We were there with a large party for a celebration which we reserved a table for and spoke with staff prior to the event. The gratuity was included in the bill, so the server had no incentive to check on us or replenish drinks. Steaks were served without knives. No one checked on our meals. We had to ask for dishes that were never brought out. One guest never got their dessert. We had to flag the server down many times. No one took any leftover food home because it was so awful! We doubled checked our bill the next day and saw a charge for 13 espresso martinis that we didn't order. It was a large party and this went unnoticed at the time of payment. We tried the Girl Dinner menu and had a mixed experience. The first round of espresso martinis tasted like fountain soda, but we asked for them to be remade and they came back perfect. The vodka martini was just watered-down olive juice, and the gin dirty martini was fine. Breadsticks were dry--some butter or dipping oil would've helped. Mains were well presented and portioned perfectly. Caesar salad had good flavor but oily croutons. Fries were a standout--crispy, well-seasoned, and not overly truffled. What a fine time we had at Bank + Vine! It's located within... an old bank; complete with gold cash registers and a vault. Beautifully decorated. Marshall was our kind and efficient server. We never felt rushed. We were given the opportunity to enjoy our wine flights one serving after the other. Our meal servings came out the same way, allowing us to take in the goodness. My husband and I went to Bank + Vine for our wedding anniversary, and the staff made us feel SO special. We were seated in the vault room and it was so cool in there! This place you can go in casual or dress up, the food is very good they do have a children menu, server's , waiter's are very knowledgeable so you'll have a great experience there. We went here based on other reviews and recommendations. Not sure we were at the same establishment. We are foodies and have eaten at some of the best Italian restaurants in the US as well as in Italy. We are also excellent in the kitchen. We ordered several appetizers, salads and an entries. All were well below par. The appetizers were all over cooked. One was grilled octopus. It had one burnt piece the size of a small shrimp. Set it back. Second no better! Pitiful. Salads were small using yesterday's greens. Sad.... The broiled salmon came in a soup bowl over some sort of cubed oily potatoes. The salmon was small, dry and over cooked. A child's portion! The worst dish was the seafood Fra Diavolo. It had three small overcooked shrimp, two overcooked clams, several very thin slices of calamari covered with a thick gooey tasteless tomato something they call sauce. This mess on top of flat pasta. After two bites, it was discarded. Disgusting. Apparently, the owner chef with all the awards was not there that night. The line cooks failed miserably. Lousy Olive Garden would have been better. Time and time again we are disappointed by local restaurants that receive national awards. Yes the owner chefs are very good, but over time they live on their reputation and quality continues to decline. Based on what we were served for the prices they charge, they clearly have huge profit margins. We passed on deserts and coffees assuming those would be equally awful..... There were too many failures across all the courses to believe anything would be any better. And the lamb chops were over cooked!! Even the wine list is marginal. The interior is very nice. The deviled eggs were a tasty treat brought to us on the house. The chicken was the star of the meal here while the waffle could've been thicker, fluffier. This fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had. Juicy, crunchy exterior, herbaceous but also sweet from the syrup. I could've eaten the chicken by the bucket! I drove down from Syracuse to attend a birthday dinner. Wow, BnV seems out of place in Wilkes-Barre, but what an amazing dinner we had. The host and hostess checked our coats,and we walked straight back to our table. The interior is spectacular. The front windows are lined with red bricks throughout whike the bar separates the front dining area from the back dining area. The hardwood floors glisten and the bathrooms gotta be the cleanest around. The wait staff are highly attentive and skilled while the restaurant manager pays closw attentiin to detail and follows up with all the patrons and his staff. Realizing a birthday dinner for two was being celebrated, he brought us a lobster appetizer followed by our deliciius meal consisting of northeast oysters, and pasta/short ribs main course. Charming restaurant in an old renovated bank with tasty food. I came here with a bachelorette party and we had a cozy, private seating area in the "loft." Servers were very friendly and attentive. The food had an Italian flare and was flavorful; portion sizes were good. The table bread was unique and really tasty! I did not get any alcoholic drinks, but others in my party did and they enjoyed their chosen cocktails. The prices were reasonable for a more upscale / elevated dinner experience. A MOST wonderful anniversary dinner choice! We live in Lancaster but we're visiting family over our anniversary week so decided to try one of the nicer restaurants in Wilkes-Barre. So glad we did! They treated us like royalty! They seated us in the bank vault which was a fun unexpected treat so we had our own little private dining room. The service was very attentive. And all the dishes we tried were excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed the yellow fin tuna carpaccio, some kohlrabi carpaccio that was a house treat, the octopus, goat cheese ravioli and then shared the whole branzino. Everything was perfectly prepared. We had the street corn and the potatoes as added sides with the fish. We could have probably had one less dish but we managed to eat nearly all of it! I thought the street corn was a little too smothered in cheese crumbles but that was more personal preference than any failing on the restaurant's part. Oh and the bread was divine! We finished off this epic meal with the chocolate bombadino (OMG awesome!) and some tasty lemon sorbet. We highly recommend this place! Lovely interior.... A great spot. read more

This was a great restaurant to celebrate my grandma's birthday. All of the food we had ranged from good to great. The handmade bucatini pasta with the pork ragu was especially good. The lamb didn't have much of a pomegranate molasses sauce but that wasn't a bad thing as that made the entrees all fairly light. We also liked the cod with bok choy a lot. Drinks were good and fairly reasonable. Mains are expensive but you get what you pay for: the vibe is very classy. Desserts tasted good too. Service was very good. One of us lost our fork at one point and it was replaced within seconds. Our waitress was missing for a little bit but she brought the check with her when she returned in case we were in a rush which was appreciated. read more

