We went Friday evening for The Stockton Ports minor league game! It was about 103°, so just be prepared to wait in the sun for a bit while waiting for gates to open! We happen to go on a night that they were having a Ports backpack give away and a drone show! We love attending games here. It is such a different atmosphere compared to a MLB game. People are more relaxed, friendly, it's like enjoying a piece of your childhood! Plenty of places to grab drinks, food, beer and even some little baseball helmets with ice cream! We have been before on fireworks night, however, Friday waa a Drone Show! I did not get any pics of the show, it was awesome and perfectly choreographed! A must see! Great atmosphere! read more

OK SO I am admittedly not a baseball fan but after visiting Banner Island Ballpark to catch a Stockton Ports game, maybe I need to become one! My travel companions are national park people first but baseball aficionados second and they're on a quest to visit as many ballparks as possible. I happily tagged along for this Single-A game, and to my surprise, I absolutely loved it!!! This ballpark is tiny and cute with a cozy feel that makes you feel close to the action no matter where you sit. We even found free street parking just steps away which I would consider a small miracle compared to bigger stadiums. Since we arrived early, one of my friends and I ended up participating in not one but two of the in-between-innings promos and competitions. Did I want to be on the Jumbotron? Not exactly... but when in Stockton, right? I even won a trivia contest and walked away with an adorable little bear which I brought home to give to my friend's son. To top it off, one of my friends got me a baseball for my travel collection and he also gave me the t-shirt he got after winning a blackjack promo, beating the dealer. It was all so fun and silly in the best way. This is definitely a small-town baseball magic that made the whole experience memorable. I think the Ports ended up losing, but oh well! Between the friendly crowd, the quirky promos, and the charm of such a small, intimate ballpark, it was a delightful day. A great minor league park with all the charms of the minor league. Parking was affordable and easy. One person taking cash. One person directed us to our spot. Inside the park was clean. Yes even the restrooms. Concessions were plentiful. Pricing was on par. Food offerings were typical. Beverages were nice and the bar in our area featured cocktails to order with an extra shot for $1. Trust me they get you on the base. lol Between innings entertainment was relatively minor league typical. Good place to take in a game. read more

I used to come to Banner Island Ballpark all the time about 20 years ago when I lived in the area, and it was always such a fun, affordable way to spend an afternoon or evening with friends. I recently went back for the first time in years, and it's still the same great ballpark I remember! The place isn't overcrowded, the seats are great (and still very reasonably priced), and there are plenty of food and drink vendors to choose from. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and I love the little touches that make it feel special ... like the cool sailor hats we got! It's just a solid, classic ballpark experience. Great atmosphere, great people, and such a good time without breaking the bank. I'll definitely be back again soon. read more

This is an excellent park to catch a ballgame. It's right near the river and downtown. The park itself is nice and has various food and merchandise vendors to choose from. The atmosphere is always family friendly with something for everyone and people are always in great spirits. Kind of prefer this atmosphere compared to a major league ballpark tbh. read more

On Sunday, 01.07.2024, my sister and I attended the 2023 Stockton Lights Festival, Magic Forest exhibit at Banner Island Ball Park. The ball park is home of the Stockton Ports, minor league baseball team affiliated with the Oakland A's. The park is conveniently located, has parking in front of the entry as well as an adjacent parking garage. $15 for parking. I ordered tickets on line for the 2023 Stockton Lights Festival, Magic Forest exhibit. This event runs through Sunday, 01.14.2024 with hours starting at 5:00pm to 9:30 or 10pm. Cost for event without ticket insurance was $25 per person for adults. Insurance was about $7 per ticket, eg in case it's raining I could get my money back. All staff we encountered at the ticket office, entry to park security personnel, throughout the exhibit and including maintenance staff in the restrooms were friendly, helpful and professional. Bathrooms were super clean. The grounds were super clean, raked, spotless. The light exhibit was in the middle of the ball diamond. There were plenty of lights, exhibits, music, dry ice bubble machines, interactive activities and an acrobat show. What a wonderful time we had. This is definitely fun and appealing to all age groups. It's accessible to everyone including wheelchairs, strollers, slow walkers and definitely kid friendly. This is totally worth the fee, and I'm glad we waited until after Christmas. Very little crowds, friendly crowds. read more

