Heard something about this place, figured we would try it. Got here at supper time on Saturday, not a good time for waiting. Pleasantly surprised when we were seated right away on the beautiful covered deck. Never did get the name of the young man who is one of the best servers I ever had, super attentive and pleasant. As we were ordering, a hard rain storm hit us, open and outside but absolutely no problems. My wife and I both ordered the pick-n-peel shrimp (promise of Old Bay) me 1 lb, her, 1/2 lb,, she a salad, me fries. Not a long wait and it came. Everything was delicious, ample amount of seasoning, except...could have been a little more Old Bay! (Sorry, grew up on the Eastern Shore). The food and prices are good. Service is slow and not attentive to customers. For example, our table went without a server checking on us for a little over 30 minutes, with empty drinks. Food was not served all at one time, leaving a party member to look at others eating for approx 10 minutes, and items were missing on 3 out of the 6 plates ordered. read more

We've tried to like this place... given them multiple chances. We are so tired of paying for really poor quality food. We ordered a large pie, thin crust, well down. We received the exact opposite to the point where the crust was thick and mushy as well as undercooked and the cheese was not melted in certain areas of the pie. We will not be back. read more

My husband and I were hiking in the area at Ricketts Glen Falls Loop and needed a place to eat. We found this place up in a residential area. It looked comfortable from the outside so we went in. Our server was just a sweetheart from the moment we came in. She was engaging and upfront about the menu options, drink selections and specials. She was chatting us up about our hike to and said it is definitely one of the best in the area. I ordered the French onion soup to start because that is my favorite amongst soups and let me tell you: this was top notch! The cheese was gooey and incredible, the soup was not overly salty, just full of flavor. My husband had the chili con carne and he destroyed it. For our main dishes, I had the flounder with lump crabmeat, rice, and steamed veggies. Sooo amazing. The flounder was properly seasoned and the crab meat stuffing was just right. The rice was correctly salted, my husband tested it because he knows rice! The veggies were in a garlic butter, enough said! My husband had the chicken Marsala. I can't consume mushrooms, so I asked him how his was and he was beyond satisfied. Bonus points on our server: I had told her we were celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary and she brought to our table a delightful chocolate cake slice on the house! On a recent trip home to visit my parents, they had a gift card to the Overbrook that we decided to use for dinner. We arrived around 5:15pm on a Saturday and snagged the last table in the bar area, thus dodging a 20 min wait for the dining room. Our beverage order was taken immediately, but there was a longer than average wait to place our food order and to actually receive our food. Our waitress was nice, but clearly seemed stressed. As for the food, the highlight of the meal for me were the wings with mild sauce. The sauce is generously applied and has a sweetness to it that elevates it above typical wing sauce. The wings were well cooked and perfectly crispy. My mom and I split a vegetable stromboli that was just okay. The corner pieces were pretty doughy, and the filling was pretty basic mixed vegetables and cheese without much seasoning. It definitely need the side of marinara sauce. I also tried a bite of the Sicilian pizza, which had good flavor, but the crust was a bit thick for my liking (even for Sicilian) and there was a heavy amount of cheese that was almost too much (but it's cheese, so somehow I made do). That being said, all three of us ate dinner and brought home enough leftovers for lunch for just over $30 plus tip --- very affordable. read more

Beyond the fish always tasting incredibly fresh and crunchy, the fries are otherworldly along with the fritters and slaw. If your a fish and chips junkie, you will not be disappointed. This is a restaurant I'm really torn on. The food is incredible, really for this area the food is over the top incredible. The specials are ridiculous! Soft shell crabs, salmon, Chilean sea bass! Sooooo gooooood The only issue I have with this place is the owner. I don't know his name and I've only ever seen him at the restaurant two times. The entire staff is great. Everyone is friendly and professional. But when the owner comes in, he is visibly drunk both times we saw him. He mumbles and then yells at each employee specifically. From what I understand, a couple of the girls who work there are relatives of his, but that doesn't spare them his wrath. He is a drunken mess right in front of customers. Unfortunately, my husband and I won't be returning after the second display we witnessed. It's a shame too because the food and atmosphere is so great. My husband had been raving about this place for ages, and finally had we had an opportunity to go with our two children. I would first off say, it's not a children friendly place, it's kinda of a pub atmosphere, and as far as I'm aware there wasn't a children's menu, although I saw several kiddos there that evening. The quarters are a little cramped ... or if you prefer "cozy" - it could easily be a good first date location, but arrive early or make a reservation. The parking is limited. I had no qualms about the menu. Everything was delicious and drinks were cold. My kids are picky eaters and hated the "chunky marinara." It looked perfectly fine to me. I had the chicken francaise, my husband the fish and chips. Son had a meatball sub and daughter spaghetti and meatballs. Very generous portions. We took A LOT home. Definitely will visit again, we will just get the kids pizza or burgers because of the pickiness factor. read more

