I…read morewas a little annoyed that they scheduled her appointment on the other side of the downtown area when I saw there was an office on Southside which is where we live. So instead of a 4-mile drive in traffic, it was a 12 mile drive in traffic. However, this does not take away from their 5-Star rating because it wasn't the fault of Optimal Imaging. In addition, driving in Jacksonville traffic is no where near as bad as driving in D.C. traffic! The parking area is small and when we arrived there were only three spaces available, I took one and an elderly lady took two! Lol. I'm laughing now but if it were me looking for that last parking space, I would have been livid because now I would have to find street parking. :-/ When we walked in I heard the front desk person tell someone that they were cutting down trees in the back so the parking was limited today. The lobby is very clean and they have a free coffee machine area. They have both light and bold coffee options as well as green tea pods. They even have flavored creamer. Nice! And something I don't often see in the lobby of a "medical-type" facility is a Coca-Cola frig with of course, Coke products and Dasani bottled water, all for free. They also have separate Women and Men bathroom. The front desk personnel was very friendly, professional and checked us in immediately. As soon as we finished filling out the paperwork they called my mom to the back for her MRI.

These delays created unnecessary anxiety and concern that my health could be affected by waiting. Communication and support during the process were poor. Patients deserve clearer explanations and faster handling when health decisions are involved.

Since it was an early appointment and we had trouble finding them we were not able to stop for coffee, when I asked if there was any where near by I could grab a cup of coffee the sweet lady at checkin (wish I had her name) offered to make a pot!!!! I told her I was ok with making a quick drive down the road, she said she was ok it make a pot. When she came out with the coffee, she also brought creamer and sweetener !!! To some people it may not seem like a lot, but helping us to find where they were and a great cup of coffee made my day !!! Customer service here is top !!!!

This was the first time using Akumin! I had to get an Echocardiogram today. Because I have a CDL…read more(commercial drivers license) and had heart surgery I have to have an Echocardiogram and Stress Test every two years. I'm able to alternate the test so this year it was the Echo. I did all the necessary paperwork online. Did the checkin process online and downloaded all the required documents and insurance information prior to arrival. I arrived at 10:30am and signed in and waited to be called back. About 10 minutes later they called me back for my procedure. I was completely done and leaving the facility at 11:05am. Everyone at the front desk was very friendly! The technician that did my echocardiogram procedure was very friendly and talked to me about my procedure. Everything was nice and updated and clean. The only thing I noticed was the restroom was messy but I think someone just came out "with issues lol". Definitely recommend Akumin and glad I came today. Will definitely not be worried next year when I come back for my stress test!

While getting an MRI isn't the most fun experience especially if you're claustrophoic, they do a great job of making you feel comfortable. I'd recommend them to anyone.
