What a fine time we had at Bank + Vine! It's located within... an old bank; complete with gold cash registers and a vault. Beautifully decorated. Marshall was our kind and efficient server. We never felt rushed. We were given the opportunity to enjoy our wine flights one serving after the other. Our meal servings came out the same way, allowing us to take in the goodness. I highly recommend the Seared Salmon, Corn Velouté! Flavorful, juiciness topped with a lovely crust! The GM Brian checked in with all the guests to inquire about their dining experience. We raved. I think you will too!

The deviled eggs were a tasty treat brought to us on the house. The chicken was the star of the meal here while the waffle could've been thicker, fluffier. This fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had. Juicy, crunchy exterior, herbaceous but also sweet from the syrup. I could've eaten the chicken by the bucket! Service was great and waitstaff was super friendly. Overall a great find in WB PA!

Bank + Vine has been on my list since before the pandemic. I had an opportunity to visit a couple of nights ago and it did not disappoint. We had the burrata, the filet mignon, and the carrots. We also sampled (well, if I'm being honest, we devoured) a number of their desserts. The service was superb and everyone was super friendly. When the evening light comes through the windows, it gives the place a warm feeling. Would definitely repeat.

Our waitress was nice and cute. I really like the dining room an actual bank converted to a restaurant and you can see a lot of the old decor. Food was good. Cacio e Pepe was too salty and too garlicky! Everything else was fine.

Charming restaurant in an old renovated bank with tasty food. I came here with a bachelorette party and we had a cozy, private seating area in the "loft." Servers were very friendly and attentive. The food had an Italian flare and was flavorful; portion sizes were good. The table bread was unique and really tasty! I did not get any alcoholic drinks, but others in my party did and they enjoyed their chosen cocktails. The prices were reasonable for a more upscale / elevated dinner experience. The overall downtown Wilkes-Barre area seems to be in transition, but there were other bars / restaurants / shops in the area.

Whole branzino. Cooked perfectly. No bones... a feast!

A MOST wonderful anniversary dinner choice! We live in Lancaster but we're visiting family over our anniversary week so decided to try one of the nicer restaurants in Wilkes-Barre. So glad we did! They treated us like royalty! They seated us in the bank vault which was a fun unexpected treat so we had our own little private dining room. The service was very attentive. And all the dishes we tried were excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed the yellow fin tuna carpaccio, some kohlrabi carpaccio that was a house treat, the octopus, goat cheese ravioli and then shared the whole branzino. Everything was perfectly prepared. We had the street corn and the potatoes as added sides with the fish. We could have probably had one less dish but we managed to eat nearly all of it! I thought the street corn was a little too smothered in cheese crumbles but that was more personal preference than any failing on the restaurant's part. Oh and the bread was divine! We finished off this epic meal with the chocolate bombadino (OMG awesome!) and some tasty lemon sorbet. We highly recommend this place! Lovely interior.... A great spot.

What's left of our small plate. Caramelized Onion Tart, Goat Cheese, and Chives.

This is actually more like 3-1/2 stars but I'd rather round up than down. The restaurant itself is bank themed with pictures relating to money, banks and criminals from the early twentieth century hanging on the wall. It truly is a cool looking restaurant. Everyone from the manager to the busboy were extremely friendly as was the waiter. Unfortunately it took much longer than expected to get our drinks and when we wanted to order another round, I actually had to ask the busboy and he relayed our request to to waiter. The focaccia bread and butter was good and the Caramelized Onion Tart, Goat Cheese, Chive was good but I would have liked a little more goat cheese. The King Salmon, Melted Leeks, and Trout Roe Gremolata was pretty good and the salmon was perfectly cooked but the trout roe has such a mild flavor it didn't do much for the salmon. It was good but I wished I had ordered the Crispy Skin Striped Bass, Braised Artichokes, and Capers. My wife's NY Strip Steak, Slow Cooked Fennel, Orange, and Cilantro ( she asked for it without the cilantro) was actually very good but a little thin in my opinion. Overall, it's not our type of restaurant. It has a pretentious atmosphere. The staff definitely isn't pretentious just most of the people dining at this restaurant. The meals were pretty good overall for a fine dining restaurant but nothing that would bring us back again.

Food portions are so small, you'll leave still hungry. Too expensive for the portions received. Went with friends twice but we're done now.

From start to finish, the food was outstanding. We began with the Stracciatella soup and mussels, which were both absolutely out of this world, followed by a salad that was just as impressive. For our entrées, we enjoyed the shrimp tacos, which were incredibly fresh and delicious, and the aged steak, which was cooked to perfection and truly top-notch. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't resist dessert. We shared the limoncello cake with cappuccino, and, like everything else we had, it was exceptional. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the service was impeccable, and the owner couldn't have been more gracious. He's clearly passionate about making this restaurant a success, and it shows in every aspect of the dining experience. As a thoughtful surprise, our dessert and cappuccinos were complimentary. It certainly wasn't expected, but it was a very kind and professional gesture that we genuinely appreciated. If you're anywhere in the Wilkes-Barre area--or even if you're farther away--Diamond City Vault is absolutely worth the trip. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

We started with the tortilla chips covered in blue cheese sauce with bacon and scallions. Delicious-I've had it before elsewhere on house-made potato chips, but the seasoning on these chips was a nice addition. My husband had the Cuban sandwich on a buttered baguette, which he really enjoyed. I ordered the smashburger with extra cheese, which arrived with no cheese. Bree said she'd have the kitchen correct their mistake, and instead of just slapping on the cheese, they made me a whole new sandwich which, to my cheese-loving delight, literally came dripping with cheese! Both of our plates had a generous portion of perfectly done fries. The drinks were good pours, too, however I had missed the wall(behind our seats)that showed quite a few special martinis. I will give them a try next time as we are coming to town for another show at the Kirby next month. Kevin, who I figured to be the manager, came by to check on us, but said he was not the manager, just an employee making sure things were good. We appreciated that as nowadays once the food is served, you might not see your server again until it's time to pay. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.

