I came here for a quick small bite and it wasn't a bad spot! The interior of the restaurant is cozy, casual, and a bit homey. You order at the counter, are given a number, and the food is brought out to your table once it's ready. I got their popcorn chicken and their pan-fried pork dumplings. Both dishes were good but nothing spectacular. Although the portion and quality of the popcorn was good, I wish there was more seasoning and basil leaves as it felt a bit bland. The dumplings were also okay and I wish it came with additional sauce to dip in on the side. Overall, good spot for some quick Taiwanese food in the area.

Cute and spacious spot. Beef Noodle Soup cured my cravings but it's a bit on the bland side, which can be more flavorful. Popcorn Chicken was a bit lack in flavor.

My husband ordered delivery from here a few weeks ago--I hadn't known we were in the delivery area (we're in Crown Heights) but was excited to try. We go the Lu rou fan (braised pork and rice), beef noodle soup, and fried pork dumplings. Everything was delicious. Reminded me of Taiwan. I had heard that they were opening another location in Prospect Heights and was thrilled that they had a soft opening this weekend! We went today and ordered fried seafood dumplings, lu rou fan again (my husband's favorite), and popcorn chicken. Omg. I had forgotten how good Taiwanese popcorn chicken is. Crispy and savory. Everything was delicious and fresh. Loved the casual vibe of the space. So excited to have a Taiwanese restaurant within walking distance!!

For some reason it's just so difficult to find impressive and affordable Taiwanese food in New York. While this isn't the most price friendly the food is impressive! This place has an interesting ambiance of bar vs cafe shop combination. The round tables - reminds me of the family style round table you'd see at authentic dim sum places. Taiwanese food is commonly enjoyed family style so grab a couple of friends to dine here! We ordered a couple items to share: - Popcorn chicken 9/10 - Ru Lou Fan, braised pork rice with tofu 10/10 - Fried oyster mushroom 10/10 - Winter melon tea (Perfect for the summer ;)) The highlight was the braised pork rice. I love the Ru Lou Fan when it has an equality distribution of lean pork and pork belly. Traditionally people like to use majority the pork belly part but while delicious, it's too fatty and guilty for me. The side dishes paired are also very essential. I really liked how they served the dish with bakchoy, braised egg, dried tofu, and most importantly the yellow pickled daikon (classic!). I'm drooling now thinking about this dish - it's definitely my favorite ru lou fan in New York. The friend oyster mushroom is a popular night market snack. It's so guilty but delicious! Once you get the first bite, you can't stop reaching for another. The seasoning is similar to what you would expect for Taiwanese peppercorn chicken. Don't forget to grab a winter melon tea especially this hot summer! It's not super sweet and is the perfect sip with your savory bites. I highly recommend anyone to visit this charming and quirky place!

If you like short reviews: food: excellent, people: excellent, space: excellent; for a longer analysis of the excellent formosa read along: I know not what has compelled me, but dumplings have been my primary craving of late. When I tell you this place is dangerous, I mean DANGEROUS. I got some pan friend dumplings (chicken and chive) with their noodles. Let's start with the noodles: perfect amount of spice. Creamy, and enough broth to keep everything loose and free. The bok choy has great crunch with the excellent sesame flavor. The dumplings are elite. So good. Bursting with flavor. A bit crunchy on the griddled sides and the others still soft, doughy. Every bite was perfection. They had 2 folks working with a semi open kitchen. The counter worker was full of life and super energetic. I was loving it. It was mid afternoon so it was a bit slow but all who entered were greeted with excitement. The vibes are great. It is a pretty low key spot. Great to study, go on a fun quiet date and just vibe. Love love love!

A small but unassuming shop around the corner, Formosa brings hip but authentic Taiwanese cuisine to Bushwick. Once you enter, don't expect to get seated right away - walk up to the counter to order! If you decide to dine in, let the friendly staff know and they'll bring your order right to your table. Pork and chive dumplings: 5/5, these dumplings were huge! Definitely a big enough portion for me. Thin crispy skin, subtly spicy and sweet soy glaze and filled to the brim. They did not skimp on the filling Honestly wished I lived closer so I get to eat here more often - definitely would recommend to stop by here for a visit, especially if you're a dumpling connoisseur ‍ kk thanks for reading

I wouldn't necessarily call this restaurant authentic or the highest quality, but it's always nice to see more Asian-focused restaurants in Bushwick as someone who enjoys Asian food myself. The service and setting is great. Warm and comforting place for a friend catch-up or little date. My favorite is the Winter Melon Tea!!

New spot in Bushwick serving Taiwanese cuisine in a very modern but warm ambiance. Food was fairly mediocre, we had the Lu Ro Fan which was not very warm, and was mostly rice with a minimal amount of meat, tofu, and vegetables. The dumplings were fairly good though. Staff were all friendly and cheerful. Prices are fairly high for the area, all the rice and noodle dishes are $15+ and the portion sizes are not large.

The actual area itself is quite cute, and I like the way the interior was decorated. It has a very minimal vibe, but it really suits the place and the neighborhood. We got an Iced Americano, a Mortadella Scallion Pancake Sandwich, and a cocktail called Lovers Quarrel. The drinks were honestly pretty good and very much needed for the weather. The cocktail had this airy tart taste that perfectly matched the vibe of the drink. The sandwich itself was good, however it was extremely oily. The actual taste of the sandwich reminded me a lot more of Indian Omelets than Scallion Pancakes, but regardless, was still tasty, just wish it had less oil. They typically bring the drinks and food over to your table if you decide to sit at a table, which makes it a lot more convenient. The people working there were also doing an amazing job, so kudos to them. Overall not bad, maybe I might come back when it's cooler for the dessert items.

We walked into a space with an energetic atmosphere, an open kitchen, bar seating, and a menu designed for sharing, the kind of place that feels best experienced with a group. The room had a vibrant, social energy with a steady buzz of conversation and the clatter of plates, and the layout encouraged ordering multiple dishes to pass around the table. While the space could get loud and busy during peak dinner hours, the lively environment fit the restaurant's casual and social style. The menu highlights a mix of Taiwanese classics alongside more playful creations. We ordered a few dishes and found the beef noodle soup standing out with a rich, flavorful broth, tender beef, and chewy noodles that made it one of the most satisfying items on the menu. The popcorn chicken was another signature dish, served hot and crispy with plenty of seasoning, making it an easy choice to share at the table. Cold sesame noodles, braised pork rice, and the shrimp floss lettuce cups were also worth considering if we were looking to try a variety of flavors, each arriving well composed and thoughtfully seasoned. Dessert was one of the more memorable parts of the meal. The fried tang yuan served with ice cream offered a creative twist on the traditional Taiwanese rice dumpling, combining a crispy exterior with a chewy center and cold, creamy ice cream. It was one of the more unique desserts on the menu and made a great way to end the meal. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, and the staff were happy to make recommendations if we were unfamiliar with Taiwanese cuisine. Because Wenwen has become a popular destination, reservations are highly recommended, and walk-in waits can easily reach 30 to 60 minutes during busy evenings. The team moved through the room with efficiency, and the pacing of the meal kept the flow steady without feeling rushed. Overall, Wenwen offers a fresh take on Taiwanese cuisine while staying rooted in many classic flavors. The combination of well-executed comfort food, creative desserts, and an energetic atmosphere makes it a great choice whether we were already familiar with Taiwanese food or trying it for the first time.
