So disappointed. I booked a massage that was advertised at $70, yet we were charged $90. Completely unacceptable. On top of that, the massage itself was awful. I clearly asked the masseuse not to use elbows, and that's all she used. She couldn't understand basic instructions at all, which made the entire experience uncomfortable and frustrating. Honestly, I don't even know what that was supposed to be--it was the most unpleasant massage I've ever had. What makes this even more disappointing is that I live right down the street, so this place could've been convenient for me to return to regularly. Not anymore. I explained to the receptionist that I previously had a 60-minute massage here for $70 with another therapist, so why was I now paying $90 for a worse experience? She called the manager, who offered 15% off, which didn't even bring one of the massages down to $70. Overpriced, poor communication, and zero regard for customer requests. I'm not generally a fan of the "corral" type of spa- nothing against it, just not my preferred experience. But I accompanied a friend here and decided to partake. The interior is nice, and there were 9 chairs that were in good condition and fully reclined. The massage oil was not great and had a bit of an unpleasant odor. The water for the foot bath could have been warmer. My masseuse had good skills for the massage itself, but jerked and yanked my limbs around to reposition me. But she was very responsive when I requested that she divert the aggression to my feet, which she did quite well. Prices are not a bargain for what you get, but overall reasonable considering the usual going rate. I'd definitely recommend you make reservations. Street parking if you can find it, and there's a parking garage a short walk away with the first 2 hours free. read more

My amazing sister took us here for a massage after we ate our Tito's tacos. She is trying to heal me so after the spiritual healing we got to spend time together. She sent me an uber from oc to go I'm so thankful for my sister. The lady that answered the phone she was really nice. We got seated right away when we had arrived. Finding parking is a little hard, but I'm sure you can we found one across the street. But the do have street parking which is nice. The front desk lady was really nice, the bathrooms were clean. We got seated quickly one negative is the water was not that warm. They massage my whole body, but I don't like my face touched so I asked them not to touch my face so they massaged my head, my feet my legs and my back which felt really good. I just wish it was a little harder. My lady was really nice. I wish I got her name, but she was really sweet. She did a really nice job even though I like it a little harder because I can take the deep tissue. My sister enjoyed her massage too. We both really liked our massages. A friend suggested getting a foot massage (reflexology) as alternative medicine. I thought it was definitely worth a try. Even if it didn't make a difference I would at least have a nice, relaxing massage. That's how I found Bao Foot Spa. The location is excellent. It's smack dab in the South Beverly Hills shopping district. There's a public parking lot nearby and metered parking. I called the day before and asked the receptionist for the best person for what I was looking for. I told him I wanted only a foot massage as they do other types of massages as well. He suggested Jon. So, the next day I called up and made an appointment with him. The location is inconspicuous. I walked in to a small reception area with two chairs. The massage chairs are all behind a curtain. It's kind of like when you get a manicure and there are a bunch of people in one room of chairs. There are no private rooms. My massage was wonderful. I got only 30 minutes and I wish I had gotten more time but it was my first time and I didn't know how I would feel and didn't want to go overboard. Jon massaged with just the right pressure. Not too hard or too soft. Also, afterwards I felt great and had no soreness. The only thing I did not know when I went in for the massage is that Jon does not speak English and they have no one who can translate so I was not able to tell him what I wanted. I was lucky though because everything worked out fine and I didn't have to say much. The reason why I gave this place only three stars is because, although my massage was wonderful, the receptionist was awful. She was dressed in grunge attire in baggy jeans and a loose tee which was inappropriate attire for someone working at a reception desk at a spa in Beverly Hills. Her attire is something I can ignore or forgive but her attitude was terrible and the whole picture was of someone who did not care. From the moment I came in she followed me to the bathroom after she gave me directions on how to get there which was a little uncomfortable but I thought maybe she just wanted to show me where it was and thought I'd get lost. During my massage she loudly talked on the phone which was disturbing as I was trying to relax. Then at the end of my visit after I paid the bill I wanted to tip Jon but only had a large bill. Even though there is a sign that tipping in cash is preferred, she had no change and was not very nice about it. She told me to get it from another vendor so I went outside and tried the restaurants and shops. One was just opening and the bartender hadn't arrived to open the register. Another shop was cashless. A restaurant down the street was closed and had already closed the register. Finally, I was able to get change from Starbucks. I wish the receptionist had told me to go there first instead of making me look up and down the street. When I mentioned there was a Starbucks nearby that had change after I wandered the street her response was "I know". Why she didn't tell me and left me to figure it out myself is beyond me. When I came back into the spa, the receptionist was gone even though I told her I'd be right back with change. I went in the back to find Jon. He wasn't there but she was. I told her I got change and asked where Jon was. She said to give the cash tip to her and I told her "no". Luckily Jon came in the back door at that moment and I personally handed him his tip. I wanted a receipt for my transaction at the spa. The receptionist was unable to print it out and tried multiple times. Then she asked for my e-mail address to e-mail it to me. She pressed each letter on the computer one by one with a single finger touching each key. I'm not sure if she knows how to type. I stood there a long time. The whole time she was very rude to me and when I left she didn't even say "good-bye" or "thank you for coming". She went back to looking at her phone. It was weird and unpleasant. So much for a relaxing day at the spa. I guess she was also in a hurry to leave her shift as I saw her go to Starbucks on my way back to the car. I hope they hire a new receptionist because it would make a big difference in the "spa experience". As I write this review, I have noted that there are other recent reviews that also mention the receptionist being rude. There's no excuse for this. The entire job of reception is to welcome and greet the customers. A spa experience should be a pleasant one. I hope to come here again as I liked my massage very much but hope they will replace the receptionist with someone who is pleasant. A spa experience should ease stress not end with it. read more

