My 2007 Nissan Titan transmission went out and I towed it to two other shops before bringing it to J&C Transmission. I should have come here first! The other shops told me there was nothing that could be done other than finding a new transmission. J&C Transmission was the only shop that offered to fix it OR replace it unlike the other shops. I appreciated the options. I ended up replacing it all together and they still saved me a ton of money in comparison to the other local shops. Took my 2008 F250 here as I thought I had a transmission leak. Roman diagnosed the vehicle and told me my leak was not from my transmission but from somewhere in my engine block. He did the complete diagnosis, explained the problem to me comprehensively and charged me $0 (he couldn't fix as he only does transmissions). It's rare to find a mechanic this honest these days. The transmission on my Honda Accord was slipping and a basic automotive repair shop I trust highly recommended J&C. I called J&C and talk to Roman about the problem with my car and he gave me an estimate over the phone. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable over the phone. Rolman and his staff are AWESOME!!!! He did a front to back tranny rebuild on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 five years ago. Price was fair, and within an hour and a half he had my tranny on a bench showing me where the problems were. He even showed me parts that had plenty of wear left and gave me the option to keep using them or replacing them. I chose to replace everything since he was in that deep. By the afternoon I was rolling again. This morning I was experiencing a hard vibration from what I thought was the tranny. Thought I was in for another rebuild. After a test drive that he did with me, he was sure it was something else. Before my truck was fully in the air on the rack he pointed out the problem. The center support for the drive line was worn out. Way cheaper than a rebuild. So I asked him to replace all of the drivetrain fluids. He said, "I'm pretty sure we did the diffs less than 30K miles ago". So he said there's no need for that expense. Bottom line, he knows what he's doing and will not soak you for extra cash even when you're throwing it at him. I will return to Rolman for all of my tranny/driveline needs. What a guy!! BTW-the guy that gave this place 1 star, most people that have received service at J&C won't agree with you. read more

I was very impressed with all the positive reviews of J & C plus they'd been open for 20 years. Good track record in my book! Tuesday my daughters car developed transmission problems and we had it towed to J & C, owner Rolman Calderon found the transmission needed to be rebuilt, we approved repairs, he said it would take a week. Following Mon I called 4 times to get an update and no one answered the phone. Stopped by J & C after work and found the shop locked up, went next door to Tire Repair shop and asked if they'd seen anyone from J & C, they said J & C had been closed all day and that they were closed the previous Fri too. No one from J & C has contacted us! Now I'm afraid we won't get access my daughters car, plus we'll have to find another repair shop! read more

While visiting my daughter in So. Cal. my transmission in my Ram truck went out. After checking with several auto repair shops, I was directed to J& C transmission repair. Not only did he rebuild my transmission, but the price was more then reasonable. The work was warrantied for a year or 12,000 miles. Upon returning to Idaho I noticed some slippage. These guys were good, shop is clean and neat, they were done when they said they would be done, they itemized the work, they gave price options for parts which I like. Two things impressed me the most, they wanted me to take the car for a test drive before I paid, which tells me they are trying to be transparent, the second thing is they wanted me to come back in 15 days so they could pull the pan off of the tranny and check to make sure everything was good (no additional charge). They rebuilt the whole tranny, its running great and am hopeful it will continue. They also noticed a sound coming from the bearings and asked me to come have a listen. I thought it was the tires but it turned out to be the bearings, I had them fix that as well and no more sound. I almost bought new tires... ouch. Feels like a good investment on a 15 year old car. My Blazer broke down just outside of Redlands, CA on a road trip from Tucson to Northern CA. A week ago I had a remanufactured motor installed in Tucson. Apparently it was installed wrong and damaged my transmission oil pump. J&C identified the issue as well as a couple other issues that could have resulted in more problems down the road. I am very happy with J&C and feel extremely lucky to have chosen them at random being that I am from out of town and clueless about this area. They repaired my Blazer the next day and charged a very reasonable rate