Fell off hard after the ownership changed, menu is trying to be quirky but it's actually just painfully unfunny (Fried pickles=DILF, Noods=Pasta, etc) . They've removed a lot of favorites that made them stand out against other restaurants in town (Bahn mi, steak avo wrap, wraps in general). They used to have a fun seasonal drink menu but now it's just pricey classics and even pricier changes to classics. Someone in the kitchen found out bacon jam exists so now it's just thrown into anything, the fries used to be so good and then they changed them 3 times and landed on frozen shoestring fries with a dusting of seasoning salt. Service is always good, pretzel is good, ambiance is perfect but I just know that most of that has to do with the good people in Bemidji and the previous brother that left. 2 meals, 2 drinks, and an appetizer shouldn't cost over $100 unless it's the best food and drinks but unfortunately that's just not the case. I hope 209 can find a way to be the best restaurant in Bemidji again but unfortunately I don't see that happening until some major changes happen. Old owner went up to TRC so I might have to give them a try next, otherwise there are plenty of options downtown that are cheaper and better in every way. read more

My experience at Bar 209 was overall okay, with a few highlights worth mentioning. The service was amazing, friendly, quick, and really made the visit better. I ordered the portobello mushroom burger, which was just okay. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't come with any lettuce or tomatoes, which would have added some freshness. The drinks were good and the happy hour menu is solid, with a nice range of choices for a casual night out. The real standout was the pizza cookie, warm, gooey, and absolutely delicious. If you're looking for good service, tasty drinks, and a fun happy hour spot, Bar 209 is worth checking out. Just know that some menu items could use a bit more care. They had GREAT food there and the servers were so friendly and checked on us often. It was my daughters 14th bday and they came out with dessert singing and just made her day. Great crew, very clean restaurant! We will definitely be back soon. read more

The new area has a really great ambiance. The burgers are great. The poutine was way to salty but they were willing to listen and said they'd try to balance it more next time. The waitstaff are all very friendly. read more
