The bowl was flavorful and satisfying, but the fries were disappointing--bland and tasted like they had been refried from frozen. Our friend ordered the OG chicken sandwich, which she felt was lacking in seasoning and could've used more mushrooms. I tried a bite myself and actually found it pretty flavorful, especially with the pretzel bun, which was a nice touch. The restaurant was a bit warm when we arrived, but the staff was quick to adjust the air conditioning when we asked--much appreciated! I seriously want to move in next door to this place. Fantastic good, amazing service and genuine conversation. What else could you wish for? "Tasty vegan sandwiches and sides -- watch accuracy if get delivery" I confess my score here is inflated given I ordered 3 items and only got one of them correctly, but I'm rating based on how much I liked my dish rather than accuracy since, if I'd "eaten in", this presumably could have been fixed quickly & easily. I ordered from here late on a Saturday afternoon directly from the Yelp app (which connects to GrubHub). I asked for the philly fake steak and smoked collard greens, and my wife wanted the pulled jack sandwich. The food came pretty quickly, much faster than the app estimated initially. Alas, we got two philly fake steaks and no collards. I called the app's customer service number to inquire, and the restaurant apparently had already refunded the collards. That's "fair", but I'd have much rather they called me and asked if I wanted something else instead of just refunding and not having it delivered-- I'd totally have asked for the mackin cheese (which is the same price). Yes, I could order again to get the side, but the delivery fee was $6, plus an added service fee, so no thank you. Customer service also refunded the incorrect second philly steak (which was supposed to be pulled jack). So, why 4 stars? Because I REALLY liked my philly steak. I will say it looked, tasted, and had the texture more like chicken than like beef. Note the sauce is also mildly spicy, so be aware if you are very spice-sensitive. The peppers and onions were cooked perfectly, too. As others have said, the salsa that comes with the blue chips is also really tasty. And while I'm not vegan, I appreciated not having to take a lactase pill. Would I get this again? Definitely would consider it for dine-in or takeout, but I'm iffy about delivery again. read more

I ordered ahead and it was still being made when I arrived. Since I had my small baby with me, the young man at the counter said he would bring my order curbside so I wouldn't have to get out of the car. The owners are really easy and great to talk to and it feels like a family atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door. As a non-vegan I am super excited about Banu Vegan! My sister and I ordered an OG Chikin Sandwich, Philly Fake Steak & a Mackin Cheez. For one thing, they KNOW how to season their food exceptionally well. Both our crispy air fried oyster mushrooms and the fake steak were seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. Accidentally happened upon this place and we are very glad we did! The food was flavorful. The portion sizes were good. The prices were reasonable. Cherrie, the chef, at Banu Vegan prepares the most delicious vegan food I have ever had the pleasure of eating from a restaurant, and I don't mean restaurants just in North Carolina but including restaurants in several states located in the Midwest, southern, and eastern United States. The dishes I have eaten at Banu Vegan include the Banu burger on a bun as well as in a wrap, the power bowl and most recently, a scrumptious dinner plate that included meatloaf, mashed red potatoes, cabbage,, cornbread muffin, and a peanut butter chocolate dessert.