The game was great, but the ballpark was disappointing. The park was packed as usual; however, half of the concessions were closed. That led to ridiculous lines that took nearly an hour to get through, and once you got up to order--the workers were stressed out, overwhelmed, and unable to handle the workload. Orders were coming out completely cold and they were coming out wrong--if they came out at all. Food options were super limited. Hopefully it'll be better next time we go! read more

Really disappointed in the Stockton Ports last night 6/30. 106 degrees and they waited until 605pm to allow guests in the park. This while the staff looked on enjoying the shade as we stood there with sweat dripped from our faces. Not really smart when 85% of the fans are over 50. We did enjoy the MC. He was very entertaining and quick witted. Food was great! The Facilities Manager needs to be more aware of the weather and make adjustments as needed. read more

Took in the Fourth of July game, so we could enjoy a fireworks show for the holiday. Excellent show! It was at least ten minutes and was quite impressive! Again, this place does offer reasonable ticket prices, $16 for right behind home plate, second row. I'm withholding stars because the food hasn't improved, and competency is sorely lacking. They couldn't handle a crowd of 3,400. Concession stands were way over-matched, with waits too long and running out of product, like popcorn! Really? Couldn't believe it. And there was no organization or direction provided to aid in clearing the parking lot afterwards. It was a complete cluster of a mess and took forever and no traffic police or personnel directing the heavy traffic. I've gotten out of Candlestick Park more easily in the day. read more

Great minor league ballpark for the Stockton Ports, a class A farm team of the Oakland A's. Pristine field. Seats close to the action. Very little seating in the shade, so bring loads of sunscreen to day games. Free programs were available at the information booth inside the main gate. Bless you!! Lines can be epic at the concession stands. I didn't get to try the food. No vendors at the midweek day game we attended. Parking lots can be a touch confusing, so grab a street spot if you can. Cash not accepted! My issues are overall very very minor - this is a fine place to enjoy a ballgame with the family (dogs allowed at select games in the grassy areas). read more

The fans were super nice, restrooms were clean, people were beyond friendly, and there weren't any lines for any of the amenities. We made the mistake of purchasing our tickets online via the website and ended up paying way too much for tickets. If you're going to go, pay the minimum and sit anywhere and everywhere around the stadium. You're allowed a bunch of leeway. The really cool part about this place is that they have quite a number of seats with great views. You can sit out on the grassy patches, dugouts, bar areas, ice cream areas, etc. You name it, you can sit there! Overall, had a blast watching the Ports and getting my Running Gus ball cap! This review applies only to the availability of water for personal water bottles. We are trying to eliminate the use of plastic bottles by bringing our own water bottles. Water is available at the ballpark from drinking fountains that appear to be well maintained. The big plus is the availability of ice. There are several concessions that will fill your water bottle with ice. You then take the water bottle to a drinking fountain to fill it with water. What would be really nice would be water stations that dispense ice and filtered chilled water. read more

