That black chunk was a charred piece of pork I couldn't even bite through
    Eric H.

I don't know if this place changed owners or what but today was a major disappointment. They had us put our own orders in the register and pay which was fine, we could tell they were busy being only 2 staff members now. But then it took a very long time for the order to come out only for them to say they ran out of pork for one sandwich and it would be longer to get the chicken instead. Then the first bite of my sandwich was a charred piece of pork I couldn't bit through. Rest of the sandwich was all just charred meat with not a good flavor. They have also reduced their bread size overall. This is so sad to see this place which used to be a regular fall off. Almost every table was covered with trash post rush and they didn't seem keen to pick up

A very Houston-ish parking strip mall.

The place is super clean and the service is friendly. The prices are also just about right. For the food... I just drove four hours from Dallas after flying from Charlotte earlier this morning. I did have a 12oz Red Bull on the second half of the trip so I wasn't super hungry but I was definitely on the side of: "I can eat." The Grilled Chicken Sandwich sometimes tasted like pork, but I guess it was chicken. Maybe it was just super-duper grilled. Also, based on my past experiences with Vietnamese food, the freshness of the vegetables pop! I didn't get a pop here. Everything was fresh, but no Fresh Pop! I enjoyed the sandwich but I wasn't amazed. Imagine eating a sandwich that was the equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys. It was kind of like that. Good but not amazing. The Wonton Soup was definitely different than Chinese Wonton Soup. Then again, this is the first time I ever had Vietnamese Wonton Soup. I don't know the norm, but in this instance, there was a lot more pork than wonton, and they are smaller wontons. I recommend this restaurant if you're looking for solid food. I'm just not sure if you will remember it a year later. I did get there at an off-peak time on a weekday, which can be a huge factor. Therefore, I recommend giving the benefit of the doubt and giving it a shot.

My coworker introduced us to Banh Mi ETC. We ordered food to go. I was very impressed with the food. The banh mi sandwiches are loaded with meat. The sandwich seemed a little bigger than normal too, which I loved. I got a milk tea with no sugar and it was so yummy. Since we got it to-go, they had it cold even with no ice which was nice! We also ordered eggrolls, that came with 4, and they were very good with the dipping sauce and wrapped in the lettuce they provided. Definitely enjoyed and pricing is reasonable.

Great food and fantastic customer service! I always feel welcomed in here and they're very accommodating with allergies! As a vegan due to food allergies I love love love ordering from somewhere that won't judge me and won't mess up my order. This place is a 10/10 and I visit REGULARLY

I'm not a big fan of the service I received. When I placed my order over the phone for takeout, they said it would take 7-10 minutes. I came in later than that due to traffic (arrived approx. 5:10 pm), and it seemed like they didn't even start to prepare my food in that time. During peak hours, I'd understand that there may be some slow ups, but I was one of two customers they were serving at once. While the cashier was taking my payment, she asked what type of spring rolls I wanted, which should have been asked over the phone. I wanted something quick before I finish up work, but I ended up waiting much later to receive my meal. And why does the Yelp menu not have their entire menu? It's missing all the teas and smoothies they serve which I believe to be the main draw to come here. I'd like to be able to order a tea over the phone without having to ask which teas they offer every time I place an order. I posted a picture of their menu with this review so anyone reading this can see the whole menu.

Fast and friendly service. Clean eating space and bathroom. Some of the best baguette I've had in a banh mi shop! I had the special and there was a good portion of homemade mayo, pate along with the usual assortment of pickled and fresh veggies. The jalapeños seeds were removed so it had a slight kick but wasn't too spicy.

Best Banh mi I've had this far! Came in just passing thru headed to Hmart with my kiddos and the sandwiches here are soooo delicious. We ordered 3 chicken banh mi and 8 egg rolls. Let me tell you these sandwiches are soooooo yummy and fresh and very tasty. Bread is so crunchy yet so soft. The eggrolls are to die for! They have that special touch of flavor and came hot and ready to eat. The service was amazing, we were treated so well and I'm very thankful! I will definitely be back again because they are amazing! All my foodies come thru! This is the spot!!!

Spring rolls, not to go, pre-packaged

50/50 about this place on first visit and will try again. My 2 peers had vermicelli bowls that I will try next time. I had the wonton soup and the wonton were definitely not fresh and tasted like they were pre-frozen so was not the best tasting. The soup liquid was fresh as well as the onions. I also ordered the fresh spring rolls, which were brought to me pre-packaged so were also not made fresh to order. Will try them again on other menu items though for now was not the best.

The filling is placed in a pan and then a thin layer of batter made with tumeric and coconut milk yellow batter is poured on top. You wrap the lettuce around the bánh xèo/bánh khọt and dip it in the fish sauce. I got the bánh khọt and the bò né. Bánh khọt is like a mini, thicker version of bánh xèo and came with nine pieces. Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. It's nice having an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in our area, close to us, so we don't have to make the trek to Bellaire every time we crave some Viet food!

I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. The restaurant is clean, the owner is very nice, and it's a nice low key space to just enjoy a good meal with friends or family.
