Great food. I've been to the other one in town. This is more of a counter service/market with a few tables and good music playing. It's not fancy at all, but that's not a bad thing either. We had grilled pork bahn mi, grilled chicken vermicelli bowl and a grilled pork spring roll. The cashier was nice and got us cups of ice to go with our water. The vermicelli bowl was our favorite-traces of mint, cilantro, chicken, noodles cucumber with a sweet sauce and occasional crunch of peanuts. I enjoyed the spring rolls and the peanut dipping sauce is so good you want to lick the bowl clean. Bahn mi was good. Lots of meat in it. We also enjoyed buying a hot sauce and ramen from the store. I've been wanting to try Bao in P'ville, and I finally did! No disappointment here! Very friendly service, good value ($11-$15 per entree), and fresh food are all here! They also have an Asian market! The food was flavorful and there was plenty of meat (including seafood) included in each dish. I really liked the egg rolls. So crispy and flavorful! I was out running errands and saw this place from the main road. I went in and was delighted to see a wide selection of boba teas. I ordered the mango tea and added the mango popping boba and some lychee and mango jelly. I absolutely loved it. It was prepared quickly and I was able to browse the market while waiting. I like the menu items I ordered, it was good in all aspects. The combination pho I ordered had pretty much everything in it; meat ball, soft ligaments, intestines, as well as tripe and thin meats. This market/deli place is the best combo for buying Asian products and authentic food/boba tea in my local area. I really think this is the first of its kind in our local area of Ascension! They have a variety of dry goods, sweets, frozen and fresh produce but also you can order and eat homemade Vietnamese food too! They just opened up so they only have two tables to eat but I'm sure once the word is out that they will expand. Not sure if this restaurant is a branch of Bao on Perkins Rd ( I think it is) but the food is great. I am a creature of habit so I usually get Bao egg rolls and the chicken rice plate with a fried egg. The Bao egg rolls come with a sweet chili sauce that takes it to a different level. I love the rice places, which included rice, Vietnamese salad and your choice of protein. I add a fried egg and most often ask for it to be fried hard because it's typically fried with a runny yolk. If i don't call ahead to order, I spend time browsing the isles of the market that is attached. There are a lot of additional options in the market from candy to fresh vegetables and meats. This is definitely a weekly/ monthly lunch stop. read more

What can I say about this place? I was eyeballing it before it even opened. When I inquired if they would have boba tea and they said YES.........the hearts started beaming from my eyes. Now that they have opened, I am there on atleast a weekly basis to get my tea fix...(if not every other day...). Their Banh Mi is freakin amazing. I always get the Vietnamese BBQ pork and it is just divine. It is like opening up a box of pringles, once you start you just cant stop. It just gets better with every bite. The pho is also awesome. As far as that goes, I have had the brisket and it was so good. I ordered it to go and all the ingredients are separated and you whip it up when you get home. It is very satisfying and makes you feel all warm and cozy inside like a hot home cooked meal. If you can't tell, I am very happy to have a place so close to home that has a variety of foods to shop for, has my Thai tea, and has great food.
