My oh my talk about a great find!! This spa has everything you need in such a convenient weho location. I found The Humble Abode via Groupon because I'm a girl who loves a great deal. I booked a massage with Justin and WOW he was incredible, he listened to my requests and tended to my concerns with professionalism and great skill. I have had my share of massages and I had never experienced some of the techniques he performed, my body felt revitalized a good 2 days after Justin worked his magic!! Since I enjoyed the vibe so much I decided to book a facial. I recently have been wanting to focus on my skincare and I figured this would be a great way to start. I had the pleasure of booking with Naira after I heard raving reviews about her service I was super excited. Naira does not disappoint! She is so experienced and knowledgeable not only about skin but health in general. I have learned so many things about my skin and certain foods that I had no clue would negatively affect my skin. Well after purchasing a package of 6 microdermabrasion treatments my skin feels like butta!!! I have significantly less break outs and a new confidence with the skin I'm in. Thank You Naira!! Oh and before you leave be sure to check out the products sold at the front. I am obsessed with their Pore Minimizer by Ultraluxe. It can be used as a primer and it completely changes the outcome of my makeup. The pore minimizer makes the application so smooth and leaves your skin flawless while serving as a guard from harsh chemicals. Highly recommend trying this as well as the other eclectic finds in the shop. It's such a treat to come in and be greeted by Joan and Liz, they are such a delightful team and helpful in every way. I've been curious about this place in my neighborhood for a few years now because it looks so charming from the outside. Reviews are so good on here and on Groupon that I purchased a deal for a 40-minute massage as a trial run. I arrived with no time to spare and Lisa was already at the front to greet me and take me back right away. There were at least 1 or 2 people receiving a service (probably foot reflexology?) right there when I walked in which I thought was a bit awkward, out in the open like that. I was taken upstairs to one of the therapy rooms, and right off the bat, I didn't like the way it smelled. There was nothing bad or wrong, I just didn't like it. Lisa had me get on the table face-up, which I'm not used to. I primarily need work on my back so it always makes sense for me to start face-down. I wasn't given a choice, so I just went with it. When my massage therapist started on me, she hadn't confirmed that I wanted a Swedish (though thankfully she didn't try to upsell me on deep tissue or even a longer massage) and hadn't asked if I had any health issues or injuries she should know about (I do) or whether there were any areas I wanted to focus on or stay away from (there were). But I desperately needed to relax so I didn't say anything and again just went with it. While on my back, the massage was fine. I liked some of her compression techniques, which were new to me but effective (and preferable to thumbs, knuckles, fists, etc). But after I flipped over, I really did not expect my therapist to get on top of me--and not even ask first. I'm pretty sure she massaged my back with each of her feet at one point (alternating) and she definitely sat on top of me to open up my hips. I didn't really know what to say--you expect this sort of thing in a Thai massage or at an Asian spa, but here was a tall, full-grown woman sitting on my butt and pinning me down. I couldn't breathe. Fortunately, it didn't last long, but in retrospect it really seems like the kind of thing they should warn you about or ask permission to do. Maybe some people would consider all that a pleasant surprise, but it just wasn't my thing. The one thing I really liked was how the massage table is adjustable to move up and down. The smell, crystals, and small gifts are such a great option for love ones presents. The gentleman who gave me massage was so sweet, comforting, amazing hands, and knew just what I needed. Although I'm a woman, I felt immediately comfortable with him and had a nice conversation. He allowed to relax and let me be at peace throughout the entire process. I go every Saturday to my Pilates class with Amber at Humble Adobe she is the best trainer I ever met! I have serious back problems and even had a back surgery last year. Amber helps me to strengthen my core and having a normal life without pain, she is professional and knows how to listen to my needs. When I have extra painful week I go for a massage with Lisa. Boy this isn't a regular massage it's a real deep tissue massage so it's a bit painful but when I'm out I feel so much better - true therapy massage! Great place try it out! read more

