We had to make an overnight stop on our way up north. The staff were all friendly and kind. We did have to check in late at night. Having a 24 hour check in was helpful because we didn't know exactly when we would get there. The rooms were very clean!! Breakfast was great and having servers to help us was a nice touch. Wow great spot! Dave is super nice. Last minute $140 with taxes. Room is all you can ask for. TV works and bed is comfortable. Cute shopping area nearby. No fridge but yes ice machine (free!) so good to fill cooler up. Great breakfast! Good gluten free and kosher options. Milk yogurt fresh coffee (decaf too!) oatmeal packets, milk, individual cereal, yogurts, bagels, toaster, bananas, fresh donuts, eggs, fresh fruit (watermelon), sausages, other hot food, juices, waffles, whipped cream. Where do I begin, I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. My father was transported from Fort Kent Hospital to Bangor as he was dealing with an illness that kept him in a hospital for 5 weeks. We needed a place for our mother to stay that was reasonably price. When we arrived everyone was so nice. We explained our situation and without hesitation we knew this was the place we were staying. Clean rooms, breakfast and incredible staff. I knew my mother was not only comfortable but safe as she was traveling back and forth to the hospital. We are beyond greatful that such a place exists and a special thank you to Terri for watching over my mother and taking time to sit and talk to her during moments that were difficult, you went above and beyond. I want to be able to give this place a better review, I really and truly do. But there were issues; not severe, but issues nevertheless. The lobby was clean and the front desk lady was nothing but friendly, so props for THAT. But the room smelled very faintly of marijuana (I'm guessing the housekeeping staff doesn't have ozone machines?) Not the hotel's fault that a previous guest was so inconsiderate, but this could have been remedied much better. In general, though, the room was clean. But the other issue is that our air conditioner shit the bed sometime around 11PM, making the room a bit warmer than we'd normally like. At least the staff were friendly and attentive, but there's room for improvement. read more

This place is awesome. Rooms are dated sure, but in a cool way(blue toilet and shower) and despite stuff being old it's in good shape. No cigarette odors and the beds were nice. The staff is awesome, there's a great attitude among everyone. Breakfast is awesome as well, fresh fruit, real eggs, waffle makers, coffee is good as well. read more

Rude staff and not clean - pay the extra 10$ and go to quality inn across the street I would like to offer you a better review as someone from Maine , but as it is - wth 1 star as my option I wish I had a "negative star " cuz they deserve it - MINUS HOTEL RATING I would never stay here if your from here or not. Staff is rude , careful of ursela - she will call the cops if you smell like cannabis! Look. This isn't the Ramada. It's a little run-down and fairly out-of-fashion, but it offers a decent place to stay in the area. Right off of the highway and pretty close to downtown Bangor (about a 10 minute drive). It's located right in the business/commercial district, so you have your fair share of big-box stores around. Staff is friendly and our room was cleaned well (TIP YOUR MAID!). Breakfast was filling and good--staff even brought some homemade pastries to accompany the usual continental breakfast suspects. Verdict? If you're looking for a non-chain hotel and aren't too particular about decor, definitely hit this place up. read more

The Bangor Inn & Suites was an excellent choice of stay for a couple of days in Bangor, ME. The staff were courteous and helpful the whole time. A couple of days spent there made me feel like Bangor, ME was my home with the locals. The all you can eat breakfast was superb, I recommend the make-your-own homemade waffles that are huge and delicious with the syrup with orange juice and New England Coffee. The room was clean and cozy with a helpful travel brochure offering things do in Bangor, ME including where to eat and shop. read more

We needed one more night before heading back home from vacation. We found this hotel on trip advisor and years ago states here. Well it definitely hasnt changed much including yhe rooms. They are slightly updated it still looks like an old motel. The door on the armour pinched everyone's finger. There were burn marks on floor in bathroom and towels had stains on them. They have firm mattresses that were clean. the price was good for area which is why we gave it a shot. You do get what u pay for definitely. Its an inexpensive way to stay and no amenities. Breakfast was nice. We were in the Inn for about 8 hours and I'm good with that. read more

This is an average Inn. They have put in all what people want. Fridge, coffee maker. Etc. All fitted in. A bit dated but very clean. I got a handicapped accessible king bed room. It had a tub but lots of rails. It worked for me. It was fine and the price made it great! The person who checked us in, Ursula, was great! read more

