroom was very clean and tidied. The smell when I entered the restaurant quickly let me know that something was wrong with the sewer lines, or something. Like, I almost left before anyone saw me stroll into the empty place, ok? There was a gal who was walking in to scope the place out for she and her friends as I was leaving. She didn't stay. I was waiting for an Uber as she hightailed it back to her car declaring "Well, I guess I haven't been there in a while..." into her phone. Overall, I'm glad I stayed to give an old place a new try for the first time in... 15 years? Not surprised that all of the orders were being picked up by DoorDash, etc, but also not surprised at how many orders were being pickup up, one after another. I need tempura and rooty beer this week. Not sure if I'd ever be brave enough to give their sushi menu a try, though.

When I went, no one was in line, so the friendly staffer greeted us and told us she could take our order. When I was debating between 2 dishes, she described the salmon and that sealed my decision - haha. Order, ready! The portions were HUUUGE! The dishes were delicious! I can't get over how tender and flavorful my salmon was, yet the skin was crispy! (I don't usually eat the skin, but I did! That tells you how well they cooked it!) The chicken katsu had TWO layers of chicken! And each lunch plate had two scoops of rice and one scoop of Mac salad. They tasted like traditional Hawaiian cuisine. We sat outside on the main patio so we could be in the sun and watch the cars and passerby's from the beach. It was so nice to be a couple blocks from the ocean. The only negatives -- though small ones -- were parking is street parking because they only have two onsite spots, and they are super casual dining (like it's common to see customers in bathing suits and flip flops here), so it may not be a place to go if you're on a date or wanting to take out of towners or clients.