Had a Groupon for a 40-minute massage and a deep cleansing facial ($89 for $180 value). Making an appointment over the phone was easy and quick. Parking (to my surprise) also was easy. The Humble Abode is located in a little shopping area and it somehow manages to feel like an enchanted forest in the middle of West Hollywood. Very cute. After a friendly and efficient check-in, I was taken upstairs for the treatments. Both technicians offered me an upsell option before we got started - telling me what could be added on for an additional small amount. Usually, this sort of thing would annoy me, but in this case it really didn't feel aggressive. Regardless, I was up-sold! Sabina did my massage and was patient with this stress case. Very relaxing. Nicky did my facial and obviously really knew what she was doing. I felt like a new person upon emerging from my candle scented treatment area. When checking out, some more selling happened - they offer packages at really discounted prices if you pre-pay for services. It's a good idea, but I was seriously too zoned out to think about all that. Humble Abode is a lovely place for some pampering for you, or a terrific idea for a gift certificate for someone you really really like! If you see a good deal for this place, I highly recommend you grab it. And even if you don't, this is worth checking out - their regular prices don't seem to be out of line with similar places in WeHo. read more

I came here for the Spa Week specials and I will totally be back. Mostly because I purchased two other procedures as I was leaving. It was that good. I had a massage with Leia and a facial with Joan. The massage was excellent. Just the right amount of pressure and her touch was perfect. I usually get deep tissue in an effort to work out tension and knots, but I really just wanted to relax and not have someone dig in and 'hurt me'. There's nothing pleasurable to me about having the knots soothed out by someone's elbow. Anyway, after explaining to Leia what I wanted, while still have a firm pressure, she gave me exactly what I needed and put me in that zone where you're just so relaxed and peaceful. At the same time, I could feel that she moved a lot in my body, so it was a great benefit. I will totally come back to see her and would recommend her. The facial with Joan was just okay. Her touch was very light, I don't feel like there was a lot of deep cleansing going on and she spent more time on the facial massage than anything else. I will say she did steam a lot and did a fair amount of extractions, but because she spent so much time on the massage, there was no time for a mask at the end. She also applied a scrub a second time after she did the extractions - which I found odd. She also needs to replace her scrub brush - I could feel the bristles that were frayed and ready to be retired. As a former aesthetician, I'm sorry to say she didn't come off as comfortable in her skill level. I could be totally off, but that was my take. My skin looks fine, but it wasn't anything that I couldn't have done at home. The receptionist couldn't have been any nicer - both on the phone and in person. She even fed my parking meter for me! I bought a 40 minute relaxation massage for $39 on groupon. Right away the masseusse offered me an upgrade to deep tissue for $20 extra, 20 minutes more for another $20, or $30 for both. I declined both offers but in retrospect probably should've gotten the deep tissue add-on. While the relaxation massage was nice, it was a bit too gentle, though she did briefly work out some upper back knots. My masseuse was very sweet and talked me through deep breathing while she worked out the knots. (In my experience most people just go for it with no warning!) The place itself is very soothing, a quaint homey feeling. Just walking through the leafy outdoor path into the place brings a nice charm. The rooms are cozy and warm. She offered me 3 scents to coat the room with- I chose spearmint. I loved that after massaging my back she covered it with warm towels, and also when she asked me to turn over, put my head on a warm toasty pillow.... so relaxing. read more

I came here last weekend to use my Travelzoo voucher for a 50-minute facial. The place is cute, with a very cottage-like feel. I came a bit early so they asked me to wait outside the the courtyard. I think my facialist was also running late as I didn't start my facial in time. The facial itself was good but nothing extraordinary. My facialist recommended that I get a chemical peel ($30 additional) which I hesitated to do due to a past horrible experience; however, this time it was fine. I think the only thing I would have wished for was some sort of head massage to go with it. My facialist seemed like she would flip back and forth from being friendly to slightly annoyed with some of my questions. Maybe she just had a different sense of humor that I didn't get. At the price I paid, I would maybe go back but at the regular price, I would probably opt to go to a nicer spa. read more