Home of the Single A Oakland A's affiliate Ports, this is a great little ballpark in the heart of Stockton. It's in the same parking lot as the arena where the footie and hockey teams play. There's parking on the streets nearby as well, if you dare... My bf kept asking me what I thought of the neighborhood we parked in. I don't know. There was a house with three sleepy kitties on the porch. I've seen worse. If you've always wanted to catch yourself a foul ball, this minor league park is the place to do it. Don't be all up in your smartphone too much. You might get beaned in the head. Jus' sayin.' Banner Island puts you up close and personal with the game. I've never had closer seats to the action, even at Raley Field, where our Triple A San Francisco Giants affiliate Sacramento Rivercats play. My friend, my dude, and I only paid about $10 a person for front row seats in left field. What a steal! My word of advice is the prepare like you would for a game in the city. It was 57 degrees last night and even in a hoodie, I was chilly. Could have been my birks and the giant holes in my jeans. Dress warmly and bring a blanket. The ballpark is on the port and the delta breeze does blow. And blow. They offer good food options, and on the cheaper side, too. Churros. Big ol' cans of Modelo. Deep fried asparagus! Keep in mind not all kiosks accept cards, and there is no ATM in the park. I also enjoyed Announcer Dude, who dropped a Gladiator reference when the Ports beat the Lancaster Jethawks last night. This is. Great MiLB ballpark. Been coming here since the A's took over. Love sitting between home plate and the Ports dugout. Great food selections throughout the park. Great fans and a good atmosphere for a Single A team. Great talent to watch come up before we see them at the Coliseum to play in the Bigs! We had a good time here for the most part at Nitro Circus last night. We had great seats that we paid a lot of money for... only to have them place tall speakers right in front of our view. The place was clean and bathrooms were great but they ran out of TP in the ladies room by 7pm and did not replace. My biggest complaint is the food. The food prices and what you get for what you pay is a crime. We ordered 3 pretzels that they had in the warming machine, that apparently wasn't even turned on because our pretzels were rock hard and COLD. Like, so cold that it felt like they came straight out of a refrigerator. Seriously!?? Burgers plain. No veggies (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, etc) $32 for two beers. Won't eat there again, but I'd go back. read more

In 1888, Banner Island was a place known as "Mudville." On April 28, 2005, "the new" Banner Island Ballpark opened with a game during which the Stockton Ports defeated the San Jose Giants 7-4 in front of a sellout crowd. This April (2009) will mark not only the ballparks 5th anniversary, but the Oakland A's, Single A affiliated Stockton Port's 5th anniversary as well. If you ever in the mood for really cheap and great time out, this is the place you want to be. The ballpark resembles that of the major league park, but unlike the major league parks, no matter where you sit, your in the best seats. I have enjoyed both major and minor league baseball for years. I have been a season ticket holder of both the Oakland A's and the San Francisco Giants, but neither of those teams or ballparks can compair to what the minors offer - ACTION!! I was in town visiting my parents for a week, and they're season ticket holders for the Stockton Ports. I enjoy minor league baseball, so I decided to go to a couple of games. It's a nice little stadium! It doesn't really have a view of anything (but the baseball game of course) but that's ok. I went to two evening games, so I'm not sure how the sun situation is for day games, we were in the shade pretty much the entire time. The games were entertaining, and there were some fun little promo stuff between the innings, and the staff is really friendly. There were a couple of things that bugged me. I know that sports stadiums generally have inflated beer prices, but I was really surprised at the price of the beers at the microbrew cart. $8 for a beer that was maybe 12oz seemed a little high to me compared to other minor league parks, and I was pretty disappointed that although they were mostly micro, none of them were from Stockton, they were all from Southern Cal or some of the "pretend" micros that have been bought by the big brewers. It took away some of the local flavor that I was looking forward to experiencing. Some of the food stands seemed to shut down pretty early, but there weren't huge crowds at the games I went to, so I suppose that's understandable. I did get a hot dog on my second visit, and I was surprised they don't warm or steam their buns. Putting a frank onto a cold bun makes for a less than stellar experience. Otherwise everything was fine and we had a great time. I'd definitely go to a game here again. read more

