    Beef empanada, and cheese curds

5 stars isn't enough, this place deserves 100+!!! Jeremy and the team are doing some amazing work here. P&L was my first restaurant stop when moving to Durham and I couldn't stop going. They run a weekly Tuesday bike ride that ends here and do tons to support the local community. From food to beer, game nights and even music, this place has it all. I highly recommend the Chicken Shawarma, beef empanada, cheese curbs and fried banana peppers. It's incredibly welcoming from a food standpoint as well (TONS of vegetarian options). Check them out on your next visit to Durham! PS: late menu starts at 10pm and has a tons of great deals on it.

I love Parts & Labor! Conveniently located in downtown Durham, there is tons of construction going on but there is still plenty of street parking and parking lots around. It's also walkable to a lot of downtown. This is a great place to come with friends. They have lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's perfect to get tons of small plates/apps and share. They also have meals. When we went it was 8pm on a Thursday evening and not too busy but there was a line to place your food order. There is only one line where you can place your food order. It does not seem that you can do it from your table. So it takes a while to get through the line and order. That being said, after we ordered our food came out quickly. I got the Prosecco and it was not my favorite. It's on the sweeter side and I like my Prosecco dry. If I had to guess it's probably sweeter for the drinks that they mix their Prosecco with. My shawarma ($9) was delicious!

Stopped in for lunch today - it was super hot (99F to be exact) so we sat "inside" but none of the fans were on, so it was hottt. Incredibly cool vibe - loved the seating and outdoor venue. My husband had three beer and wished the cold mugs would've been a lot colder. We order the beef empanadas (which were great), the cheese curds (also great), and bulgogi rice bowl which were okay. The kimchi on the bulgogi bowl was good but it had a ton of spicy, siracha-like sauce which was very overpowering. The food came out quick and the service was good - our one complaint was the music... for the hour and a half we sat inside and all that played was loud, Chicano rap. Would've loved a little more music diversity. Otherwise, great spot!

Ate here for lunch for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! Large menu with a lot of vegan options! I tried the mango house soda- but there were so many delicious looking flavors I would have liked to try- this one was tart and fruity. The ambiance was nice. Despite the hot summer day, and the garage doors being opened, they had lots of ceiling fans so it was comfortable! The person who took our orders was friendly and our food came quickly. I got the udon noodle bowl with tofu and my husband got the beef schwarma. Both portions were generous and flavors were delicious. Can't wait to go back!

It was fantastic! We went for lunch and I had the pork bulgogi bowl. The person behind the bar was very helpful when we were making our choices too. Sitting outside was absolutely amazing on a beautiful day. I definitely want to go back and see live music next time.

Parts & Labor is the restaurant/bar next to MotorCo Music Hall. To drink, I got the Mango Tropical Soda which is non-alcoholic and has mango, grapefruit, cranberry, lemon, and pomegranate. I also got a Paloma (tequila, house-made grapefruit soda, Tajin rim). Both were really good! For food, we ordered a variety of things: cheeseburger sliders, vegan & beef empanadas, cauliflower nugs, fried banana peppers, fried cheese curds, pakoras, French fries, and motor-oil & buffalo wings. Everything was good, but nothing mind-blowing; my favorite was probably the beef empanada. Ambiance is nice, service was a little slow but fine. Free nearby parking is pretty limited. 7.5/10 would recommend! I do want to catch a show at MotorCo sometime.

Fun spot with nice outdoor patio seating - order food and drink at bar, they give you a number and bring it to your table. Bar service was a little slow. I thought the cauliflower bites were delicious but thought it was odd that the buffalo sauce (spicy!!!) was served on the side, not tossed. Also they made us start an entire new bill for $0.50 for a side of blue cheese with the nuggets...

What a pleasant surprise! I stopped by for a quick bite and was really impressed. The location is super cool--it clearly has that old garage vibe, with lots of open seating that spills out to the outside. The bar was well-stocked with plenty of great choices, and I couldn't resist grabbing a refreshing beer. I opted for tacos from the specials menu, and they were delicious. Paired with a cold beer on a hot day, it was the perfect meal. I'm already planning my next visit, especially since it's connected to a concert hall!

Parts & Labor has such a chill vibe and is a great spot to take a break, especially if you're biking through the area. The huge outdoor patio is a highlight, plenty of space, with fans and heaters to keep you comfortable year-round, and it's pup-friendly which is always a win. I grabbed a Kentucky Mule and a beer, both hit the spot. For snacks, I tried the cheese curds, french fries, and cauliflower wings. Everything was tasty, the cauliflower wings were surprisingly good and the fries were crispy. The cheese curds leaned a little on the greasy side, but still enjoyable. Overall, it was the perfect pit stop to recharge and relax. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a laid-back atmosphere with good drinks, tasty bites, and a great patio vibe.

My friends and I came here to grab a drink and some food before going to a show at Motorco. It was busy but we had no trouble finding a table. We were all pretty impressed by how reasonably the food and drinks were priced, especially compared to other places downtown. The food took a little while to come out, but it tasted good. I only tried the fries, but they had a unique, diverse menu with a lot of different options so I feel like this would be a great place to dine with a group of friends, regardless of their taste preferences.

