We found the Vermont Marketplace & Bar 580 on our way out of town, a mix of shops all in one big space. It was a Monday 3:45pm hard to find many shops open in Brattleboro, or this area. We did stop at The Marina to eat but stood at the host desk waiting for someone to greet us for 10 minutes and we just kept being ignored by servers walking thru so we decided to walk out of The Marina and keep going. (Note to self, make Mondays in Vermont for driving, or nature, & less to-do activities). At Bar 580 a really friendly bartender/server made for a very welcoming experience. Sorry I didn't catch his name. The menu had a lot of burgers and sandwiches and salads. We had a tasty Ruben sandwich, great fries and a bowl of 580 Mac n cheese (with bits of diced jalapeño pepper and creamy local Grafton cheddar cheese! This was great tasting casual dining. For fun we enjoyed playing billiards on the 2 smaller tables up front. The sun-streaming & huge outdoor space on the back patio looked inviting, facing the woods and a fire pit. (but I request better seating other than only the picnic tables please) Thanks again to the Monday afternoon bartender for the friendly Vermont hospitality! Bartender Matt has terrible judgment, allows people to fall off stools and stumble. Yet will not serve out of town people that are sober. Great bar outside of the night he is there. Best of luck. read more

We've been here a number of times and always enjoyed it. They've really done a nice job refurbishing the building inside and out. This establishment is no exception. Nicely done inside and the outside seating area as well. Every time we've been here, the service has been really friendly. We tend to pop in for an app and a beverage or two. Our go to are the pretzels which are always tasty! We came here with our nephew once and had the pretzels along with the hand cut fries. He devoured the fries! Last time, we had the (you guessed it!) pretzels and the chili. The chili was awesome! Great flavor. Another point worth mentioning; the draft been here is cold really cold! And I like a cold beer, so that's a big plus in my book. We met the gentleman who runs the business and he was really friendly. He indicated they may have more dining options in the future as there are multiple kitchens in there. He also said there may be some outdoor activities (cornhole, fire pit etc) during the warmer months. Really worth a stop! Again, friendly staff and good food. Nice new tavern. Plenty of space indoors and out and we saw a spot inside for live music. Popped in on a Monday as we were passing through town. Decent menu selection and tons of brews! We had salads for lunch and they were ginormous! Good thing they were yummy. Service was friendly. We hope this business grows. read more

Cute place featuring a large bar in the center with a few outlet eating options to order food and bring it to the bar or table. Shops inside and super clean bathrooms (that's big for me!) We got our food from the Bar 580 outlet. Large portions, good stuff but nothing really special, except the bread on the BLT, lol. This was the worst dining experience of my life. I came in with a larger group so it's not unusual for things to take longer but it took 25 minutes before we were served drinks and an additional 40 minutes for the food. When the food finally came out, two people did not have food ready. The one star is for our waiter. It was his first time and he was very respectful, apologized for the terrible service and poorly run kitchen. He ended up giving us a discount as well. Give that man a raise or let him run the place. The food here is overpriced and below average bar food. We all ordered burgers, with some people getting over done meat and others getting medium rare, no consistency at all. The worst part of our experience was being served a bag of potato chips as the "fries" that was included with our meal, and then told afterwords that the kitchen ran out of food. This was something that could've been comped or substituted in advance. Instead we got a 50 cent bag of potato chips. The western burger I ordered was a burger with generic bbq sauce and cheap bacon slices. Save your money and go to McDonalds because this is a joke. See photos for reference. Heard they had Latin food, and I went during regularly posted business hours, I was really looking forward to trying their Pernil. The Latin food cafeteria style window was shuttered and I asked the bartender who said that the Latin restaurant left and they are thinking on bringing in pizza, which is what they failed at before. I've eaten there quite a few times and like both the food and variety offered. Prices are moderate to a little above but the portions are large. Nice casual place to stop for a meal. They have music on the weekends but I've not stopped there when there's been a band. I'd definitely recommend the place. read more

I would give 3.5 if I could. The inside was really nice! Thought definitely it went in to overall atmosphere. I appreciated the cafeteria-type wall of food, we only got to see one of the restaurants open, the scratch kitchen, but I bet it's great when there are more options! The food ended up being pretty good, it wasn't exceptional if I'm being honest, definitely didn't do anything memorable. But it most certainly wasn't bad! The fries were a little salty and we wanted no chili and got chili anyway so that was whatever. The nachos were tasty but the bottom layer of chips were just kind of empty/undressed, which tends to happen I guess, but for $21 you would hope that they'd layer them all through. The waitress/bar tender was friendly and she was definitely hustling, but the place was borderline packed and she was all by herself at a HUGE bar, and the tables around the room too. So I felt kinda bad for her. We only ended up getting one drink because she was so busy she never came back, and it took a while to get our bill for the same reason. I don't blame her, but it was still disappointing. I'd probably come back if I was in the area but I don't know that I'd go out of my way again any time soon. read more

The worst bar experience I've had by far. Bouncer pushed me downand demanded i show my ID. I'm on crutches because my leg is broken. Like wtf baldy? The musicians audio mixing was absolutely poor and far too loud for the 12 people sitting in that cavernous space. Couldn't even think or hear anything other than the bass gituar which was taking over the rest of the poor band. Tried to get service at the bar but couldn't be heard over the aforementioned sound stage equipment that was most likely provided to the band by the bar. Ew. If I could rate this any lower I would. read more

We won a gift certificate here and we're excited to try the "new" place in town. We were told to self seat and that someone would be over to take our order. About 10-15 mins later someone came. She was very friendly and got our order correct but it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. The food was very good and the portion was large, especially for the cost - but service was horrible. I would have given it a lower rating for that alone, but the food was delicious. The staff should look around and help serve others that are not seated at the bar. read more

Relaxing friendly set up with tables and large bar. Pool tables in the back. Sometimes there is live music. The sleeper is a fantastic steak dinner that rivals the steak houses with crispy potatoes and broccolini. Wash it down with a Jack and Coke, and who could ask for more? read more

It may have been a great place once upon a time but I had a very bad experience last night. At about 9:00pm We sat at the bar. It was a mess. Crumbs and wet. When someone finally noticed us, she wiped down the bar handed us menus and walked away. We waited another 10 minutes for to come back just to have us tell her we only wanted drinks. Then the bartender took our orders 1 at a time. She made my friends drink, then came back to ask what I wanted. Obviously, they need much better training. Why would a Shirley Temple cost $3.66 when paying with cash and $5.55 when paid with a debit card? And since when is a Shirley Temple $5.55 anyway? The music was so loud you couldn't even hear yourself think let alone have a conversation! Good thing they weren't busy! And the manners of these 2 bartenders? Rude! And When we left there was a creepy man in the parking lot looking into everyone's cars. I won't go back until this improves!! I do not recommend going there. Good food. We had a huge cobb salad, toasted cheese sandwich with tomato and bacon, cowboy burger and wings. All were tasty and satisfying. Vermont craft beer was also really good. Easy on and off exit one. Really nice covered patio. It too busy and fast service. Enjoyable lunch stop. read more

My wife and I came in to have dinner and were greeted by the kindest gentleman who walked us to our table and suggested things that they have that we could try. we had the Cowboy burger and steak and cheese sandwich and it was fantastic!! Totally recommend eating there!! read more
