Located steps away from our Airbnb on Main Street. We popped in here to get some evening hot chocolates. They offer other items on the menu if coffee isn't your thing, as well as some bites. I went for a hot chocolate with oat milk and it was under $3, affordable compared to other places. It was super sweet as they just used Ghirardelli syrup. But still a nice treat to end our day in Hudson Valley. There's outdoor seating, but don't forget your mask! read more

If you're in town or have a pitstop from Metro North this is a 10 min walk and closest area to grab a refreshment, have a bathroom break, charge up your phone. The place itself is super quirky. Stopped by here for a quick cup of coffee. I came with a group of friends, two of us ordered matcha lattes unsweetened and my other friend ordered a chai latte. I thoroughly enjoyed my unsweetened iced matcha latte. I really do not like when places over sweeten it, but Bank Square Coffehouse got it just right. I would stop by here for another cup of coffee when I'm back in town. TIP: there is a ten dollar credit card minimum, so either combine orders with your friends or bring cash. There is an ATM in the coffeehouse but they charged you a one dollar transaction fee. read more

I am obsessed with this place. I've been coming here for years. It's consistently amazing. Sometimes I will even crave it in the evening and will have to drive a whole 5 minutes to have it!! Saturday evening, wanted a chill space to rest after hopping around the shops on Main street. Surprisingly, not only was this coffee shop open later in the evening, but there weren't too many people inside. After grabbing a couch around the back (wonderful seating areas), quickly ordered a Latte ($3ish) and a Sangria ($7). Again, seating is quite comfortable and allows for groups big and small. Sangria wasn't too strong, but easy to sip and not overwhelmingly sweet. Coffee is strong and was able to keep me awake on my drive back home. Liked the coffee enough to bring some beans back home (they grind them for you) and am impressed by the flavor. Would definitely come back on my next visit. read more

Omg the danishes. The coffee is great too but the danishes here are out of this world. If you have ever thought to yourself I am not a Danish consuming pastry person: so yourself a favor and get a Danish here. I was in town for a show and after a long morning of traveling, needed some caffeine so I found this place walking into downtown from the train station. It's your stereotypical hipster coffee shop that captures the art-centric aesthetic of Beacon. It's a good place if you need an hour or two to kill. I throughly enjoyed sitting out on their outdoor patio. What stood out the most to me about this coffee shop was the fact they brew traditional Vietnamese coffee with the metal filter and all! Major props for doing something besides the traditional latte/americano. I also decided to try one of their vegan peanut butter quinoa brownies, was very delectable. read more

I really enjoyed my latte from Bank Square! The employees are friendly and prices are reasonable. I'm not from the Hudson Valley, so I appreciate that they post community flyers showing what little markets/vintage sales are going down in the area. The only thing that drives me crazy is the inability to tip employees with credit card. Because of the pandemic I haven't been carrying cash on hand, therefore unable to tip the barista which makes me feel super uncomfortable! Wish there was a way to incorporate tipping on card transaction. read more

Revisited recently when back in the area as COVID-19 guidelines have changed. They're doing an awesome job with the social distancing protocol inside for ordering given the ever changing circumstances. Amazing espresso drinks as always! Owner reached out post review, and answered a number of questions. Seems like they are genuinely interested in feedback, and looking for ways to improve. For me, that makes this a great place. On the bean selection, it was clarified that the Hawaiian beans in Yelp picture was just a coincidence, usual they have other single origin beans. Understandably to keep costs low they typically only carry one premium (which is totally reasonable). Siphon is hard to operate and maintain, and it's difficult to afford someone with those special skill. I will give this place another try based of the overly considerate owner. Update to review- Just came back and went out of my way to try them again. They didn't have ANY single origins and the pour over offering was an ESPRESSO ROAST!!! How does anyone own a coffee shop and have such little respect for proper coffee brewing. Not to wish the owner bad fortune, but what's worse is the place was packed. So you have swarms of people continuing to drink crappy coffee..... Come on guys get with it and show some respect back to the art of coffee. read more

The line was through the door at 4PM. The line was slow going, and I saw they took orders via GrubHub, so I placed an order via GrubHub so I wouldn't have to wait in line. The total was almost $15 for two small drinks. A few minutes later my order was cancelled without explanation, so I can't say how the coffee actually tasted. In the absence of popular spots like Starbucks in the immediate area when you visit Bank Square you quickly forget that Starbucks even exists. This place is huge with several cozy couches, chairs, etc. and even has outdoor seating if the weather is good. This is a very popular spot with locals and rightfully so. I stopped in to meet a blind date and we were able to chat undisturbed. I hike in the area often and would most certainly stop by again because this place is a little gem to the Beacon, Main Street area. I'm not even entirely sure if the place was still cash business only because I took cash after reading other Yelp reviews and didn't concern myself with the idea of cash because the place isn't expensive at all so $10 took me a long way. Not even Starbucks can get you much for just $10 but Bank Square will give you the best bang for your buck and a cozy atmosphere. read more