This was our first time here. I wasn't overly impressed when we were seated, the dining room is small and not much in decor. The food, however, was delicious. I can't say much for the kid menu offerings, they were pretty standard, but the adult entrees were so good and the portion sizes were definitely shareable. There's usually one or two familiar faces who are friendly and do their part, but overall,the waitstaff, which is always a rotating stream of faces, has a poor don't bother me attitude. We bring friends and family to overbook and are embarrassed by the quality of the staff, but again the food is always great and (usually) makes up for the forgetful and rude staff. Several times they are not open when the sign says they are so call ahead. ...And I have been chased out of the bar 2 times during the week when it's too close to closing time..... The one word I would use to sum up the Overbrook is inconsistency. Went to the Overbrook with my parents and brother who was visiting from Pittsburgh for a family dinner. This was my first trip here and I would not go out of my way to visit again, but if I was in the area I would likely return. The restaurant is small and smelled strongly of malt vinegar which turned me off right away. I noticed they have bottles of it on each table so perhaps someone spilled a bottle and it was not properly clean. Still not sure why a restaurant would install carpeting but I digress. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip. It was disappointing and tasted like creamed spinach with some artichoke thrown in, topped with pizza cheese and put under a broiler. Lacked seasoning and very few artichoke pieces. For our main courses, my mother and I both ordered the crab cake sandwich, my father the pork barbecue (more like pulled pork) and my brother a small buffalo chicken Stromboli. The crab cake sandwiches were outstanding! Mostly lump crab meat, very little filler and the roll was fresh. Fries were disappointing however, as they're frozen and not fresh cut. The pork barbecue was very good as well. It was shredded pork tossed with a Carolina style vinegar based barbecue sauce instead of the overly sweet sauces normally found in the area. The Stromboli was simply awful. Could not tell if it was steak or chicken in the filling as it was extremely greasy and lots of dark meat. There was barely any Buffalo sauce in it and a very thin layer of cheese at the bottom. It was like eating chicken cooked in oil. Little to no flavor and minimal buffalo chicken taste. Recommend the crab cake sandwich or the crab cake dinner. read more

We were driving home and decided to stop here on our way past. The waitress was great, very attentive. The fried green tomatoes were awesome!! The short ribs were done perfectly and my cobia fish was good but lacking some flavor. They had it with a tomato type sauce with lobster but it didn't really add to the fish (and at $32 I was a bit taken back) so that's the only reason I'm saying 4 stars. We have lived in Tunkhannock for going on 6 years and have been fed up with the lack of places to eat. So I went hunting at restaurants outside of the area and came across Overbrook Pub. I know we have driven past this place before so it was a bit familiar to us but we didn't know what kind of environment it was or the food they had. We scoped out their online menu and found some things we wanted to try. I called up to make sure they did take out orders bc their site wasn't specific if they did or not. The girl who answered was super bubbly and told me they did do take out and asked me for my order. I was a bit bummed to find out their in house menu had changed from the menu that was online and one of the items I wanted to try they no longer served. But she was quick to offer something almost like it that they did serve and we went with that. I was a bit sticker shocked when I got the total since their site doesn't have prices listed but we were expecting it to be on the high side since we got many sea food entrees. She told us how long it would take which wasn't an issue bc it takes us 20 minutes to get into town anyway. When we got there we saw what people meant about the lack of parking, but we didn't have any issues finding a spot. They have 2 entrances to get in, one is handicap accessible and the other takes you right into their bar area. Since we were closest to the handicap entrance I just went in that way. As soon as I walked in I was hit with the amazing smells of all the foods they offer. I was also able to see why the parking lot was as small as it is, they have a small dining and bar area and that's it. Their parking is enough for those who are eating inside and that's about it. The wait staff was super friendly while I was making my way to get our order. I chatted with the girl at the bar while another one was getting my order from the back and she was complaining how no one has updated the site menu and it can be a bit annoying when people call in to place an order and they ask for something not on the menu anymore. I told her I felt her pain and laughed about it. She told me she made sure everything was there and nothing was missing since we ordered quite a bit. I grabbed our 3 bags of food and we headed home. The whole way home our car smelled fantastic and just made us even more hungry. To come to our conclusion their food was amazing. Definitely worth the price tag that came with it. We will definitely order from there again and look forward to try some of the other things they offer. Idk why people complained about the waitstaff because everyone I encountered while I was walking in for my order was super nice and helpful. read more
