A new place for bahn mi sandwiches in the Greenpoint BK area. Not totally authentic though. Takeout. I was able to try 2 different sandwiches. First off was the grilled chicken sandwich. Pretty good. Chicken was well flavored. The fresh bread was perfectly toasted. A nice rendition. This deserved 4 stars. Second sandwich I tried, is the short rib. A good cut of meat, nice and lightly marinated. But ... Unfortunately this is where the 2 stars come in. I find it offensive that a restaurant thinks it's ok to serve you burnt food. This is definitely not ok! It's like they don't care. The bread was overly toasted to a very dark brown, which also made it dry and super hard. I ended up throwing out the bread and just eating the filling. This meal was for takeout so I didn't realize any of this until I got home. Also I found out later after, that if you purchase 2 banh mi sandwiches, you get a free shrimp roll. I was not given a shrimp roll or informed of this by the cashier, when I made the purchase of 2 sandwiches. Also apparently if you buy one sandwich you are given a free bubble tea, which I also didn't know until way later. In essence, customer service and quality control is lacking at this place. Sandwich condiments. They use Hellman's mayonnaise. And for spiciness, they use Sriracha sauce instead of traditional jalapeno slices. Didn't like the Sriracha. Would have preferred jalapeno peppers for heat. Make sure to mention spicy or not. Seating. Very little. Inside there is only a couple of high counter window seating. Outside there is two small wooden tables. One for two people. Another one for four people. Decor. Very basic and utilitarian. A small tight spot. There is a TV high on the wall, off to the side, showing a food program. Final note: they need to increase their standards on quality control. No more serving burnt bread!

Hole in the wall Vietnamese place. Got the traditional banhmi sandwich and it was really good. Packed with flavor, crispy and soft bread. The iced Vietnamese coffee also great, a little sweet but as the ice melted the balance was all there. Enjoyed it sitting outside on a nice Sunday. Will be back to try the pho and other versions of their banhmi!

Hole in the wall Vietnamese "coffee shop". it's the food that is recommended here. I Had their traditional Banh Mi and it was great. The bread was authentic and fresh. They also have pho and rice boxes which i'm excited to try. There's not much seating inside, just a couple of chairs so it's mostly take away, the prices are reasonable and the service is fast. The only condiment that they serve is Sriracha.

My daughter eats there several times a week. The food is delicious and it is under rated.

There's the main seating area and then two offshoot lounges, which aren't quite as cozy but offer different levels of quiet and ambience. I love all the random décor, antique signs, old arcade games as tables, a million lamps. It's like what nook is going for but you can actually sit down on a comfy couch most of the time. The guy working the counter has a lot of energy and clearly loves being there. The PB banana smoothie was yummy, very thick so could use a spoon. Mushroom toast was a bit pricey but you did get a lot of food for your money, the focaccia was crunchier than expected but all around a nice cafe bite. I just appreciate how this is such a gathering spot where you can watch bk life play out while working, it had a different energy from a lot of places in the area.

Shucks I wanted to give this place five stars but it didn't start so well. The first barista who…read moretook my order was really great. I first ordered a chai latte and he said I could do two different syrups so I got the pumpkin and salted maple, though I was worried about it being too sugary so he suggested I could just do half a pump of each. He asked me what the name of the order would be and I said "Aida" (the phonetic spelling is ah-EE-dah). And then I heard the other barista say something along the lines of, "oh Aida, how about 'Aida' rather not be here", pretty rude if you ask me. And then I ordered the spicy nook sandwich. And when another server called my named to grab it she didn't even knowledge me when I tried to thank her and instead she talked to her coworker while I was right in front of her. The sandwich was really good, so was my chai tea. I really like the pumpkin and salt and maple syrups too. I did like all the options for seating although it was pretty packed. I'd say if you have a big party get there early. By 7pm the whole place was filled. There was a huge majong club that came in and took the whole back area, it was so crammed there were lines for the bathroom. Over all I had a good time. I really like the music too just know it gets very busy in there. The employees I would say were hit or miss. The ones that were great though I really liked. Just seem like the ones who didn't really give attention to customers or were kind of rude seemed like they didn't wanna be there.
