My husband and I had a killer dinner at Francaise a couple of weeks ago. The stand outs were the Limincello Spritz cocktail (fresh, zesty, and a little too easy to drink. Ha!) and the Steak and Frites. Easily the best steak I have ever had in a restaurant. It was a busy Thursday when we went, only two folks working front of house, and they were hustling! We have frequented Francaise on several occasions. The food, staff and ambiance are excellent. It's a great spot for date night, a celebration or solo excursion. Escargot, pate de champagne, salade lyonnaise, oeufs farcis, steak frites, croque madame and warm out of the oven beignets are just a few of our favorites. The only food item that left us scratching our heads was their delicious pommes frites with the addition of their house made truffle oil. Been wanting to try this place and finally got the chance. This place was excellent! Went in on a Saturday at 4 and Happy Hour was still going which means we could try most of the dishes at lower prices. We started with a French red wine and baguette and French onion soup which was delicious. It was full of bread, cheese, onions and tasty broth. I had the Steak frites with a side of sauté mushrooms and roasted garlic. Delicious! Lots of tasty frites with a garlic aioli that I couldn't get enough of. The steak was medium rare just the way I like it. My husband got the croque madam which he loved. His came with roasted potatoes. We finished off with beignets- 3 good size with delicious strawberry jelly. The food was exquisite to my liking when I ordered the Macaroni Gratin Pasta noodles with Mushroom and Garlic to go with a Lemon Sage Delight Mocktail which was a perfect combo to go with my dinner meal while the rest of family ordered Le burger with side of fries. The service was not bad since it was overly crowded with lots of customers but we were able to seated with our family size at the table. It takes A LOT to get me out of my kitchen and trying someone else's food, but, the owner of this restaurant also owns the Gilded Unicorn and I KNEW, if I wanted good food, it was gonna be at either Adam Hegsted or Michael Wiley's restaurants. They're the only two I leave my kitchen for!!! We were here for the 10 year anniversary of the night my husband proposed. It was a random Wednesday, but Francaise still delivered. Ill start with the service, which was superb. The waiter saw I had put in a reservation and had our table set for us, against the wall and very private. Also very romantic. Loved it. The waiter was excellent throughout. Showing up at exactly the right times without being over bearing. We started with cocktails. The French press martini was not to be missed! Not too sweet and excellent flavor. Then I moved on to the French onion soup with gruyere cheese!!! I love it when its not made with Swiss. The broth had amazing flavor and the crust was perfection with all the melty delicious cheese! My husband had the duck which was excellent and I had the 4oz steak frites off the happy hour which was the perfect size after my soup. The steak was cooked perfectly and so much flavor! We each had a glass of cabernet with our meals and at the end, we threw caution to the wind and got two desserts! The caramel apple tart and the beignets! Cleaned both plates too. Zero leftovers on anything. It was just too good!! If you're a foodie and can't find anything good outside your own kitchen, but need to celebrate a special day, come here!! Inside the restaurant is gorgeous, charming & green. Great music. Romantic at night with the hanging lights. The house bread is amazing, as are the warm olives. We shared the deviled eggs & the clams, both were 10 out of 10. For mains we ordered the steak frites & the coq au van chicken, both had fresh, quality ingredients and the flavors were developed. After looking at the menu online, my sister and I stopped in for dinner on a Saturday evening since she lived nearby. It's a cute and cozy establishment with a well done interior design. I ordered the burger and my sister the steak frites, with an upgrade to the truffle fries. All the food was delicious and the fries were superb. Even the sage lemonade my sister ordered was tasty, not too heavy on the sage (who would've thought of the combination!). My only complaint is about the upgrade fee for the truffle fries, a hefty $7. The restaurant was lovely, our server was friendly and the perfect amount of attentive. Everything we ate was just sublime, I was doing my happy tummy dance basically the whole time. Started with cocktails, I had the South for the winter which was a smoked pineapple rum drink and my husband had an old fashioned with honeycomb but I forget what it was called. We shared the wild mushroom pate plate and got a second loaf of bread, I will be trying to recreate this dish at home. My pic of it is not great but holy moly, we wanted to lick the jar clean. Followed it with splitting the steelhead bouillabaisse dish with clams and potatoes. Cooked perfectly, tasted great. I would eat it again but want to try another entree the next time I'm in town. Dessert was a chocolate hazelnut terrine and my husband and I made sure to eat exactly half of it each and I may have threatened him with my fork when he tried to eat some of my share. I forgot to take a photo but 100% recommend. We were slightly stuffed even splitting that, and the drinks were strong - if I'd had another we would have needed to take a walk to sober up to drive home. read more