Lovely patio to drink some coffee and take in the surroundings! The barista was very nice and accommodating, make sure you bring cash because it's a $10 minimum charge for a credit/debit card. Went back in to give it another try, what a mistake!!! This place first is filthy, fruit flies everywhere. The staff is rude and sold me a bag of coffee beans that have nuts in them, I explained before I have a nut allergy, the guy told me no problem these are fine rudely. After leaving and reading the bag closely they indeed contained nuts. To make matters worse they wouldn't refund my purchase only a credit which I don't want! This coffee house seems to always be poppin Came on a Saturday afternoon and there were a few seats left inside bc legit, there was a line for coffee about 20 people deep. They were out of the two cold brews i wanted so I had the generic iced coffee of the day and it was still hella good. Love that they offer such a friggin assortment of coffees, beers, pastry type stuff. Which it kinda helps that there is always a line bc it allows you ample time to peruse the menu. Let's take a trip back in time to the late 1990's when Dave Matthews Band and Blues Traveler was on the radio and everybody was crunchy and people were doing the coffee house / brew pub thing. Bank Square Coffeehouse is your place to relive those organic days. I often find myself in Beacon, NY on long bike rides that end in Beacon, so we can take the train back to the city. Since we often have to wait awhile for the train and after 80 miles of riding, I am ready to eat my bicycle, loading up on calories is key. Bank Square is a cute little coffee shop that reminds you more of a second-hand Victorian living room than a generic Starbucks - it is very warm and cozy, lots of comfy couches and chairs to sip your coffee and surf the net and stuff. In the warmer months, they have a great patio to sit outside and enjoy the weather. They serve all kinds of coffee and tea, but they also serve beer by the pitcher as well. Every time I go there are plenty of peeps getting a pitcher and sitting outside, chugging micro brew beer. I eschew the beer, but I do partake in their baked goods. I often get cookies and muffins, etc. to refill the tank. The pastries are all quite good. My only beef is that the service is really slow, a little too "Crash Into Me / Run Around", chill. However, maybe that is me, maybe I need to "Satellite" chill out myself. read more

I really hate to bring down the reviews, but I yam what I yam. First impressions are truly everything and I just couldn't shake mine out for a better rating. It looked like someone's garage/kitchen from first glance. It took me a while to even open the door (I even went to the door next door, because I thought I had the wrong door). Through another opening (hard to call it a doorway) on the inside you get into a "living room" looking place. I think the designer, if they even consulted with one, was literally going for the garage sale atmosphere. I don't think I've seen two chairs that were alike, or that were from the same decade. The wall decorations ranged from coffee bean bags to actual holes in the wall (I am guessing there used to be a TV set mounted there before which would explain the holes). Sometimes this makes sense. In this place, all this randomness was just that, randomness. The fancy coffees were decently priced, the latte was good, just as good as any other latte. Somehow I thought they would have a much bigger or at least better baked goods selection. I get all the healthy buzz, but healthy there just didn't look appetizing at all. I was hungry, so I made my way to the refrigerator section (that was the only sign of food besides that not so good looking cookie counter). My options were very limited and so I finally opted for a vietnamese roll. The roll ended up tasting for the most part like grass. I was literally chewing green grass, and the vermichelli tasted more like dried grass, with an odd sprinkle of a carrot peel and a spicy concoction. I also opted for a last minute purchase of a fancy looking, but small shop made chocolate bar that cost $8. Ironically, the chocolate bar was made in Brooklyn, NY (exactly where I came from to be in Beacon for the day). read more

Heads up - cash only. There is an ATM in the cafe, but who wants to pay those pesky ATM fees? This place has the BEST chai latte that I have ever had anywhere. And I've had A LOT of chai tea lattes. If you order a hot tea, they actually take the loose leaf tea and put it in a little tea bag for you to steep. Amazing. The double chocolate cookie was also good, but not mind-blowing. The interior is cute and eclectic. The couch we were sitting at would definitely correct any posture problems you might have. Also, be wary of the bathroom door. It didn't lock and there wasn't an additional latch. So just say a little prayer that whoever is on the opposite side knocks first! read more

This place is cool ! We stopped in on a late (and cold) Sunday afternoon. Though the streets of Beacon were quiet, this coffee house was full with almost every seat taken. The layout is two rooms, with an eclectic mix of furniture which was comfortable and of course there is free wi-fi. I enjoyed an expresso with white chocolate and caramel that smelled and tasted delicious, The staff was friendly and service was fine. I love this place and I always give it another shot but after being a barista myself, I just cant deal with the attitude anymore. Bank Square is a high quality coffee house. The coffee is delicious and I particularly love their chai tea. They also have a humble selection of beer and wine. Today I had a wine smoothie (strawberry) which was a novel delight that I enjoyed very much. The coffee house is spacious with plenty of comfy places to sit and be productive. They also have a guitar available for use and an arcade game for when you need a break (or when you want to get your 90s on). The staff is always friendly and willing to make recommendations. In general, this is a wonderful coffee house and it is located in the up and coming town of Beacon. Get some coffee and enjoy what the area has to offer!! read more
