The staff all moved quickly and with purpose to get my husband out of pain and discomfort as soon as we got there. They checked in on us frequently and gave us updates, medicine, information - as it was needed. They really cared for us and that made such a difference. We didn't expect much from an ER, but we were very happy and thankful we went to this one and had the staff we had. The security team also was incredible. After a difficult day, our truck battery actually died and I ended up panicking because all my husband wanted was to go home. The security team showed right up with solutions, a jumper cable system and lots of information to help me get through it all. They were such a blessing and a godsend. Thank you to Nurse Kris, Dr Kim, and the security team that night. I didn't catch their names but they deserve recognition and a big thank you - for everything

She said no, I'm going to give you morphine. I immediately said no I am allergic, I get bad hives that start in my nose. She said you will be fine I will give you a benadryl back. My boyfriend even said no loudly but she did it anyway. Then, your hospital staff had EMS take me to their sister hospital in downtown Louisville instead of asking me where I wanted since it is me paying the bill. I wanted to go to Norton. EMS stated it was your choice to send me there. I advised not to take me downtown to please take me to Noryon Brownsboro. I argued for the entire ride to their choice. I have contacted 2 attorneys, and have been told there is no malpractice case. This is where I am confused, how can a physician, pharmacist and a nurse give me a medication I am allergic to and it be ok. Katie Southern

Some healthcare settings are an automatic blood pressure raising experience from the start with the registration experience. This place is not so. I had a gentleman call me the day before my scheduled procedure and handle the majority of the preregistration over the phone. He politely advised me all that was left to do was show up at the correct time with my picture id, my insurance card, and my designated driver. DONE, 5 stars for admissions/registration After finishing with registration I walked into the next private office where the tech completed my day of procedure blood work. I can be difficult for a tech to find a vein to draw blood from so I always warn them not to worry if it takes several tries. WOW, this tech actually got it on the first try and within 5 minutes I was totally finished with labs. DONE, 5 stars for lab work I was then escorted to the correct side of the large waiting room to be called back for Prep. Two - three minutes and the nurse arrived to escort me back for surgical prep. She told my husband after I was prepped someone would come out to get him. The Prep nurses were polite, efficient, friendly and calming. One nurse recapped all my medications and allergies to make sure paperwork was complete and correct. The other nurse took all my vitals (blood pressure, temperature, etc.) They advised me I was next up for the doctor but that they would bring my husband back until it was my turn. DONE, 5 stars again It's my turn for the Cardiac Cath lab. The nurse walks me over and at the same time walks my husband to the waiting room. The nurses in the Cath lab all knew their jobs and were efficient yet friendly. My cardiologist arrived on the scene and the cath was done. After the procedure my husband was escorted into the room so the doctor could review the results with both of us together. DONE, PLUS GOOD NEWS, a definite 5 star experience. Then it was off to recovery. The nursing staff In this area obviously all like their jobs. In the hours it took to go through the recovery process they were caring, social and distinguished professionals. The three hours that require different stages in recovery all breezed past. I was given clear written discharge papers, my husband was sent to the garage for our car and I was wheeled out to meet him in front of the Rudd Heart & Lung Center. 5 stars Not that I want to frequent medical facilities, I would be treated here without hesitation if there was a need .

The next morning, I decided to have it evaluated. I heard Jewish had plastic surgeons on standby, so we drove down on a Saturday morning around 10 am. We were greeted and given papers to fill out while they copied insurance information. No more than 5 minutes later, I was called into triage. I hadn't even finished paperwork! From there, I was led back to a room where I saw a nurse immediately. Followed behind her was a very personable ER doctor who explained why lacerations are best treated earlier, but he went right to work on my injury. He talked thoroughly about wound care and after care for scarring. The nurses then fashioned a less than obvious cover for it. My husband and I could not believe how quick and thorough the process was. I'm healing well and still am amazed how thorough they run the ER at Jewish. I don't look forward to a future visit, but it will definitely be here!

In the spring of 2015 I had my first child in this hospital. I started having contractions a week…read morebefore my due date. I had contractions for almost 12 hours, progressively getting more & more painful, but was told I could not have any pain medication until it was approved by my doctor. I can understand this, however I believe there should be some way a doctor in the hospital can overrule this, as no one should have to suffer through pain for 12 hours waiting on their doctor, as mine was apparently on vacation. As the hours passed, I start having complications & was taken into surgery for an emergency c-section. There was infection in the amniotic fluid so my son had to stay on a week long antibiotic in the hospital's NICU. I cannot thank all the nurses in the NICU who took such amazing care of my son while I healed, & helped me learn to take care of him, as I had never really had any experience with babies before. The only real problem I had was with a young nurse in the NICU. I was trying to breastfeed my son, but as I had went into labor a week before my due date, I had not started lactating & was still having trouble with my body producing any breast milk at all. This nurse told me I had to pump constantly & if I really wanted to breastfeed him I had to stick to it. Her tone and the way she said things made me feel as if she were implying I did not really want to & that it was my fault I could not produce breast milk. As a new mother with my child taken away from me into the NICU, I took this to heart and was devastated by it. My boyfriend spoke to another nurse about the situation and the girl I had the incident with did come and apologize to me. I just feel like these nurses should be trained in any situation and how to talk to people during these times as to not upset someone having a hard time. I was in tears. The only other problem I had was with a male nurse who came in one morning to draw blood. This was near the end of my stay so I had been poked with so many needles by this point. The arm he was attempting to draw blood from was already incredibly bruised up & sore. I proceeded to tell him this before he inserted the needle assuming he would stop & choose a different spot to draw blood from. I supposed I should not have assumed & been more straightforward since he continued to try drawing blood from the same spot. What a surprise, he could not get anything & had to switch to another spot anyway. Maybe not so much of a problem with the hospital, but just this one nurse, as all the others I had were very quick & so good at their job that I barely felt any pain from the needles. All in all, my stay was not perfect. I just had a baby, it's not like I was expecting a comforting retreat, so I was not expecting perfect or anything of the sort. However, again, I cannot thank the amazing ladies in the NICU who took care of my son when I could not. They also gave me so much information on how to take care of him & were there for any questions or concerns I had. This hospital's NICU is an amazing asset & really cares about their patients. They hold yearly reunions for NICU babies as well, which is amazing.
