Great ambience and service. Bar seating is first come first serve. The bartenders were so friendly and it was a joy sitting at the bar! Equally great place to bring a date or come with friends. If you want to snag a table, would recommend making a reservation in advance. There's also plenty of seating outside on the patio. Food menu is small, but everything is delicious. This bar is still relatively new and it honestly showed. Nothing outwardly bad about the experience and the view was pretty great especially at sunset and night, but the whole experience was a bit disorganized. We had in reservations for an inside table, but it felt like a scene out of Goodfellas as we went through three separate host/hostess check points before being brought to our table. Then it was a bit slow as the staff seemed to be adjusting to the new space/service. This all being said, the interior lived up to the hype and the dark blue/light wood made for a fun atmosphere. The bar itself dripped mid-century modern and had a complementary atmosphere to le crocodile downstairs. Definitely worth a trip back For the nitty-gritty of the review: Oysters apple/ginger - these were really really good, its a bit of a steep price for 6 ousters but the combo of ginger and apple with an oyster is pretty genius. However, it did feel these were a bit rushed and a pinch of ginger/apple was inconsistently thrown onto each oyster, some oysters weren't well shucked either . I'll write those mistakes off to it being newly opened Tuna tartare - I think this was unfortunately the least exciting of all the food we ordered. It may be I was comparing it to the beef tartare and jonah crab from the downstairs restaurant, but I would recommend for going this plate and trying something new. It lacked on flavor and the tuna was nice but nothing remarkable. Boqueronnes - these are basically sardines but really really good ones at that. The olive oil they come in is rich and delicious. So, you have a date coming up. You don't know where to go but you want a place with the perfect low-key to vibey ratio. Enter, Bar Blondeau. My friend and I had decided to visit Le Crocodile for dinner and very intelligently forgot to make reservations during prime time. We were recommended by the maitre d' to visit their cute bar upstairs. So, we did. As soon as the elevator opened on the 6th flr, we were greeted with a chic, perfectly lit, warm orange hue from the space. The Manhattan skyline was visible from almost everywhere through the large glass windows. Yes yes yes. It was prime time but they were not too full (awesome for us). We were seated in one of the booth tables and oh my gosh...I couldn't stop thinking where I could order the same couch for my apartment. Their menu includes a list of apps, all roughly $25 or under, and drinks. Since we were having dinner after, we decided to just get the raclette with honeycomb and toast. For drinks, my friend ordered the Sunbird and I got something from their "zero proof" selection that was sort of like an old fashioned (which I see they don't offer anymore, might have been seasonal). Let's start with the food first. For a bar, I was quite pleasantly blown away by the flavor profiles of this simple dish of basically bread and cheese. There was a hint of some sort of Middle Eastern spice on the honeycomb that was a gamechanger. I would rate it an 8.5/10. The drinks were also amazing. As an individual who's had countless mocktails in her life, I can say they are usually either excellent or pure shit (think Dole concentrate with some mint and ice). This cocktail they made almost tricked me into thinking I was drinking something alcoholic and was so well made. I definitely need to come back to try everything on their menu. Such a lively but chill rooftop. It's the perfect place to be when you want to be outside and see the beautiful NYC skyline. My friend and I came here on a Saturday night and the vibes were perfect. Not too loud, perfect location, and tasty food! My only complaint is that I couldn't enjoy any of the fried foods because they cook in peanut oil and I'm allergic but thankfully there were other things on the menu that I could enjoy. I highly recommend the shrimp, the prosciutto and the crudo. Definitely a great spot to go if you don't want to deal with a loud dj and dancing people and want more of a low key rooftop vibe. read more

I'd rate Bar Blondeau four and a half stars. Bar is located on the sixth floor of the Hotel Wythe. It faces east towards the East River offering some beautiful views of Manhattan and the river. The bar counter is perfectly placed so all barstools have this wonderful. A great place to observe the sunset. The atmosphere finds a nice balance between classy and casual. It's a place you could dress up, dress down, or make whatever you'd like out of the evening; exactly what I'd be looking for in a hotel bar. Lots of round booths which were comfortable plus some rooftop outdoor seating. Staff was great. Attentive and super friendly. We went tapas style for the food. We shared the oysters, the tuna tartare, the smoked trout, fried artichokes, eggplant, and shrimp. My favorite item was the smoked trout. It was cooked and served as a chunky salad with red