The Shrimp Poboy was Amazing... when it 1st opened, I'm not sure now. (?) The "ambiance" used to be too too silent & awkward for dining in.

I ordered here for lunch for the first time. I did not know it was around the corner from my job. I ordered a crawfish Poboy with fries and a muffuletta with fried mushroom.. Little place hidden in this area with little sign, but was able to find it. Nice place and the food was simple looking but with great taste. I was able to scarf down the 'large' roast beef sandwich. It had light but crispy and flat, toasted bread. I was done with the sandwich quickly but still felt hungry, so I ordered 1/2 of Jazz special. It was good, but it tasted pretty much same as the roast beef and didn't have much meat in it as the menu claims. Overall, Jazz po-boy is pretty good place with good po-boy but I would not go back as I would need 2 orders to full. I just didn't get the satisfaction with $10 sandwiches. Oh well, but there's much more enjoyable po-boys elsewhere. read more

Horrible!!!!!! I was completely ignored by the older lady at the counter, the food was horrible!!! I regret even stepping foot in the door!!!! Two thin poboys with less sausage than a small breakfast. An entire to go plate of onion rings to make up for this lack luster sandwich. And $26.66 was the highway robbery total. Been eating here occasionally for 10 yrs. Original owner Mr Jerry would've been embarrassed to have this sandwich served in his place. No tomato though I was told it was included, some lettuce was old & wilted, but main issue was the minuscule amount of ham & roast beef. Didn't come close to covering bread w/meat & was only 1 layer where there was meat. $8.75sandwich w/ less than $1 of shaved meats. I had a serious hankering for a shrimp po-boy tonight. We went to Jazz Daddy's because it is close to our house and has a good reputation. It didn't disappoint. My sandwich was soooo good. My husband had the Jazz Daddy sandwich, which is his fave and he loved it. We had onion rings too (don't judge us) and they were very good. The food was fresh and hot and seasoned to perfection. I was so excited to try this neighborhood spot, but left disappointed. The waiter was extremely nice and welcoming, but the food was mediocre at best. We visited on a Friday evening and ordered the shrimp poboy and burger. Both were served on paper plates, which is not the end of the world, but unexpected. The poboy was tiny. We also ordered tots with cheese -- quality was about what you can expect making it at home. My hubby ordered the soup, which unfortunately lacked flavor. The atmosphere was cozy. I really wanted to like this place and always look for a good hole in the wall, but it missed the mark big time and I probably won't return. read more

Purchased 2 fried shrimp poboys this evening. It was a phone in order. The poboys were ready when I arrived - that was outstanding. The poboys were tastey and filling but were skimpy with the shrimp. I failed to ask where the shrimp come from - typically I usually ask since I try to insist on shrimp from U.S. waters. Would I order shrimp poboys from there again? Probably not. read more

Mmm, Louisiana flavor at its best! This restaurant features some of the best Poboys around, and just about everything on the menu, especially the "Jazz Daddy's Special," is excellent. I always get a plain (bread and meat) Roast Beef Poboy with gravy/French Dip and a side order of Mozzarella Sticks. The food here is reasonably priced, if not a bit on the expensive side, and refills here are complimentary. The food is ready really fast, and I've never had an incorrect order. The owner works behind the corner and is extremely personable, and he will surely remember your usual order if you come here enough. Jazz Daddy's is about as good as it gets for poboys in Baton Rouge. read more

Ordered a work lunch from Jazz Daddy's and had it delivered by Waitr. Just a geat job. Everyone enjoyed their food. Poboys were great, awesome ingredients and the bread was very fresh. I placed the order right before they closed and received a call back to confirm which I've never had happened using Waitr so that was very impressive. The lady told me they didn't have any crawfish available for a salad that I ordered but she would source it locally so the order can be filled. Ordered the small catfish po boy and the fried mushrooms. Could have had a tad bit more lettuce for more liking on the sandwich but the mushrooms were delicious. I really like Jazz Daddy's. It is in a rather elusive spot, and those traveling southbound on Jefferson Highway may miss it as the shopping center faces the other direction. Their best item is easily the shrimp poboy--I am not exactly sure how they cook the shrimp, but they are not greasy or full of batter. It is as if they boil the shrimp first and then dust them with a little batter. Regardless of how they cook it--it works well (maybe a little too well)! Jazz Daddy's doesn't really offer anything you cannot get at another Louisiana sit-down restaurant or sandwich shop, but they do an excellent job with the items they have. It doesn't get a lot of business (at least in the evening), but it seems to do well enough with takeouts and, perhaps, at lunch to survive. read more