Truly, a shelter from the storm .... A few weeks back, early Aug we traveled to Maine with some friends. The highlight of the trip was our plan to hike Mt Katahdin - up the Helon Taylor trail, across the Knife Edge, down the Saddle trail. It's only 10.6 (+/-) miles but if you've ever been there, you know it's an awful long day. That got longer as it went. We prepared for the worst (it's entirely possible you could get snowed in up top, even in August), meaning our packs were awful heavy. We couldn't camp any closer than Abol, so had to drive around to Roaring Brook at 5AM. By the time we brewed coffee and set out, it was 80 degrees and wonderfully sunny at the base. A few grueling hours later, we admired the view from Pamola peak, where the wind was blowing 15 mph, and temps more like 50 degrees. We had already broken out shell gear ... but at least it was still sunny. Just sunny enough to suck us onto the Knife Edge. Then the wind brought white clouds, then dark clouds, much colder air, and then the ominous sense we better get off the ridge quick ... though of course you might as well try to get off the moon quick at that point. So we pulled on winter gear, endured some sketchy moments involving breaking rock holds, injuries, and knock-you-off-balance gusts, and finally got off the Knife Edge. Heading down from Baxter peak, conditions were still ominous, and we were acutely aware we weren't yet out of the danger zone ... so you can imagine our incredulity at watching several parties of tourons heading up past us, already shivering and miserable in their cotton shorts and t-shirts. Obviously trying their best to prove Darwin got a few minor parts of his theory right. Anyways we managed to get all the way down to Chimney Pond before conditions got bad. But right away they got real bad. Cold, hard, heavy, unrelenting, hypothermia-inducing rain. The river bed we had earlier observed as a long dry path of boulders was suddenly raging. The trail we were supposed to hike was suddenly a 2 foot deep tributary. So ... about 5 minutes into this, my wife (and soon thereafter John's wife) proclaimed that it sure was going to be nice to get to the hotel we better be taking them to. Of course John and I insisted we were still up for camping (yeah, right) ... but when we got to camp we discovered someone had conveniently left both of our tent's rain flies open, and our sleeping bags were already wet. Yep, time to tear down camp - a hotel was now our destiny. Little did we realize that the entire central portion of the state had the same idea. It was a Monday night - but we quite literally got the last two rooms in Bangor, perhaps in 50 miles (lots of would-be guests arriving just after us to inquire at the lobby told horror stories of trying every hotel from Acadia to Bangor without success). Under different conditions ... I'd probably give this place two stars. Maybe one. Our room was horribly smoky. The shower/tub was stained. It was dim lighting and dirty carpet and tacky-even-back-in-1978 decor. Nobody would mistake this place for the Ritz. Then again, it sure beat the heck out of a night in Davy Jones campground. The night staff was incredibly patient and friendly despite the chaos. They gave us a fair price - it was probably the high end of their rack rate, but they could almost certainly have found takers at twice that. The included continental breakfast was decent enough. And the morning staff were pleasant and helpful as well. For reference, I might have given Bates motel 3 stars under the circumstances ... so take the rating for what it is. But I'm not complaining, Bangor Motor Inn did right by us. Who knows, we might even stop there again sometime .... read more

We stayed at Bangor Motor Inn for just one night, as we were travelling to another state the next day. We walked inside and my nose filled with the smell of smoke, even though the signs that were placed on the room doors said it was non-smoking, as well as signs that i had seen outside that stated that this was a non-smoking establishment (clearly not) our room as well, smelt slightly of smoke but definitely not as bad as it had been within the halls. Our room was quite interesting to say the least, the TV was like from the 1960's or around then. Our beds were okay i guess they weren't the most comfy thing to sleep but it worked. The blankets felt cheap and very dated and like they hadn't been washed in a while, but that is just my opinion. The bathroom in our room was not bad necessarily, but the literally it was blue, the sink, the toilet, and the bathtub/shower all colored in this bright blue. This place overall is very, VERY dated and it could definitely use an update. Would i ever stay here again? Not a chance, pay extra and stay at a much more clean and not smoke smelling place. Any place but this one would be better! read more

Stayed there in July 2014 ahead of early morning flight out from Bangor airport. A little dated, but otherwise perfectly fine. Friendly morning staff had some breakfast stuff out at 4:30 a.m., which was great since our flight was at 6:15 a.m. In room coffee maker, free wifi, free breakfast. Very clean. read more

The best part about this place is the staff. Friendly at the check out desk, sweet at the free breakfast and caring and thorough maid service. The breakfast was good. There were eggs, sausage, waffles, fruit, sometimes baked beans and homemade muffins along with standard continental breakfast eats. Both the women we saw running the breakfast were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure everyone had what they were looking for. This place is quite dated (our ac unit was missing the cover/the 'new'paint job didn't reach the floor so you could see the old paint) however the rugs appeared new and it was nice and clean....the most important part to me. I know some rooms had been renovated and some not so others might have been better than ours. read more

We had a suite with 2 full bathrooms - plenty for a group Canadians doing cross boarder shopping! Staff gave us cheat sheets to tell us were the shops were as well as what times they opened at breakfast time. Free breakfast as well - sweet! We booked this hotel two weeks ago, intending to spend one night. I held the reservation with my Visa card. Upon arrival at 10:30pm (after driving all day), the front desk clerk advised me that she had cancelled our reservation because my card was declined. Knowing this was not possible, I told her there must have been an error on her part. She was quite rude, stating "I tried it several times - so I doubt it. Your card is no good". I checked my card number against the paper she had been using to record the number, and it was a match. So I asked her to try entering the transaction again. It went through without any problem. At that point, I expected an apology...ha! All I got was "well it didn't work before, and we have no rooms". I asked her if she had attempted to contact me regarding the credit card problem...her answer: "No, I don't have to. Your card didn't work, so I cancelled your reservation." So here we are (myself, my husband and another couple) at 10:30pm, five hours from home with no hotel. There was a concert over the weekend, so practically every decent hotel within a one hour drive from Bangor was booked solid. I was furious, mostly at her callous and disrespectful attitude, and extremely disappointed with the lack of very basic customer service. We went across the street to another hotel where I described our situation. This front desk clerk had at least a very basic understanding of customer service, so she very graciously called around and found us the last two hotel rooms in the city. Unfortunately, they were smoking rooms but we had to take what we could get at that point. I understand that if the credit card does not work - for whatever reason - a hotel can't be expected to hold a room for what may not work out, but what got me here was this lady's attitude. No apology when she realized it was HER error and not a problem with the card; no attempt to contact us when the "problem" was realized; no offer to assist us in finding alternate accommodations...I wish I had her name, because you're darn right I'd be posting it on here. That woman has no interpersonal or communication skills whatsoever. I'm half skeptical she even ran the card to begin with. Seems pretty strange to me that she said it declined several times, but was accepted immediately when she typed the number in while I was there. How convenient on a night when I bet there were people willing to "tip" a front desk clerk to get a room when the city is booked solid. read more