Had another massage at the Humble Abode a few days ago... this time with Kirsty. Wow, talk about magic hands, feet, and elbows. I've had a lot of massages and this one really hit all the spots. She performed a combination of traditional sports massage with ashiatsu bar work. She is very powerful so if you wanted to get one of those deep and painful massages my boyfriend is so fond of, then I am sure she could satisfy even the most masochistic patron. Afterward I had one of Nicky's signature pumpkin enzyme facials, which I've been hooked on since last spring. Aside from being extremely pleasant, Nicky is still unbelievably gentle but effective with the extractions, and I love all the little touches (comfy table, bolster for your legs if you want one, dimmed lighting, zen music, neck and scalp massage, etc). She even brushes the extra enzyme product on my hands so that I can keep them looking as fresh and youthful as my face. I am not the type of person to buy a lot of skin products, and Nicky has never tried to push any products on me which is REALLY nice. There is nothing worse than getting a lecture and pressure about how you need to buy this, this, and this at the end of a treatment. However, a few months ago my boyfriend developed this strange habit of sniffing my face on days when I'd had a facial with Nicky, and we discovered that he is really into the Sircuit Skin "Molecular Mist" that Nicky sprays on my face at the end of each treatment. I am now under strict orders to stay well stocked in the stuff, because my boyfriend does regular smell checks of my facial region and I can't bear the look of disappointment when he doesn't get his fix. Humble Abode is quaint, clean, and cozy. The staff is always friendly, but they also seem to be attuned to whether or not you are in the mood to have a massage/facial treatment in silence so you can just decompress, or if they should engage you a little conversation that day. If you're like me, sometimes you are feeling social, and other times you're just trying to escape any conversation/thinking whatsoever. Either way, they are extremely accommodating. read more

There is parking in the back, in the lot next to the alley, and you wander in through a tiny garden courtyard. The place is so cute, almost magical from the outside. The front desk receptionist was so nice and made me feel instantly comfortable. Joan performed my facial and did an amazing job. Not only was the entire experience wonderful, but its been about 5 days and my skin has never looked/felt better. Love this place! I booked facials for myself and a friend for spa week, and we're definitely coming back. I've been trying to find a reasonably-priced facial on the west side that didn't suck--a feat which proved to be more difficult than it sounds. Either the space was gaudy and/or chintzy or the facial itself was.... weird, if you know what I mean. Either way, it didn't make for a relaxing, indulgent experience. But just walking into the Humble Abode is relaxing. It's right on La Cienega, but the moment you head off the street and into the courtyard, the noise disappears. We were early and ended up waiting for a few minutes in the front desk area, whtich was fine. It seemed like the kind of place that would have a locker room lounge area with robes and tea and maybe a sauna or something, so I was surprised when there wasn't, but to be honest I never made much use of that stuff at other places anyway. But it made me wonder if I was in for another cheap, bare bones facial. I needn't have worried. The facial was as professional as I've ever gotten--dim lighting, relaxing music, all the usual suspects that you take for granted as part of a normal facial until they're missing. Nikki was excellent, chatty and friendly at the beginning, then professional when she got down to the nitty-gritty. She really knows what she's doing, and I walked out of there feeling amazing. I will definitely be back. In fact, they were offering $55 treatments if you paid before leaving and booked later, which I didn't take advantage of but now am sorta wishing I had (would've made a great Christmas present). Jeff gave me a spa pedicure that was the best pedi i've ever had in the entirety of my life. He is such a gem, and so are his amazing services! As a mom of a little baby boy, these moments of relaxation are so far and few between, that when I take time away for a less than great experience, it is so disappointing. NOT so, in this case. My feet felt like they were on Cloud 9, and Jeff was the perfect amount of being attentive, but not doting or uncomfortable. As an aside, I usually feel strange going into Vietnamese nail salons where I feel like they are pissed to work on someone who is part Asian. . . . . like they are more content to work on White girls. ; ) (This could all be in my head, but I don't think so.) Many people do not realize that the face along with cleansing, exfoliating, steaming, peeling, masking, moisturizing et al, also needs to be massaged. This treatment exemplifies the radiance& healthiness that a typical facial provides. My facial muscles were definitely replenished & revitalized. Of course it helps that Nikki is well versed in aesthetics, warm & personable. Humble is not a spa spa. It lacks dry & wet saunas, jacuzzi, locker rooms. Wow, I love Reflexology! Nicole is amazing. Reflexology is not just a foot massage. Nicole Rothman, a certified reflexologist, knows about holistic healing. After one session, my feet feel 10 pounds lighter and I feel totally rejuvenated. Every time I receive Nicole's session, her gentle, yet effective touch makes me doze off. I tried Humble Abode with a Bloomspot special for a facial. This spa is awesome, it looks like a little cottage hidden in a forest, off of La Cienega. Nicky is my esthetician. I've been going to her for the last couple months and it's always been a great experience. My skin always looks and feels great and it's super relaxing. I've also gotten massages from Liz. It's not your typical Swedish massage, she concentrates on very specific points of energy within the body. It can get pretty painful, but it's worth it because it helps with the issues. The owner works the front desk. She's lovely and always carries the best products. Pricey, but really good stuff. There's always fun little gifts and chocolates or cookies as well! There's also a pilates / yoga studio, a full service salon and meditation classes. This place is a sanctuary. read more

