Our loan consultant didn't give us any b.s. and clarified many points, like available interest rates and required documents, along the journey. He didn't run our credit score twice. He kept us apprised with realistic expectations on closing costs upfront to avoid surprises. What impressed us the most was his fast turnaround time in responding to our bid requests on various properties. We were able to make solid offers within a day. No phone tag games was a super plus! Our realtor recommended Arton Chau to us, and at first we were not interested because we had already been pre-qualified through another lender. Unfortunately, when it came time to perform, the other lender fell short. After trying to get hold of our guy for three hours, we told our realtor to go ahead and call Arton. He called me right away, at a quarter to six in the evening as his wife drove him home from having Lasik eye surgery. He had our pre-approval ready that evening (the other lender took over a week to pre-qualify us and didn't get back to us until after 3pm the Monday following our Friday offer). We didn't get the house, but that's to be expected in this tough market. When it came time to make an offer on another home, we were so impressed with Arton we decided to stick with him and he did not disappoint. Again, he took care of the pre-approval right away, and we were able to close 26 days after our offer was accepted. We also appreciated that he didn't try to talk us out of getting a 15 year mortgage (instead of a 30 year mortgage) and that he didn't run a check on our credit scores until right before securing the loan (the other lender ran two checks each on both my husband's and my credit reports which adversely affected our scores- though thankfully not enough to cost us, but just barely on mine). I considered giving only four stars, but only because when researching lenders on Yelp I thought most of the five star reviews looked phony and suspicious. I thought a four star review might appear more legit. But honestly, we were so impressed with Arton, and I can't recommend him highly enough. **I should probably add (to avoid giving anyone false expectations) that we had full documentation which we faxed to him before we were pre-approved, including paycheck stubs, w-2s going back a few years, tax returns and bank statements. Lilyette was recommend to me by broker. After a deal fell through because the appraisal came in too low we moved on to a second deal. I was buying a forclosure and had to complete the loan within 45 days or pay a steep daily fine (somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 a day). Towards the end of the period Lilyette realized she would not make any money on the deal because the first loan was not closed properly and the bank was penalizing her for this. She then tacked on a $1000 to the deal knowing I could not back out as I would pay more restarting the process else where. She penalized me for her mistake. Use her at your own risk. In the future I will never use her again and would recommend to anyone stay away from her. read more

I haven't done a yelp in a long time, but I was so impressed with Kitty Lee and her team that I had to write something about my experience. This was about the 3rd time that I have tried to refinance and was getting fustrated that it would never happen. The great thing about Kitty is that she always took the time to pencil out the rates and payments for me and she would tell me honestly if I should move forward and now was finally the time. She never made any commission from me and each time treated me with respect and never pushed me to do anything that would not work in my favor. I was referred to Kitty by someone and I never really knew why it would be better to go to a broker then just a big bank. After my 30 + day experience I now know why having a broker on your side is a good idea. Kitty not only got me a great rate, but she also advised me on how to get my credit score higher, and answered my what seemed like a 100 questions that I had. My loan just closed today and I was able to get out of a horrible interest only 10 year loan that was due to end next year. This accolade goes to Jed Thibodeau of Bankers Preferred in Burlingame CA. I was referred to Jed by a friend after I told her the problem I had with a previous mortgage broker. I had gone through a short sale and bankruptcy and needed to wait some time to be able to buy a home again. When the right moment finally came.. after years of waiting patiently, as the rules require, I finally made my move. But it proved to be a costly one. I first went to a broker that was given by the FHA website. I met him several times, gave all the paperwork that he asked for and waited...and waited.. and waited for several months. I finally came to my senses, dumped him and referred to Jed. Jed first looked at my situation and reassured me that a loan can still be had. We crunched the figures and finally came up with a number I can work with. Finally a concrete amount that I can work with so I don't wish on something I can't get or settle for something small when I could have gone bigger. You see, my situation is a bit tricky.. having a short sale, bankruptcy, and a few other things not worthy of Yelp. All the way to the signing at closing, he was there to make sure I did not feel that I was doing this all by myself. To be honest, I did not expect this kind of treatment from a loan officer. You see, I only bought a $250K townhouse. At a time when homes are selling for top dollar, and definitely more than what I paid for, we tend to cast all loan officers in the same mold. We, or rather I, believe that more attention is given to those with more money, more clout. I had neither. The treatment and attention I got from Jed was like I had bought a Million Dollar home. He treated me with so much attention, so much out-of-the-way attention, that I felt like a High Roller. At a time when I felt so dejected and such a failure for having gone through what I went through, it was great to have met Jed. As first time home buyers in Los Angeles, my husband and I spent time shopping around for the best mortgage rates from several lenders.