I'm usually a combo order kind of guy, but I had to throw together my own little lunch variety pack, add Santa Fe (breakfast) burrito. Plantains always hit for me, but these were extra caramelized and gooey so I had to portion them out between the beginning and end of the meal. The mole sauce on the chili relleno was smokey and not as spicy, but really well-balanced. The tamale with red sauce seemed less flavorful than the other dishes, but I'm no tamale expert and I've been hanging out with a lot of Italians recently. The Santa Fe burrito was out of this world: the eggs, nice and crumbly with tons of seasoning and flavor, the cheese-covered chorizo oozing into each bite. I need this again, and I'm sure there's so many other incredible things on the menu to explore, but this is truly a hearty and unique item worth coming back for.

But…read moresince we like trying new places too, we had to come back for the first time in over a year. It's not just the variety of tapas options, or the incredible wine selection, or the impeccable hospitality that will keep you coming back; it's the culinary journey rarely taken where the food transports you and you just sit back speechless thinking, "that was IT, where has this been?" You'll leave completely stuffed, and they'll be drinks... lots of drinks; but the concoctions are adventurous and more than worth trying a few of, and that's before you get to the wine list. They know their stuff; they travel the world to find inspiration for their own curated menu, but bring lesser-known varietals to the forefront that really challenge your palate and leave you needing to speak directly to the associate at the wine and spirits store, in the best way possible. If you have an unoaked chardonnay available, I immediately like you! You don't have to wait long once you order for those tasty shareable plates to come firing out; they're quick, efficient but also know how to help you pace your meal. Funny thing about this meal (that we shared with another couple we go touring with) is that it turned into a Catholic-guided, Lent-abiding seafood extravaganza, which was not necessarily our goal on approach. I love when a place really surprises you with things you wouldn't typically think to pair together or even order, and they become some of your favorite things altogether. Case in point, the escargot; most escargot I've ever had was rubbery, soaked in butter and masked with garlic. None of that was going on here, and they even did the work for you with the shells. Anything fried (empanadas, yuca fries, oysters, seabass tacos) had a very even, full but thin breading. Not a trace of residual oil, nothing heavy about it and still the right temp inside to not blast the filling. I really enjoyed the oysters, and the pickled radish and shallot would be good as an accompaniment for ANYTHING. The chimichurri is spot on, and anytime it appears on the menu, which it does several times, you should get those items. The butter sauce with a camarones was drinkable, the empanadas never disappoint, and the almond tart with wine-poached pears for dessert was literal perfection. Overall, our favorite drink was the Holy Smokes and they have a team-oriented approach to presenting dishes table side. Fun and friendly, the staff is knowledgeable, patient and has great personal recommendations, all with legit culinary knowledge. Go...like, now!

¡Vamos a tapear!…read more This is my first time in Wilkes-Barre and after almost a week of eating pizza, and other assorted quick bites across the town, I was in the mood for something more. I'm from Las Vegas, and I can only eat so much pizza! MVD was recommended to me by someone who hasn't even dined here yet if that tells you how much people talk about this place. It's about 12 mins or so from where I am staying near the arena/Kings College area and is easy to access with its own parking lot. When I walked up, I was very impressed. It is so cute and welcoming! There's a bar at the front when you walk in and you're immediately greeted by smiling faces. The face that greeted me belonged to Brian. (I hope it's with an I and not a Y...sorry if not!) He immediately sat me for my solo reservation and made sure I understood the concept and menu and gave me some time to look it over. They are only open from 5-9 and I arrived at 7:15pm. Nearly everything is made fresh in house (even the ravioli are hand stuffed...wow) and Brian couldn't give the chef enough props for what she does there every day. I ordered the chicken empanada, camarones (shrimp), and mini hamburguesas as well as a caipirinha (alcoholic drink). Tapas are small plates, almost like appetizers, and although the servings are not large, the flavors are so rich it feels like they are! Everything made me do a "happy dance" and I even saved the sauce from my shrimp to dip my burger in. It didn't need it at all, but I couldn't let the sauce go! The empanada...jeez. I wish I remembered to take a photo before I dove in. And the mini burgers...Immaculate. The ambiance is so welcoming. I ended up speaking to every diner around me and even got to talk to another foodie couple who traveled there from some towns over after discovering MVD on a prior visit. They told me something I already knew as well: I'll be back to try the things I missed because YOU CANT GO WRONG! Sal, Brian, and there was a woman at the front as well were all great. And they have a promotion where you send a postcard to anyone you want after your meal. So cute!! I will def visit MVD EVERY time I come to Wilkes-Barre and support them bringing new flavors to the town. I can't rave enough!