My partner and I visited Francaise for the first time last night. The ambiance is warm and welcoming while maintaining a chic vibe. I really love the plants at the entrance! Our waiter was friendly and attentive. He was knowledgeable about the menu and was more than happy to make drink recommendations (we had difficulty deciding). There was a large party seated near us so food took longer than expected but, goodness, it was fantastic! I ordered the goat cheese tart with mushrooms. The crust was perfect and the vegetables were roasted to perfection. My partner ordered the lyonnaise salad with the duck and the piece of duck I had from them was excellent. I have no idea, maybe this place is good for brunch, but their dinner offerings are expensive and average. We were a party of 6, let's get into it. We opened with bread and butter and pate. Good, though $8 for bread on a meal that was going to cost $100 a person seems petty. Our party ordered two mock tails. They weren't finished, even though it was a family situation and many people had a sip. They are sugary drinks, not good enough, not sophisticated at all. In the main course the ribeye steak special was bad. Pepper rub couldn't be tasted for most of the piece. The cooked vegetables well done, don't understand the salad on top. Not enough flavor, tough, maybe the worse dish I have had at a French restaurant? More a special at a diner for $12. The salmon with crispy skin was soggy, but the sauce was good. There were other main dishes ordered, the young lady with show the Mac and cheese really loved it. Dessert beignets were marginal, need to go to New Orleans and try some good ones. The crêpe was good. You can't be this expensive and put food this average on the table. I'm not going back, suggest you avoid this place. read more

We visited Francaise during It's third week since opening. At that time, there was only a dinner shift. It will be open for lunch daily and brunch Thursday thru Sunday, according to our server. The restaurant is not fully staffed and appeared to be short of wait staff, cooks and a host. Naturally, there were some awkward service intervals which will be worked out as the staffing and management evolve. The restaurant is nicely decorated, with a variety of seating found in most bistros: Padded high stools, regular seating and tables scattered about the large room. There is a small bar in the back. The decor suggests funky and classic French. We dived into the menu, sampling the Lyonnaise Salad, Deviled Eggs with Caviar (4) and Fresh Shucked Oysters. (6). The appetizers were fantastic, so subtly flavored and prepared! Our main courses were the Dry Aged Pork Ribeye and the Slow-Cooked Duck with Orange. Both dishes were taste sensations. The portions are sizable, so we took away a bit. Dessert was Beignets and Pear Tartin. They were flat-out delicious. The staff soldiered their way through evening we visited without losing their cheerful and professional demeanor. The Eat Good Group will make a hit of Francaise and it will be the toast of the Perry Street District!! read more

I was underwhelmed by their take on French onion soup as it had an almost overwhelming onion flavor. Maybe a switch to a Walla Walla onion would help, as the answer from the kitchen was yellow? when I asked what kind of onion they used. In spite of the omission of lamb, the cassoulet was excellent, with duck in place of the traditional goose. I really enjoyed the consistency, which was thick enough to have been second or third day. The interior was a little dark, and they could add some brighter lights. However, what ruined the experience was that we were not told until the check came that there is a 3% surcharge for credit card payment. I looked and did not see it on the website, the menu, nor was it posted anywhere. If this is going to be the policy, then you make it clear from the outset, so at least your patrons are prepared. read more

French bread was not representative of a french bread flavor. Tasteless white bread. No crunchy crust or smell of yeast. The deviled eggs were equally bland. Three individuals han french fries and they complained that they arrived cold and soggy. They were replaced with hot fries. My pork chop was okay and cooked as desired. A friend with steak said it was cold and tough. None of us could recommend Francaise. However, I might try it in a few months to see if it has improved.