    Orangeade. (It's ridiculously delicious)
    Sergio M.

Hip little spot next to Motorco Music Hall. Plenty of Beers to choose from. Menu is fresh and exciting. We got non alcoholic options to drink. Orangeade and Tropical fruit soda (forget the actual name) the orangeade was spectacular! So refreshing and tasty. It was pretty busy but our food don't take very long to arrive. The Canuck Poutine had an awesome mushroom gravy and the cheese curds where nice and melty. The Moto-banh was yummy. the fresh jalapeño added a huge kick in spice so be warned it's Spicy! The sesame udon salad was fresh and crisp and delicious. Definitely wanna make our way down the rest of the menu.

Hipster Poutine, Buffalo wings, bulgogi tacos
    Surika A.

This is a nice indoor/outdoor brewery with a wide selection of beers and ciders on tap and in cans. The location is great because it's in downtown Durham and near Boxcar so you can easily walk around to other places. The drinks were the standout, I highly recommend the Golden Road beer. It was refreshing and Mango flavored. As far as the food, it was decent but nothing that stood out. But there were a lot of options which is good. I got the wings which were fine and I shared the "hipster poutine." It's with bulgogi and kimchi, so I'm not really sure what makes Korean elements "hipster". It was a good size and pretty filling while the other food options seem to be more single serving. If you're looking for a place to chill and get some beers outside in Durham, this is definitely a good option.

The Braai chicken was not my favorite, but only because I didn't care too much for the peanut sauce it was served in. The chicken was tender and had a great char flavor, but it wasn't seasoned well since it was seasoned with powdered ginger which doesn't really pack enough of a punch flavor wise. However, the braised goat was the star! The goat was delicious and tender and the jollof rice was different than I'm used to but good. The sauce though! The sauce the goat was served in was phenomenal. I'd love to bottle that and have it on every meal. I also took the Braai chicken and rolled it around in the sauce, which improved it exponentially. I'd return for that braised goat!

The food and concept were great, but unfortunately the experience was a little lackluster. I made reservations a few weeks ahead of time online because this does sell out. I did the prix fixe igloo dinner experience that's $65 per person. There are four courses included and you can add drinks for an additional fee. When you book the reservation for this, they also take a $50 deposit that gets applied to the final bill. I also learned later there is a 20% service charge added to your bill too. My husband and I got there a few minutes ahead of our reservation and were able to be taken to our igloo immediately. Sadly, that was when the superb service ended. Our igloo was right next to the hostess stand and the few times she was actually sitting at the stand, she was on her phone FaceTiming someone. The Igloo Prix Fixe is advertised as a 90 minute "leisurely" dining experience, but this was way too slow of service. It took almost 20 minutes for our server to greet us and take our order. When you order, you order all four courses at once. I ordered the bay gem salad, butternut squash ravioli, truffle steak (a $5 up-charge), and butterscotch pudding. They didn't have the ravioli, so they substituted it to for macaroni & cheese. My husband also ordered a soda. Course 1 came in about 5ish minutes; however, it took 30 minutes for my husband to get his soda. It then took 40 minutes after Course 1 for Course 2. Course 3 came 10 minutes later. Course 4 came 20 minutes after that. I will say all the food was great! I would only recommend they work on food timing. It felt that there should have been a longer wait between Course 2 and 3 rather than 1 and 2. The whole experience also took a little bit longer than 90 minutes, so people should be aware in case they had plans elsewhere afterwards. The inside of the igloo dining area was nice! There were 2 couches and chairs near a space heater so you didn't have to worry about the cold outside. Overall, this was a unique experience, but I probably would not do it again though based on the service.

Obviously portions are small but I would appreciated a bit bigger salad. Next up after we finished our salads was the Mac and cheese (didn't have the squash ravioli) which is fine as we would have preferred the Mac and cheese vs ravioli. The Mac and cheese was SO good. Pipping hot in the middle. After that came our steaks. A but on the smaller side. Smaller then my palm but again, it's a 4 course so knew we'd be full. The steak was good. Almost like a post roast. The sauce they use was really good. Could have used another steak as it was small. They grabbed our plates and it took around 45 minutes to bring our TINY chocolate mousse out. We almost walked out waiting for it but thought it would be worth our wild. It was TWO bites. It was pretty comical. Server never checked on us after grabbing our steak plates to say sorry for the wait. Lucky for her, the 20% gratuity was built in. Overall we left happy (sorta annoyed) as you are paying for the vibe and the ambiance. Would recommend this for a special evening if you have patience and no plans afterwards. Luckily we just had to go up a flight of stairs to our room lol Our total came to $320 with 2 alcoholic drinks, one N/A and 3 steak up charges. Pretty steep. Would love to see it not a set menu and you order off one big menu what you want. I think it'd bring in more people. Next time we wouldn't do any drinks as they were $$$ and we didn't taste much liquor. A fun anniversary dinner with great views!
