I made the mistake of trying to save money by going to a private mechanic, Tony Hernandez of Banning (current residence unknown). After Tony installed a new air conditioner compressor, he gave me back my Jeep and the air conditioner worked great. But the Jeep wouldn't shift, so I took it back to him. He told me I needed a new transmission. I said it worked fine before you put in the new compressor, he said that didn't have anything to do with it. He said $1450 to do the work and wanted $750 up front to buy the trans. After a week, no trans. After 2 weeks, no trans. I started to get concerned, but he just lived down the street from me and came recommended. After 3 weeks, I asked what was going on, he said the transmission hasn't arrived. Then he asked me for the balance of $700 because his finances were tight as he was separating from his wife and moving. I said no way and he moved. 4 weeks later, no contact from Tony Hernandez, no refund and he said he "lost" my key so had to buy another one for $330. I took the Jeep to Hector and told him the story. He checked the transmission, replaced the valve body and told me I didn't need a new transmission. The Jeep has run beautifully ever since. Hector might charge a little more than the next guy, but you can be sure his work will be solid and more importantly, he will be HONEST with you about what your car needs. I'll take my car back to him without hesitation in the future if I need something done. I'm suing Tony Hernandez, but just don't know how to serve him the court docs because he's not going to tell me where he lives now. What a crook. He saw a retired guy and figured he's get whatever he could out of me and disappear. Hope he's able to look in the mirror at the end of the day, ripping off a senior. I know I wouldn't be able to. Sad part is, he probably doesn't even give it a second thought. read more

Well where do I start...I spoke with a Gentleman about rebuilding the transmission . He quoted me a price which seemed extremely fair. So I had my truck towed to their shop, as they don't have a tow service... Understood..Now I spoke a them doing a few upgrades to the transmission. Upgrade to the clutch, torque converter and adding a bigger transmission cooler. After my truck was towed over and had to go to their shop ,per their request to sign paperwork. No problem I went over. To my surprise I was quoted incorrectly now the price had increased by about 800 dollars.. I was a bit upset as this was all arranged vie text to the gentlemen i spoke with via text. Shop owner isn't whio i spke with via text messages. So the shop owner explained my tuck used a different transmission. (A 5 speed) Okay iwas a bit upset but went forward. Iwas told one week... it turned into about 2 and a half months later .Now I have another car so I wasn't to upset. Butjust seemed very long. During the waiting I always had to check on updates I would be told in a couple of days every time..Finaly after i get the truck back im just now happy so i go grab it.Imust have put 30 miles on the truck before it caught on FIRE!! My truck was olddr... 2005 dodge ram 1500 . I am Original owner so All Maintenance was done on time. I had just bought new tires and I was on the way to the tire shop before it went up in flames. As I was driving their was a big smke clouds coming from the bottom, so ipulled over and looked to my amazement near the transmission and the motor their was a fire going. So we call the fire department but it was to late. Myself and the fire department saw the trail of fluid....It was transmission fluid... the fire department wrote it down and should be available to the public. Im not a mechanic the lines for the transmission cooler where ran incorrect as the hoses made contact the the motor and ruptured the rubber lines and the continuous heat of the rubber started the smoke and then fire follows . Insurance only covered the cost of my truck which is fair. Icalled transmission shop and they claim transmission fluid is not flammable...Insurance will not fight for more money as the age of truck. The transmission shop didn't carr.. I don't have a truck anymore as they are expensive in these chip storages... Ive waiting to post this but im the one who is struggling... My 2006 Ford expedition needed a full and total replacement of the transmission. I contacted Hector, the owner, and made arrangements for the transmission replacement. On the date agreed, I brought my car over, and that late afternoon I drove my car out with a brand new transmission fully installed. They were professional and courteous as I was waiting for my repair work to be completed. Provided the warranty with the new parts, and additional warranty for his labor. This place is a ripe off! Please don't take your cars here!! Im so serious!! This guy could not fix my transmission and kept my car longer then 6 months. I had to take my car somewhere else to get it fixed right!! Hector told me that he would give me back my money but in payments only!! LOL well I found that unfair since I gave him all the money in full when he wanted it! I had to take him to smalls claims and it took him over a year to pay me back. We had an agreement through the courts and he would still give us the run around when it came to him paying us back!! He advertises that he's business is BBB, and it is not!! Come here if you want to get ripped off. I brought my car here for a brake change and Hector the owner charged me $700.00 to change my pads and two sensors. My car was working fine before I brought it to him because 3 days later my car started pulling itself I brought it back to him he said my car needed a new computer he would replace it for me for another 700.00 and if my car was still acting up it would be the transmission he could fix for me for another 4,000. So i guess he would just wing it. I don't recommend this place to anyone this man will do things to your car so you can bring it back, he ripped me off bad. read more

Hector and his mechanic definitely deserve this 5 star review. I am in no way related to this business I am simply giving credit where it is due. Two months ago I was traveling to the LA area for business and lost all forward gears in my truck. I had it towed to banning transmission as it was the closest shop that serviced diesel trucks. I perform all mechanic work on my vehicles and was very anxious having someone else diagnose and fix my transmission. Hector immediately began to work on my truck Monday morning and had me back on the road with a rebuilt HD trans by Thursday! Of course I had to drive over 500 mi back home and still had a concern but it's been two months now and the trans is working perfectly! OK, so I was a dumb ass for not reading his crappy reviews!!! Like the other guy on here, he fixed my transmission in Moreno Valley and when it leaked after only 300 miles and less than a year he said he didn't need to honor the warranty.I called the BBB and they said since he closed one shop and kept the other one in Banning there was nothing could be done. Oh, he did say bring it in and if it's an "easy" fix he would take care of it. So, what if it wasn't an easy fix. This guy is a shyster. He doesn't stand behind his work. The warranty isn't worth the paper it is written on. My suggestion is for anyone reading this review, DON'T LET HIM WORK ON YOUR CAR.