I had a disappointing experience. The music was too loud ( I asked to lower the music and the lady at the front WAS NOT accommodating) and not relaxing at all. One of the towels looked dirty, which made me uncomfortable. Most concerning, the neck massage was too rough--it actually hurt my neck, making my migraine worse and I ended up feeling so unwell afterward that I vomited. This place used to be such a treat to come to. It smelled like a spa, they would have a flower floating in the foot water. Now the place is run down and I had the worst massage I have ever had. I was actually counting down the minutes until it was over. The massage was choppy and not relaxing at all. It's in a prime location but you're put in a shared room of 6 beds while getting massaged- right along with all the people waiting and the front desk person. During my massage, I could hear phone calls and another customer complaining about how their massage was not what they paid for. I booked a 30 minute foot massage under the name "Cammie" on Weds, Aug 7 at 6:30pm by one of the male masseuses. I did not catch his name. The massage was not good, and left me feeling more frustrated than when I started. I told the front desk I wanted only my feet massaged but the masseuse ended up spending a good chunk of time on my legs and not nearly enough on my feet. The time he spent on my feet was not pleasant. I told him I had lots of tension in the balls of my feet and wanted strong pressure. Instead he spent a ton of time on my toes and mostly rubbed his knuckles and thumbs against the bottoms of my feet which was simultaneously painful and ticklish. Then he started from the top and did the same thing over again. I was expecting smooth, strong pressure on the balls, arches, and top of my feet to relieve the tension of a long, active workday. This was not it. It felt exactly like a massage you would get at a nail salon at the end of your pedicure- rushed and a little sloppy, lots of poking and prodding with no rhythm or technique. I flinched several times when it got painful, but he wasn't great about changing his approach. I calmly and quietly expressed my dissatisfaction with the front desk staff. She was friendly and said she could put me with a different masseuse next time, but offered no sort of discount. With a generous tip of $10 I paid a total of $50 and left feeling so angry. I understand this is not the receptionist's fault at all, but as a first-time customer I really don't appreciate being sent away with no discount or offer of any sort. If you want a new customer to return, you NEVER let them leave upset. read more

However, I unfortunately had a bad masseuse who left me in pain after my massage, and therefore, the counter lady offered me a discount ($30), which we AGREED to and I respectfully paid and signed for. I also paid for my wife in full ($60) as well as a generous tip ($22). Total bill $112.00 paid. My intention was to come back just avoiding this particular masseuse until Management (someone named Piran Zarifian) text messaged me threatening calling the Beverly Hills Police Department for the $30 discount that they gave to me. Are businesses allowed to do this? And harassing customers using their personal information from the POS system? Really? Probably the worst massage of my life. I came to LA on a medical trip. Decided to get a massage before my surgery. I am a person who gets weekly massages. This was by far the worst massage I've ever had and I've had horrible massages but this was the worst. Not once did he try to find any knots or tension. Nothing. It was literally him shaking my body by slapping my back the whole time. It felt like he couldn't move fast no matter how many times I kept asking him to slow down. Not once during that massage did I ever think to myself "this feels good." Not once. He never once used his thumbs but held his elbow in my lower back for thirty seconds and didn't move until I had to hit his arm away. He would dig his elbow into my shoulder blade repeatedly for a couple minutes at a time and wouldn't move from that spot. He didn't even touch my lower back until I had to ask him to focus on my lower back. This was the worst massage I've ever had. Once I left that place, I broke down in tears because I just spent 130 dollars on a massage that was in no way relaxing, not once did it feel good and it was absolutely horrible. read more

I never leave reviews but I had the worst massage I've ever experienced, and I feel like I need to warn others! The therapist didn't seem to have a clue what she was doing--just pushed on my back for over an hour. I tried telling her that I wanted an actual massage, but instead, she started punching and pinching my back. At one point, she was poking my cheeks, squeezing my head way too hard, and jabbing my temples. No matter how many times I tried to give her feedback, she just smiled and kept doing the same weird stuff. I left feeling way more sore than when I walked in! When I called to complain and see if I could get a partial refund, all they offered was to have me try a different therapist next time.