to do it. I wish there were more repair shops like J&C. I cannot emphasize how incredibly satisfied I am with the service I received from Rolman and his crew at J&C Transmission Shop. I took my 2007 Mustang with 151,000 miles in because the clutch was slipping badly, and I believed the 1-2 gear syncro had failed. First to second shifts would grind badly unless I allowed the engine rpms to drop almost to idle before shifting. Rolman was very clear in explaining exactly what my options were, and what the costs would be. I decided to just do the clutch, and save up for a future transmission rebuild. Rolman then gave me several choices of clutch kits, and carefully explained the differences and benefits of each, and the cost differences. I opted for the Valeo kit, since it was the brand used by Ford at the factory. His estimate was from $400 to $700 less than I had received from shops in the Colton area. I dropped off the car at 8AM and got a ride to work. Rolman called me at 1:15 to tell me it was all done. When I arrived, Rolman was about to take another car out for a rest drive. With a smile, he told me to take my Mustang out and see how it felt. To my amazement, the 1-2 grind was GONE! When I pulled back into the shop, Rolman was standing in the bay, smiling. I said "Oh my God, what did you do?" He said, "The grind is gone, huh?" I was overjoyed, apparently something in the clutch assembly wasn't allowing the 1-2 shift to complete smoothly. Rolman is a rare individual, he is an honest and sincere businessman who truly believes in doing right by his customers. The quality of work and customer service at J&C was incredible. I called to ask questions when my 2006 4Runner started making what sounded like a terrible transmission noise. Rolman was very knowledgable and patiently answered ally questions. When I took the car in, we went for a drive together to hear the noise and see how it ran. With his wealth of experience, Rolman was 99% sure what the problem was. He quoted me a fair price and promised the car would be done by Wednesday. He called later that night to say it was the lesser problem and that the cost would be even less. The car was ready on Wednesday as promised and hasn't had any problems in the month since then. I have been to very few honest automotive repair shops and J &C transmissions tops all of them by far. The Dodge dealership in Sanbernardino took 2 days to tell me they need an additional 1600.oo to diagnose the problem with my truck. I decided to go to JC transmissions and Rolman diagnosed the problem with my truck with me standing right there. He fixed the problem less than 2 days at a cost of 948.00 he saved me tons of money. It doesn't stop there, I thought my U joints needed to be replaced but he told me that they were fine. On the day I came to pick up my truck I was running late and he waited for me. This is how you do business!!!. If you don't use J&C Transmission or Tim's Transmission you're the fool. Here's my story. I had my transmission rebuilt to my 2001 Isuzu Trooper back in July of 2011. I used a small shop called Tim's Transmission in Derry NH. That right New Hampshire. I drove the Trooper across the country the first week of October 2011. When I got to Las Vegas the transmission starting acting up! I got to my home in California and called Tim's Transmission and explained the issues. I got a 12 month 12k unlimited warranty. He without hesitation asked me to look for a reputable shop. I did a Google search and J&C came up with 5 stars. I gave the number to Tim and he called them and talked with Rolman. Tim and Rolman discussed the potential issue and between the two of them made arrangement to take care of my issues. I dropped my car off and 4 hours later I got a call from Rolman, the Trooper was ready to pick up. At zero cost to me and I mean Zippo! Nadda!! NOTHING! Tim's Transmission and J&C (who didn't even have any responsibility to my issue) corrected the matter and got me back on my way. WOW this is almost not heard of in this day and age. An unforeseen expense came up during the job, and the shop just ate the cost rather than charging me more than was quoted. The rebuild also came with a three-year, unlimited mile warranty. I did the labor and pulled the transmission on my Ford Explorer. I called J&C up today and asked him if they could do the bench job rebuild. First I was given stipulations that once I re-install it I need to bring it back in as the computer needs to be re-programmed, the wiring harness needs inspected, and the trans cooler needs to be properly flushed. If I agreed to do that he would rebuild it. I said ok and then was quoted $1675. For a bench rebuild where I already pulled the trans and did a majority of the work. Are you kidding me. I had a bench job done on a trans in my Chevy truck that cost me $500. I can buy an off the shelf rebuilt trans for cheaper than their price. I'm sure they do good work but that price is ridiculous. read more