caviar on top. Super oceany. The fried artichoke and the roasted eggplant slivers were my next favorite items. Nice city view if you are seated INDOOR at this rooftop bar at the Wythe Hotel. Please note that most of their outdoor seatings do not have city view. So after traveling 40 minutes to make it there we are told that if we don't have reservations we can't go it because they are T capacity and the earliest time they had was at 10:45pm . They tell us that at 7pm . My point been the hostess was as RUDE as they come and the door person was just as rude . . They seriously need to make sure whomever answers the phones actually knows what they are saying . Didn't like the service as we got there , I mean if you can even call that service . Fabulous spot! Perfect for a small bit or quick eats before continuing your night/day. Fantastic views and super friendly staff! We were able to slip in for an hour or so right before a large parties reservation. So nice of them to accommodate us because the restaurant was PACKED no room for standing or sitting! And we came here on a whim. Food was really good and had some major standouts which the waiter so kindly helped us with. The pickled mussels seemed like an unlikely pair but were served cold and made it refreshing and savory at the same time. So good! The crudo was also super refreshing and light but nice citrusy flavor. And of course you must get the raclette cheese with honey comb. 4.5 stars. A great addition to the neighborhood, and the Wythe Hotel hospitality/restaurant conglomerate; an extremely well thought out operation by an extremely competent, talented team. A Williamsburg rooftop bar, but a little bit more... This might be just my brain doing this, but the lovingly and elegantly designed 6th floor cocktail bar, facing the water, seems to want to emulate a late 50s airport lounge in subtle shades of old fashioned North by Northwestian glamour. I don't know why this was in my head, but cocktails named The Stunt Pilot, Stormy Weather, and Pan Am may have contributed to this vibe. If you sit inside, the view is stunning, and as the sun sets the room is bathed in neon violet, which shines into your drinks. Yes, thank you. The place is brand new, and still finding its footing, but something I realized that wasn't *completely clear* until later, is that this isn't just a bar serving bar food, it's a whole-ass restaurant on its own. I was expecting small plates and a smaller tab, but we were two people ordering food and drinks (who skipped dessert) and we spent well over $200, so be aware. I think we've spent less at Le Crocodile. However, our server kindly and expertly guided us away from over-ordering; I have to commend him for that, it is appreciated, but this place is expensive. The food is awesome. The salmon rillettes, tuna tartare, and fried halibut were absolutely delicious (and hearty, and not small). The drinks were a bit more hit and miss. The Pan Am is a spicy knockout, refreshing and delectable, which makes me want to come back just to try the L'Orange. The Gone Baby Gone was special too, absolutely delicious. But the intriguingly described Stormy Weather just tasted like your garden variety scotch & soda, and The Stunt Pilot tried to do a bit too much and wound up being a tad bland. The service is wonderful. Very friendly and informed. They're also dressed in the most luscious-looking comfortable outfits, recalling the recent HBO hit The White Lotus. I hate seeing servers look hot, stiff, and uncomfortable. This was the opposite, and it made me feel relaxed, like I was at a Hawaiian resort. Everyone wore masks, every server, every bartender. As a result, there is a noticeable uptick in the type of people you're surrounded by: namely, not Brooklyn d-bags; people who wear masks in the hallways, and are respectful of others, not loud or abrasive. And I am so thrilled to report there are no strollers to be seen here. The staff was very chill about "look around, explore" and I've seen some reviewers comment on the outdoor space, and maybe there is scaffolding preventing some of the views of the river, but the dreamy, spacious, festively lit wraparound outdoor area seems prize-worthy. It's very transporting, and the peeping tom-ish views of the adjacent Williamsburg Hotel, where you can literally see right into people's rooms, is cinematic and surreal. "I don't want to leave" I commented as I was siting at our extremely plush and comfortable banquette, and immediately started figuring out how my schedule could accommodate another visit ASAP. For my birthday outing, a group of friends and I came here and I'm disappointed to say that the experience was horrible. The hostess was rude, even with us having a reservation. The server was not attentive at all - we waited about 20 mins for drinks and only received them because we had to remind our server of the wait. When we ordered food, he also did not give us plates, utensils, etc. and again, we had to ask for them. He forgot about us often and it felt like our table did not matter. When we tried to move our group outside from indoors, the hostess very rudely told us "it's best you stay where you are." Lastly, for the price, the food and drinks were very mid.