Went to opening night for the Ports this evening. Haven't been in many years. Similar to how I remembered it--intimate family friendly ballpark. Parking is easy--parking for those with passes is right in front of the stadium, for those without passes there is a nearby garage or lots. Staff is SUPER friendly, announcer is great, Splash (mascot) is cute and really puts smiles on kids faces. Food was delish and pretty cheap for ballpark food. My son got nachos with BBQ turkey (he thinks, lol) and they were huge, cost $9. He grabbed me a hot dog, $5 and the quintessential baseball dinner. Yum! Bottle of water was $4 and a large soda in a souvenir cup was $6. I've paid more at other sporting venues for much smaller portions and much worse food. The Ports offer many discounted/theme night's throughout the season...baseball bingo, $1 tall boys(beers), Friday freebie, $3 Monday nights ($3 field ticket,$3 soda, $3 hot dog)...super fun! I can't stress enough what a great place this is to bring your kids to for an inexpensive ball game....plus, if they get antsy and want to walk around there's a kids section near the outfield. What a cute little ballpark this is! I was here for a Ports vs. Giants game last night. I love the atmosphere and the weather was just so perfect. Not too windy, not too hot. It was just right. There were bathrooms in close proximity to every side of the ballpark, which in my opinion is very convenient. I loved that they had a variety of food options. On one side you can get Mexican food... Burritos, taco salads, etc. On another end you can get frapples, which are fried apples!!! Sounds disgusting to me, but I'm pretty sure it tastes good for some people. There were other food choices, but those are the ones that stuck to me most. I didn't get anything because I thought they were kind of pricy. Oh, $3 for water? Yeah, no. Security was walking by every 15 minutes or so, I guess to make sure we're all acting right. They even had Stockton Police around, too. There was a bounce house area! $1 a ticket or $5 for an all-day wristband. Pretty convenient if you got kids! All-in-all, the experience I had here was truly memorable and I would totally come back in the future! read more

Celebrated the 4th here with family & friends. The firework display was amazing ! Staff were friendly considering how incredibly busy they were. Some food items can stand an upgrade, but plenty of options available. Waited around about 30 minutes post fireworks due to hubby collecting post game prize (woot woot!). Headed to our car and we were quickly and efficiently directed out of the parking lot. We were out & freeway bound in 5 minutes. My husband and I caught a Ports vs Giants game here the night before a flight to Vegas. BI is a great park, the fitting little brother to Raley Field in Sacramento; it was clean and well-maintained, with plenty of staff walking around to assist. Not all of the concession stands were open and there weren't tons of people, so all waits were minimal. We ate at the cantina - a taco salad and specialty nachos. They weren't fantastic, but were a step above regular concession foods so I'd order them again. The hot dog wasn't great, but the Dr. Pepper was on point (I like my sodas). Along the concourse were plenty of little stands for snacks and alcoholic beverages, including one that looked more like a candy store and one featuring deep fried asparagus and deep fried pb&j sandwiches. After the nachos, I didn't have room for anything else, so I'll save those for next visit. We really enjoyed this experience and will bring our kids next time so they can check out the bounce house in the kids area. read more

And this place was a surprise really reasonable seat right on the field it is a very nice park and they really keeps the kids involved with competing for them on the field between every inning my 6 year old had a great time and so did eye. Take me out to the ball game....now if you want some cheap, I mean cheap entertainment, this my yelp friends is it. We go at least once a year, heck, I grew up on the ports. My bro and I used to stand at the top of the Billie Hebert Stadium and (I know it's gross, but I was a little tomboy) spit on the spectators walking to the concession stand, bathroom, whatever. Yuck, makes you want to wear a ball cap, don't it? So the first game I went to at Banner Island, what a treat, must be 5 degrees cooler on the water, or it at least appears to be. Many nights you'll get treated to a fireworks show, get a chance to run out on the field, make a fool of yourself and win a prize or hear a cool band playing pregame while you down one of those awesome tri-tip sandwiches. This is minor-league baseball as good as it gets.....GO PORTS! read more

Love the park and the Stockton Ports and was happy when they left the hole they had been playing in called Billy Hebert. Sure some of the dealings were skewed but at least someone had the balls to build something down town. Just to bad the economy took a dump at the same time and caused some pain. My friends and I enjoyed an amazing summer as regulars at Banner Island Ballpark, attending nearly two dozen games this season. I live in Marin County and make the two-hour drive without hesitation because this place is so dear to me. Put aside the "Stockton" factor. The ballpark is safe, well-kept, and a wonderful family atmosphere. The staff, beginning with on-field emcee Jeremy Neisser, works hard to keep fans entertained and involved. Concessions range from classic ballpark grub (hot dogs and beer) to local flavor (fried asparagus, anyone?), and the Volcano drinks served over dry ice are a definite conversation starter. Many current Oakland Athletics played for the Ports, and the team on the field features a mix of can't-miss prospects and organizational guys. Coming back series after series, we learned their walkup songs and quirks, and grew to love every member of the roster. Post-game, my friends and I would hunt for memorabilia, and one of us would usually go home with the official lineup card (both home and visiting teams are often happy to oblige.) Players hang around to sign autographs even after a loss, and there's always time for a photo with the mascot, Splash. I sincerely hope that the Ports remain in Stockton for years to come, and by continued attendance, us fans can help send this message. read more

