Been wanting to try this place since it's a newer spot in the neighborhood. I wanted something spicy to help coat with my throat. I thought of what better than to have was some spicy broth. Jennifer was a sweetheart. He was so nice and patient with me while deciding on what to order. She took the time to answer my questions. She smiled. Hsssss, I'm a little perturbed and unsettled with pho viet. My wife and I visited pho viet on weds, September 3 at about 3:30. We ordered the bang bang shrimp, (great), shrimp fried rice(great), lettuce chicken wrap(not again)and the shrimp wrap appetizer (done!). What got me mostly was the appetizer. On Thursday, sept 4, went to eat the left overs and discovered the shrimp in the shrimp wraps had bees cut in half(sliced down the middle and included in the wrap. Totally classless, we won't be back. We enjoy eating out regularly. Problem is, give us what we pay for. This is why I never like to venture out from my favorite restaurants who never fails. This place has been open for a few months and near me so I decided to try it out finally. I will be honest that the pho was not even close for me personally. It lacked flavor and the brisket was meh. This is after adding hoisin sauce. The wings with their special sauce were good but the sliders were the biggest winner of the night. They had a special pack of flavor in them that stuck out. This was my first time here, and it was on pointe! Pho Viet Noodle House makes it into my top 3 choices for pho. I had the Beef Pho and Spring Rolls. Superbly fresh tasting and flavor. I particularly liked the peanut sauce with the shrimp spring rolls. They were perfect. The Beef Pho was equally perfect. Simple enough to say, I have no complaints or criticisms. They use all metal silverware and dinnerware for serving, even the drinkware, which I enjoyed, as it preserved the temperature of the tea as well as the hot pho. Everything tasted fresh - I got to watch mine made with the kitchen pouring the hot broth into my bowl. Good atmosphere; fun to sit at the long run bar and the tables looked nice as well. Went back for lunch today. Ordered vermicelli bowl, the proteins were abundant. The nuoc mam (sauce) was not good. It was too sweet and missing the fish sauce and garlic flavor. Had to add more fish sauce to it. The bang bang shrimp had nice flavor and was good. The Vietnamese coffee is very thick and creamy if u like creamy coffee. Close to Tanger Outlet so it's a win win for me! The pho only comes in one size and the price is steep for the portion you get. Brand-new Pho restaurant right on Hwy 30 in Gonzales. I have been SO excited for this to open! Went and checked it out on my lunch break today. They have some outdoor seating, which was packed when I arrived. Indoors was pretty busy too. It was a little confusing inside near the counter as there were many people standing around, but it didn't take me long to figure out they were likely waiting on "to go" orders. It did take a few minutes for someone to get back to the register, but I was acknowledged pretty quickly and they let me know they'd be right with me. I ordered the pork egg rolls as an appetizer and the rare steak pho. There is an extensive specialty drink menu, but I opted for unsweet iced tea. My total with tip was around $33, which is pricey for a single lunch BUT I expected it since I'd ordered an appetizer as well. The cashier said to have a seat and they'd bring everything to me. There is a long bar along one side of the restaurant, which is great for single diners like myself at lunch. The balance of the seating was a mixture of different table sizes. All were full. I took a seat at the bar. While there, at least 3 different people came to check on me. My iced tea came first. Then, the egg rolls came out super fast! The egg rolls were hot, crispy, and filled with a delicious mixture of pork and veggies. The rolls were served with pickled veggies on the side - I loved those, too! The sweet chili sauce was pretty standard, but I was glad to have it. Overall, I definitely expect I'll order this again. The pho came out shortly thereafter. Have to say, I loved the presentation and the bowl of pho was HUGE! The server brought another iced tea and a bottle of sriracha and hoisin. The toppings were the same as I'm used to: fresh bean sprouts, Thai basil, a lime wedge, and a couple of fresh slices of jalapeño. There were also some pickled onions, very thinly sliced. They were delicious. I threw all of that in and gave the broth a taste. Man - SO GOOD. I love when the star anise comes through. It really did. I've heard that the owners are the same as the ones from Bao, and after trying the broth, that would make sense to me. It's very similar as theirs, which is great because I'm a fan of their pho. Overall, fantastic, filling lunch that I probably shouldn't splurge on every week, but when that cold weather comes, you'll likely find me there weekly anyway. Definitely give this