GO HERE! Personally my favourite bar/tapas hangout in Barcelona. Food is cheap and super good. Wine is decent price as well. Can often have to wait for a table though at peak times but the servers are helpful and will serve you as quick as possible. Croquettes are amazing, deep fried artichokes as well. Steak tartare is great. Pretty much everything on the menu is good. I think I eat here almost every day when in town. I normally have to fit in a second lunch or dinner but it is worth it. read more

Warning: Do not be fooled by the 4 star rating. By far, one of the WORST tapas restaurants during my trip in Barcelona. Let me break it down... 1. There is an air of arrogance with the staff right when you walk in. As it is a popular place, the staff know they do not have to provide good service to their customers. Ordered the pan con tomate, house salad, potatoes bravas and seafood platter..all a lazy and poor showing of classic tapas dishes. 3. Once again, absolutely terrible service... I'm truly a fan of this place, but in fairness we came in here with someone who comes in here a lot, so he knew all the tricks. In fact, every time I've ever gone anywhere with this particular friend, he's had a knack for a) picking great places and then b ) ordering like a million things off the menu. We had the pork croquetas, as well as the seafood croquetas, and patatas bravas, and some sort of salad thing (I didn't even have any of that because it was on the other side of the table!) and grilled octopus. Everything was great. The seafood croquetas, which were black on the inside because of the squid ink, were maybe the best croquetas i've had anywhere. Crazy right? They were amazing! The pork ones were great too. just like basically everything else. The grilled octopus for me was just OK, it was the only thing I thought that if I came back there, I could pass on. Next time I'll get two orders of those seafood croquetas! You should go to this place though. It's great and the vibe is great and everyone who works here is really nice. They don't have ginger ale, which kind of sucks for someone like me who loves whiskey, but there's coca-cola. because there's always coca-cola. Stop by. Enjoy! read more

Bar del Pla! Come on, guys! When in Barcelona, you'll find a million tapas bars, literally several every block. Does Bar del Pla stand out? Probably depends where you've been. To me, it was perfectly portioned tapas, to-die-for croquettes, amazing tartare, just delectable and at the right place, right near the Picasso museum. Bar del Pla was recommended by my brother who visited a few years ago. Another friend of my buddy also recommended. The ambiance was nice and we dined early because we couldn't get reservations. We sat at the bar and had a blast. The croquettes were excellent as were the Gambas (shrimp). The Patatas Bravas were excellent as well. The spices in the sauces were paired well. We arrived at Bar del Pla and were quickly seated at a bar in the back. It had a nice atmosphere and though we were at the bar it was pretty comfortable. I ordered the suckling pig tacos, which I believe was a special for the day. We also got some patatas bravas, and tomato bread. The service was a bit slow, but tolerable. I had to remind them that they had negected to bring out the patatas bravas. The couple next to us had a much worse experience. We watched them order the food and wait a ridiculous amount of time before they finally decided to just get the check for the drinks and go someplace else. The best pan con tomate (tomato bread) in all of Barcelona. Visited this small tapas bar in the Gothic Quarter on a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint. Was located on a small carrer...we walked passed it a couple times cuz it was so unassuming. Less touristy than some of the other tapas bars which I loved. Locals were hanging out inside just visiting their friends. Even though it was less touristy everyone spoke a little English and staff was very friendly. That shouldn't be a invitation to come in acting like stereotypical dumbass Americans though. This American can't even stand that. Good variety of different tapas that are all good. They have a bone in beef steak on the menu that's super tasty and not expensive. Steak lover approved. This place was so good, I went twice in 4 days. This was our first tapas dinner in Barcelona. The restaurant is very busy and lively in the front. But there is a nice quiet back room which is where we sat. The host wasn't the friendliest (he seemed tired of the tourists as this seemed like most of the diners) but we were there for the food! The patatas bravas were OK - a bit oily and not fried enough for me. The salmon salad was good though it wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be a cooked piece of fish, instead I got raw sushi-like salmon. Which was fine as the quality was good but not what I was in the mood for at the time. It was served with chickpeas, egg, red onion and tomatoes. The pan con tomate was really good. We didn't have a problem with service but the couple next to us waited forever for dishes that never came. After inquiring twice and being reassured "it was coming", they left. Staying around Las Ramblas, it was pretty tough to avoid the tourist traps and find good food, which was surprising. It wasn't super cheap, Bar del Pla provided the best tapas experience I had in Barcelona. Traveling by myself gave me the advantage of showing up to the most popular places without a reservation and setting myself up at the odd seat at the bar. Couples and groups ahead and behind me were all getting turned away. Though I loved this, I didn't get to try as much as I wanted. I got the squid ink croquettes, tuna tartare and tomato bread. I know I didn't get very creative, but I had been sucked into so many terrible places (wasn't using Yelp enough), I was grateful to have delicious, basic tapas. I hope to return to Barcelona, and I will definitely try to come here again. read more

The waiter first brought just one menu (we were a group of five) so we had to ask for one for each of us. The Tuna Tartare was very good, and so were the Mussels. The suckling pig tacos were the special of the day and we loved them! The Catalan sausage was a disappointment, perhaps because I was expecting something very different. But it was just few small bits of minced meat with large chunks of omelette. Overall, a decent but not too exciting place to eat. read more

Best Tapas in Barcelona! Been on several trips to Barcelona now and have been back to Bar del Pla on two separate visits. The first time we went we had a short wait, roughly 10 minutes, to get sat but it was well worth it. We ended up staying for about 4 hours as we enjoyed the food (and wine) so much. The second time we went was for dinner and we had booked beforehand as there was a big group of us. It offers an amazing selection of tapas and traditional recipes. Don't be afraid to try something new, everything they serve is cooked to perfection! I am visiting Barcelona again in June and will definitely be going again!! read more

Easily some of the best "tapas" I've eaten! Walked in for lunch before the Picasso museum and was not disappointed so went back again for dinner the night after (make sure you make a reservation to be on the safe side as it did get very busy). Dishes we had were the squid ink croquetas, bomba de pulpo, Jamon con pollo croquetas, Secreto Iberico and the amazing cripsy oxtail with foie gras (must try - ordered this twice both days). Staff was cool and the ambiance was great, good choice of music too. As mentioned before the crispy oxtail is worth going for alone at the least! Will be back whenever I'm in BCN again. read more
