Fringing away, I felt like getting something Japanese for lunch…read more The space is large and chaotic and noisy, with the World Cup adding a lot to the last two. You have to accept that the restaurants in the Distillery District are not going to be quiet experiences due to the age of the buildings. Wide open and stony. I got the seaweed salad, unagi don, and their "handcrafted lemonade". Service was quick and efficient. Everything was okay. Nothing stood out, except the fizzy lemonade was quite refreshing, and the unagi was some of the tenderest I've ever had. Otherwise there was nothing special, but nothing bad either. I guess other people love avocado. It was part of the unagi don bowl, but it didn't add anything to the eating experience. It's a Toronto trend that feels like a little box is getting checked in most restaurants. However, other tables were getting what looked like well-prepared dishes, and I would definitely return to try something else here.

As a group visiting from Chicago and had no more agenda left on our trip, we stumbled upon this gem while walking around the Distillery District. Their patio caught my eye at first because it was super cute, then we looked at their menu and decided to dine in! We ate at the patio since it was a beautiful afternoon where it wasn't too hot. The ambiance was perfect to end our weekend trip in Toronto. When the tuna steak came out, all you heard was "Woah" because of the beautiful presentation and you can see how fresh the tuna was! And we were so right. The tuna was soooo good and sooo fresh. My friend is somewhat of a picky and not so healthy eater but he gave it a try and was so impressed. I'm adding this place to my list of restaurants we loved. Until next time!

Stopped by this lovely French bistro in the heart of the Distillery District…read more With the big group I had, we tried the following items - toronto tomahawk steak - chicken Cobb salad - mussels - tagliatelle Our favourite item was the tomahawk steak, highly reccomended in big groups, 4 to 5! Its a 56 Oz Canadian prime tomahawk with grilled corn salad. The steak was fantastic as it was dry aged and cooked very well to medium (showing a warm, thick band of hot pink). The corn salad was an excellent pairing as well. For the rest of the dishes, they all tasted great but the portion sizes were noticeably smaller compared to other restaurants I been to. Overall, this restaurant has a lovely / relaxing atmosphere and beautiful decor decor. Service was awesome as well. Worth checking out if u want a fine dining experience in Distillery District.

I often pop in for their pretty good baked goods, so I decided to try dinner one night and ordered The Cluny French Onion Soup, Vol-au-Vent, and 6oz tenderloin. The food was overall decent--not too crazy but good, with comforting soup, flaky pastry in the Vol-au-Vent, and a tender steak that hit the spot without being exceptional. The restaurant was pretty dead at about 10% capacity, which made the rushed, inattentive service stand out even more--for a slow night, I expected better attention that would elevate the vibe. It really tarnished the experience and didn't leave me wanting more. Stick to the boulangerie side; dinner is okay for a casual bite but lacks the polish to stand out.

Came here on a Friday night and had such a fun experience…read more The space has a great after dark vibe with dim lighting and neon accents, cozy but still lively. We ordered the oden set with yogurt soju, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and the salmon fried udon with uni sauce. Everything was super comforting and flavorful, especially the oden on a cold night. What really made it stand out was the bingo game. It got the whole bar involved and made the night feel more interactive and social. We ended up chatting with a group nearby and even taught them a Malaysian yam seng cheers, which turned into a really fun moment. Great spot for a lively night out with good food and energy. Would come back.

But unfortunately, this time we got a bit disappointed. Platter was filled with cheap/frozen fries that I don't event want to put it in my system. Salmon udon looked so sad, and we couldn't finish it. Cocktail was not bad though. I liked their lighting and decorations. The server looks cute but doesn't seem to be knowledgeable when we had questions (and keep forgot our requests..) I support local businesses and hate to say this. But probably I may not come back anymore as now there are many other fusion bar options available in North York. *This is only personal opinion, and your experience might be different. I'm not mad or anything haha. Just being honest about what we had that day hoping this helps other Yelpers to decide where to visit or what to eat spending their precious time and money :)

This must be the place!…read more Our first trip to Toronto and boy did we have fun. From delicious food to sipping wine, and everything in between, Toronto was a city to explore. Ladybug Wine Bar is a cute but also sophisticated wine bar located on King Street, steps away from shopping and restaurants. We stopped in here on a snowy Sunday before our flight home. They also serve Sunday Brunch. We grabbed a few open seats at the comfy bar. They do not offer wine flights, which made this experience pretty darn expensive but SOOOO worth it. We had such a fun time and the people working were so nice, we honeslty did not want to leave. They were willing to help with our selections. We actually ordered all their Reds by the glass. I know, but there were only about 6 and we had to try them all. I like to say "go big or go home" LOL! We loved almost all except for maybe a few. We ended up also ordering a charcuterie while we sip. And of course I brought a bottle home with me. If you are ever in Toronto, please check out Ladybug wine bar, it is fantastic, you won't want to leave. Cheers!

A Hidden Gem for Brunch!!…read more I came here with 3 of my girlies that love brunch. Everything we ordered was fresh, light, and absolutely delicious. We started with some drinks which were super affordable compared to other brunch places. The espresso martinis weren't too sweet and had the perfect balance. As for the dishes the standout for me was the smoked salmon toast. The combination of the eggs, fresh dill, and sliced salmon on top of toast was so yummy. Service was nice and the place was cozy/bright. Highly recommend this spot for a girls' brunch or casual date.