place a try. Got pork Bahn mi Wow!! I was worried because I'm finicky about my pork. It was great. The seasoning on it popped. Also shared pork spring roll. This was the same pork so that was good. I thought the wrap was kinda "thick". The ends where folded were hard to get through but I think thats a personal preference. Both visits had a full house. The restaurant seems like an average noodle house when you first look at it, but once you step in the place you'll find an insanely chill vibe with great music and decor. It's like a calm club atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious and I was very pleased to find a veggie option that wasn't just broth and noodles, but was filled with actual veggies in full range from other than just greens. And side note: they serve boba! Along with the vibey energy, the servers down to earth personalities really put it all together. I took a date to this restaurant after it moved across the street from its initial location where I think it was called bamboo hut, and I felt it had gone down a bit since it moved across the highway and the owners opened two more locations, just as Covid was hitting, and the grocery shortages were beginning to kick in. I also did not like the goofy robots that were serving beverages, but maybe that's me just being old-school. I knew exactly what I wanted, which was meaty eggrolls, on pork vermicelli with lots of herbs and veg, a nice broth, and a side of fish sauce, with pickled carrots that you use as a condiment. I had met a waitress that worked there before at a different club, and I specifically asked to be seated in her area, but the hostess ignored that request, and we ended up sitting on a small table that was right next to an busy aisle that was only a few feet away from the entrance to the restrooms and the kitchen. In hopes that they were just having a bad night, I took the same lady there again a couple of months later, and ordered the same thing. If anything, it was not even as good as what I had the first time I went there. Now that I live in Louisiana, I am a little disappointed that it is hard to find good Chinese food, and I am yet to see any Vietnamese restaurant, even though I know that on the east side of New Orleans, there is a Vietnamese community of fishermen and many good Vietnamese restaurants, including some that have dim sum. I guess that's the trade-off for getting such good seafood just about everywhere you turn. When crawfish are in season, they even sold well-seasoned crawfish by the pound, still hot out of the boiler at every little local grocery store in the area. Now the same locations are offering boiled crabs and beautiful white shrimp. But I digress. In conclusion, my opinion is that Simply Pho is a shadow of its former self. The menu is not even "simply pho," as there are many other available choices. Would I go there again? Maybe, but it wouldn't be very high on my list of restaurants even in Austin Texas. read more

And Pho is hot. Not a good combo. We ordered spring rolls and bang bang shrimp apps. Both were small but very good. We ordered Vietnamese sliders and they were pretty good too. We ordered a kids beef pho and an adult beef pho and a chicken pho. None of us enjoyed our meals and the meat was rubbery and not that flavorful. Maybe Pho just isn't our thing but the beef pho had kind of a licorice flavor spice that none of us enjoyed. To top it off the power went out making it unbearable to stay. Nothing the business could do about that it was just an unfortunate series of events...air conditioner broken, hot restaurant, not great food, rubbery meat and then the power went out. The place is easy to get to and it is close by. Inside the store is not very big and filled up quickly. We ordered our standard items and all tasted good. The egg roll seems to only have meat and no clear noodles, etc. still tasted good though. The Pho soup was good but not on par with the best I had and not the cheapest place either. I've gotten food from here twice now and have enjoyed everything both times. My first visit was through the drive thru where I had absolutely no idea what I was doing or how a drive thru pho place worked. They were very sweet, took my order, and told me to come back through in 10 minutes to pick it up. The second time I visited was on Friday 10/13 after work and this time I decided to dine in. The inside is so cute, the service was great, and again, the food was great. Both times I ordered the plain noodle pho (I don't do the meats in it--I'm weird), and had the egg rolls with their spicy, sweet Thai sauce. Their pho broths have healing powers, I swear. My tastebuds were in Heaven. I also ordered a taro Thai tea with boba and loved it too. The presentation of the food when dining in is so nice. I love all the trays and stainless steel serve ware. So swanky! I was told by the lady on side of me that the shrimp tacos are divine so I'm assuming I'll have to try those next!