This is actually more like 3-1/2 stars but I'd rather round up than down. The restaurant itself is bank themed with pictures relating to money, banks and criminals from the early twentieth century hanging on the wall. It truly is a cool looking restaurant. Everyone from the manager to the busboy were extremely friendly as was the waiter. Unfortunately it took much longer than expected to get our drinks and when we wanted to order another round, I actually had to ask the busboy and he relayed our request to to waiter. The focaccia bread and butter was good and the Caramelized Onion Tart, Goat Cheese, Chive was good but I would have liked a little more goat cheese. The King Salmon, Melted Leeks, and Trout Roe Gremolata was pretty good and the salmon was perfectly cooked but the trout roe has such a mild flavor it didn't do much for the salmon. It was good but I wished I had ordered the Crispy Skin Striped Bass, Braised Artichokes, and Capers. My wife's NY Strip Steak, Slow Cooked Fennel, Orange, and Cilantro ( she asked for it without the cilantro) was actually very good but a little thin in my opinion. Overall, it's not our type of restaurant. It has a pretentious atmosphere. The staff definitely isn't pretentious just most of the people dining at this restaurant. This is a new farm to table restaurant that took over the old Manhattan bistro. Our group of 6 picked going here after seeing their photos on their Instagram page. First thing you should know is the presentation - every dish that came out was beautifully prepared. Because we were a large group we got to sample a lot of items on the menu, including a new dish they released this week - squid ink tagliatelle. We also got turnip carpaccio complimentary of the chef. Our favorites included the carrots, the lamb and the duck confit. The lamb was so juicy and soft...literally melts in your mouth. We walked away really impressed. This is a pretty special spot and worth a visit if you're in the area (honestly would make a trip from Philly just to have the turnip carpaccio again). read more

I've been at this corner restaurant when it used to be Le Manhattan. I've been to this reincarnation Bank and Vine multiple times. So why the three star? Lack of consistency to be honest. The food is excellent but can be mediocre depending on what night you are dining. Tonight was one of those mediocre nights. The bar staff was undergoing "training" which is what I was told. My cocktails were sadly horrendous. For example, I ordered a drink called the Last Word, which was made superbly three months ago. Today the first one I ordered was not even the correct drink. It looked like a lemon drop. The next one was only slightly better and at least green looking (chartreuse). Both drinks had way too much citrus and were poorly balanced. A very terrible showing compared to the SAME drink in the SAME bar several months ago. And the recipe is wrong as well on the menu. There is no Cointreau in that drink. It's supposed to be Luxardo. And they made it with beefeater gin, not the blue coat as advertised. Next, the food: Oysters: these were good and the salsa verde was good but the entire point of oysters is not to mask them with a strong flavored accompaniment so that you can let taste the briny goodness of the oyster. Tuna: taste was off compared to the last time I was here. The fish itself had an odd aftertaste. The citrus sauce was heavy handed and overpowering. Lamb: it didn't have a glaze of pomegranate molasses which we saw the last time. Lamb shoulder is naturally fatty and gamy. The molasses is a nice counterpoint to the fat and sadly it was missing or if present, there was very little of it. They did present the dish with some pomegranate arils. It was very salty as well, and this coming from a person that likes salt. Dessert: the peanut butter and jelly. This was actually quite delicious very creatively presented as well. All in all, I'd say Bank and Vine is worth coming to and for the most part the execution of the food is normally good, except today. Not sure what is going on in the kitchen but maybe they had an off day. The cocktails are what this place is known for but again, today was not great. If I come back it will probably be on a slower weeknight. read more

The only time it shouldn't be on the menu is if they have trouble sourcing ingredients for it. Based on reviews, it seems like it matters who is cooking when you go. We had a 7pm reservation and after a minute or two of confusion finding our reservation, we were seated and order some drink and some oysters. The drinks were good and the oysters were perfectly fine, but then we had to wait until 8:30 for our entree to arrive. We ordered one of the specials, it was surf and turf for two. 90 minutes from order to food is insane. On top of everything the ribeye was medium well at best instead of the medium rare requested. The service was great and friendly and very apologetic. We were given a complimentary side salad that we didn't have much use for since it was offered after the entree finally arrived. We were also offered complimentary dessert, but after waiting 90 minutes for food and ordering the surf and turf for two, there was no room or patience for dessert. Again, staff was friendly and great, but the kitchen really let this place down. We were visiting family from out of town and will not be back when we make our return visits. read more

We didn't have a problem getting seated on a Saturday morning without reservations which was nice. Parking is street parking with meters which was a little difficult but we made it work! The food and drink were very good. Our server was very attentive, as was the rest of the staff who either refilled drinks, cleared plates, or delivered food. The cost is on the pricier side. The coffee and related beverages are provided from the nearby Abide Coffeehouse, which is itself a nice venue. The crispy/cheesy potatoes are very popular as a side dish. I found them rather underwhelming but maybe I'm a potato purist. As for entrees, the eggs benedict was good and they were able to substitute turkey bacon for ham. Very good presentation and table service which you would expect at this price point that I think is 20% higher than it probably should be. Of om going tDuck Confito pay $46 for a strip steak, I would prefer the guy sitting at the table next to me isn't wearing an old baseball cap backwards and grass stained flip flops. That being said. The exec chef, Chad,seems capable of cranking out good dishes at a brisk pace. I will note Chad was on season 15 of hells kitchen and finished 9th. I wish the same could be said for the bar. Drink times are painfully slow. 10 to 15 min for a mixed drink. When I inquired about the delay I was told " the drinks are complicated to create and there's only 1 bartender" . Solutions?