You get the feeling, after going to a few Single-A minor league games, that there's not much in the way of creativity when it comes to designing minor league ballparks. Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton very much fits into that mold. There's nothing particularly notable about the stadium, nor is there anything particularly displeasing about it either! If you weren't paying attention, you'd swear you were in any of the other California league stadiums! If it weren't for the very obvious Stockton Arena on the left field side, you'd have no idea you were in Stockton. What's a shame too is that this ballpark is on the waterfront, yet the architecture doesn't take advantage of that location at all. Lots of diversions here for the little ones -- a little mini-play zone is beyond the outfield, and there's even a batting cage with an employee throwing real BP! I took some cuts and had quite a blast doing so! Food is on par for this level -- nothing outstanding, and all the usual fare. Parking is plentiful, with a parking structure as well as ground lots. If you're catching a game during the summer, you'd be best served trying to find seats on the first base side as the sun shines directly down on the third base side. read more

Having never been to a minor league game before coming to a Ports game, as well as it being in Stockton of all places, I had absolutely zero expectations in coming here. When my gf suggested we come to a game here, I was seriously expecting it to be such a trashy and unkempt stadium without any amenities. Especially cause of the price. We got seats right behind home plate for under $10. So yeah, I was expecting typical run down Stockton kinda ghetto. So glad I was wrong. First off, it is one of the cleanest ballparks I've ever been in. Cleaner than AT&T Park even. There's plenty of good food around the stadium, and you could sit anywhere and be close to the action. In between all the innings, they have a lot of really random entertainment, like competitions between little kids or free giveaways. It was nice to be kept entertained at all times. I can't wait to come back to another Ports game. It's probably the best money that you can spend in Stockton. read more

Went to Banner Island Ballpark yesterday for the Ports game. I think it was opening day. A friend had free tickets so it was good night to watch a game. The weather was great, too. It's your average ballpark. There wasn't anything extraordinary about it. Parking was a little confusing because they had the entrances to the lots blocked off. We had to park 4 blocks down on the street. The overflow parking across the stadium was also closed. The festivities throughout the game were entertaining. I liked the asparagus race. The green and yellow asparagus(es) were left in the dust by the brown asparagus. Very funny! The game itself was getting slow toward the end, but man, oh man... what a finish. The Ports hit a homer at the 9th inning, winning the game 8 to 7. It certainly was a cause for fireworks! I'd go to another game. It was very relaxing and fun! We came here not to see a game, but the Dylan-Mellencamp-Willie Nelson concert. But I could still tell it's a very good baseball facility. Hard to imagine that there are any bad seats in the house. Parking is really close in, and the concession areas are easy to navigate (though it was mildly annoying that some lines -- at the same stand -- are cash only but not well marked as such). There could be a better choice of food, but I'm probably spoiled by AT&T Park, and they've got some nice draft beers (Blue Moon, Stella, etc.) I did wonder why the home team's dugout has an ATM in it, though. read more

Love this place! The Ports are a decent team and are part of the Oakland A's ball club. They have great promos and event nights. Every seat is a good seat and always affordable. They have Thirsty Thursday's with $1 beers and $1 hot dogs! I know they offer discount tickets on Wed nights too. This is a great place for family or just a night out with friends. They have a lot of games in between innings and they offer prizes throughout the game. Parking is affordable or there are plenty of neighborhoods to park in. Just be careful to lock your doors and not to leave any belongings in plain view because the neighborhood isn't the best. We come here all of the time and have never been disappointed.