I've had massages from probably every therapist and they've been great. I would highly recommend them to anyone. What an awesome hidden gem!! I got the microdermabrasion facial for $50 (thanks, Spaweek!) Parking is metered - but I had no problem finding parking right in front. Humble Abode is located in the back of this cute little building on La Cienega (and Melrose, 1/2 block south). Such a CUUUUTE place! You walk in, and instantly feel this peaceful vibe. Keep in mind that this is in West Hollywood - which to me is NOT the least bit peaceful!! (in a good way of course, I'm just saying...) Anyway, Deirdre was my wonderful aesthecian. I have these little spider veins (hereditary - thanks Mom!) and she was very gentle and even recommended that I DON'T do the micro - and I listened. She gave me this wonderful facial - exfoliated, everything- and I had the pleasure of a 15 minute nap. :) I bought 2 more, that's how good it was! A+ for Humble Abode - services rock. Only reason for 4 stars (not 5) is there is no sauna or steam room. Bummer. But great for treatments. read more

Great central location- can get a massage and a facial after shopping at the Beverly Center or lunch at any of the trendy restaurants nearby. Friendly, low-key, no-pressure staff. I see Nicky for facials. She does a great massaging facial called a "deep tissue lift". You can see the difference immediately. Dr. Arlene Johnson is amazing! She is the best chiropractor I have ever been to. I always visit her when I am in town for business or pleasure. She has new hours though so be aware. Humble Abode feels like the kind of place your older Aunt owns in some out of the way town. 'Quaint' and 'rustic' come to mind; it's fine but not my style. I had a massage there and it wasn't great. The masseuse was friendly but her technique was lacking; there was no flow. It felt like a random series of pressing and moves that didn't match on both sides. It felt like the kind of massage that an untrained friend offers to do as a favor. You're thinking you can use a massage but they're not really helping ..... The massage room was also a bit run down. The prices are low and the location is very central and I'm sure that appeals to some people. It's not enough for me, though so I won't be going back. Salon Soleil is down the street - much better option for price, atmosphere and service. read more

I started going to Humble Abode to see Arlene Johnson....an amazing chirpractor. Then, I started taking Pilates classes there. Arlene works with the teachers on what to do to improve your posture, balance and strength. I started getting a massage from Lisa once a week and she is amazing as well. The best massages I have ever had. The staff is warm and caring. The place is inviting and comfy. I have never had so many great healers in one place. I would recommend the Humble Abode to all who want to improve their bodies and their skin....omg....Nicky! You have to get a facial from Nicky. And a scalp treatment from Liz. I love it when I find things in my own neighborhood I didn't know were there. This is a quiet, little gem I can walk to in five minutes. It's just north of the Beverly Center on La Cienega. Tranquil, soft, comfortable and quiet best describe it. From head to toe they can do it all. Haircut, massage, manicure, pedicure, chiropractor, pilates, yoga, everything. I met a few of the folks there and everyone was warm and the energy was great. I know where I'll want to spend my Saturday getting fixed up from my work week. Cute hidden place that I tried during Spa Week. Got a REALLY great 1-hour stress relief massage from William for $50!!! He unknotted my really tense shoulders and gave me helpful advice on what I can do at home when it gets bad which I thought was very thoughtful. I'd totally go back to William and definitely recommend him to everyone! The place isn't fancy (thus their name) but I found it to be a comfortable, freindly, relaxing retreat from the bustle of the city. So if you want a decent massage at a great price, check them out soon! They are doing a special during Spa Week where you can pre-pay for additional $50 Spa Week treatments that are good until Feb 1st which is a steal!!! After getting that great massage, I pre-paid for 3 more treatments and I'm looking forward to trying their facials too. read more
