The service is fast - I was able to run into Sprouts to grab horchata. Food was ready when I returned. The Banh Mi was fine - I had it with Vietnamese chicken. In the end I ended up ordering one of their "signature" banh mis- shaking beef The choice was made easy by a visual menu attached to the wall (I love a good picture to get me excited for my food). I'm not sure what happened at this location, but there are signs indicating they have the authority to refuse service to anyone, and one indicating that they will not refund after the food is prepared. My shaking beef banh mi was fresh, the bread was good. The jalepeno was no joke. Shaking beef replicated the dish (with grilled onions and bell peppers). New to me, it wasn't my favorite, but I'm glad I tried it. My largest opportunity for improvement was the beef. Certain bites were tender, but so chewy that I eventually had to spit them out. This place is okay. I've tried their pho and I've tried their banh mi and while it's good, I have my own grievances with either dish. Regarding the pho, I feel like it isn't as flavorful or as well-cooked as it could be. This could be my personal preference, but I like more flavor in my pho. It's just very, very light and one-note. The accoutrement help a bit but not much - I wish the meat brought something more to the party. Their banh mi is decent; however, I got a rogue jalapeño once and it was EXTREMELY SPICY - I cried! I feel their vermicelli bowls are where it's at. I love their grilled pork and the egg rolls they serve with is phenomenal. The staff are never very engaging. this is officially my second visit, but first review of Banh Mi and Tea. It is located between Sprouts and Snappy Nail Salon. It's easy to find since it is the only Banh Mi place in this lot. As you walk inside, you are greeted with good music and a sort of warm cozy environment. The food here is fresh and seems to be consistent to my last visit. My egg rolls came out piping hot with the perfect crispness. I also ordered a pork banh mi with extra patí. This was definitely good to the last bite, its actually the reason i came back and it was worth it! Pairing all of this with a Tai tea to wash it all down.. I bring my family of 4 here all the time. Today I tried a new dish and immediately sent it back. I didn't ask for a refund, I just asked if it could be changed for a different soup. The cashier said she couldn't change it because who was going to eat it. I explained that I didn't like the soup and they said still they can't do anything about it but I could pay for another one if I liked. I was finally offered a discount on another meal. I have had restaurants for 10 years and have worked in hospitality restaurants for over 15. This was not how this should have been handled. My orders barely come out right and I order frequently, and Im quite well spoken so it is not a communication issue, it is simply consistent employee error. After not ordering for a couple weeks I wanted to give them another go because of how close they are to me but was instead served this as my eggroll/sandwich combo. Is this acceptable to be served?
