    Chips and salsa with guacamole

Beautiful patio bar on the fourth floor. Looked like a tropical paradise in the middle of the city. Service was fast and friendly We just had drinks and one app. Red wine Sangria was spicy and refreshing. The Coco Loco was sweet without being overly sweet and made the evening more fun with the beautiful presentation. Had the chips with guacamole and salsa which was nice.

    MATCHA MY VIBE

I tried the MATCHA MY VIBE cocktail and honestly, it blew me away. It's the perfect balance of earthy, creamy, and subtly sweet. The Ketel One Vodka gives it a clean, crisp base, while the Licor 43 adds this gorgeous vanilla-citrus note that complements the matcha beautifully. The coconut cream ties everything together with a silky, tropical finish -- not too heavy, just enough to make it feel indulgent. It's like a matcha latte all grown up and ready for a night out. Bonus points for presentation -- vibrant green color, served in a chilled coupe with a light dusting of matcha on top. Aesthetic and delicious. If you're a fan of matcha, creamy cocktails, or just want something a little different than the usual espresso martini, this one's a must-try.

I visited the loft at Baro for an event (3rd floor). The vibe was a lot of brick and wood tones, I could see this being a good intimate wedding venue with long harvest tables. The bar servers were extremely nice. They had coat check as well, however that gentleman was less welcoming (just trying to get though the day I think). The microphone during speeches was a bit echo-y which made it a bit difficult to understand what they were saying at times. For the food, the salad was mid. Just missing flavour I guess? The steak and Potatoes were amazing - rich and complex in flavour, and generous portion size. Finally the dessert was good but I was too full from the previous courses to finish everything. The dinner service did take a while (2-3 hours to complete) which was my only complaint. They accommodated all dietary restrictions. Overall I enjoyed being at this venue for the event I attended.

Energy | cocktails | chicken Energy - The atmosphere of this place is electrifying with boundless energy. It's an absolute blast, exuding vibrant and cool vibes that appeal to everyone. Patrons are clearly enjoying themselves, whether they're socializing with friends, on a romantic date, or simply unwinding at the bar. all the place has really good vibes and I highly recommend it. Cocktails - This place has the top three cocktail value presentations and taste experiences I've ever encountered. The cocktails are creatively presented and offer surprising value for the price. Even if you're just there for the drinks, you won't be disappointed. Chicken - I dug into the deliciously sizable grilled chicken dish that night. I was absolutely famished, and it completely hit the spot. This dish was fantastic. The taste was excellent and it came out at the perfect temperature. The chicken was so tender that it fell off the bone easily, which is not always the case with this type of meal. I usually worry about making a mess when eating something like this, especially on a date, but it was surprisingly easy to manage. I wasn't trying to impress anyone, but it turned out great. Pro tip: To secure a seat on a busy night, be sure to make a reservation as this spot is very popular..

I'm a regular at Baro, especially for the Pablo Snack House happy hour--I love that it goes until 7, unlike most places that end at 5. The vibes are always chill and the service is consistently good. It's usually bustling, but there are rare occasions when it's pretty quiet. The mojito and another drink that I can't quite remember the name of are my go-to choices here. Oysters are a must--well-priced and tasty. The mushroom tostada was honestly SO fire. I'm typically hesitant with mushrooms, but this was so good. And I can't forget about the hummus; I'm not sure if it's made in-house, but it's delicious, and I love that we can get as much bread on the side as we want. Overall, I love coming to Baro and will keep coming back as long as they keep their happy hour going!

    Lobster Mac and Cheese

Really enjoyed our meal at Barro in February in Toronto. It's kind of dark and intimate on the inside, but a little noisy too. Great energy and vibe that takes you away from the street. Not exactly a date spot but the food is good enough to impress. It's kind of a pan-latin with some interesting twists on classics. Service was attentive and always available, though a little verbose at times for my taste. We started with an agua chile which was made right, with delicious shrimp. Lobster mac and cheese was probably the best dish we had-it was fortunate the three of us shared it because it was very rich but you just couldn't stop eating it. Shishito peppers were delicious and done right. Octopus was perfectly cooked. I would revisit if in Toronto.

Super cute bar, with great music. Also has a roof top terrace part and this place is several floors. Highly recommended for a night out

Had a great brunch with friends on the rooftop patio at Baro. Such a nice seating plus totally covered over. No need to worry about it being too hot! The food was pretty fantastic too. We had some cocktails, and then we had the Chori papa, and somebody had steak. The meals were incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. Very relaxed atmosphere. The service was good. We definitely have to come back and try the evening fare, which is served in their downstairs location. If you have mobility issues, no worries getting upstairs because it's all by elevator. It's on King West just west of Spadina, so parking could be challenging, but getting there by transit was really easy.

This venue is so stunning. I didn't realize they have something like four different floors. This was the snack bar upstairs. We got the mai tai, which was delicious and came in this fun coconut like glass. Our server was wonderful. She was great at recommending things as well as suggesting we make adjustments what we are ordering depending on what we liked. We ended up just getting a snack of the chard habanero hummus with a pita bread. It was so delicious and have this spicy topping on it that made it even more delicious and the pita was so fresh and tender. I'd love to come back here and try more of the items on the menu. It was wonderful.

I visited Baro with a large group and we had the preset menu. The menu is decorated nicely and gives a cool, modern vibe. The service throughout the night was seamless and food came out with good timing - they were well prepared for our group of ~18. The meals were family style and there was more than enough to go around. I was full by the end of the night. My favourite of the dishes were the tuna ceviche (the coconut lime sauce was sooo good), and the duck confit rice. Since the rice comes in a hot stone bowl you can let it sit for a bit to make the rice nice and crispy. The "big ass steak" was cooked pretty well. I'd recommend getting the steak medium rare - we got one rare and the medium rare we definitely better. Everything was really tasty and our meal ended off well with churros. They gave us a coconut pistachio cream popsicle as well that was ehhhh - but honestly this is the only part of the meal that wasn't tasty for me. Considering how much food came out, that's pretty darn good. I'd definitely recommend the group preset menu for anyone looking to have an easy dinner with a large group.

What a fun, warm, exciting place to eat! Two coworkers and I came here for dinner, and our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs. We ordered WAY too much. And, all I wanted to eat was the Duck Chaufa...after that came out, I couldn't be convinced to eat anything else. The crowd was young and hip and the place was packed. Definitely a mix of girls nights and first dates, for the sophisticated set. Even though we had to sit at the bar, which isn't the best view or place for a conversation, the service was still impeccable.

Been wanting to come here for a while and glad I did because the service and food was gooood! My friend and I got the rooftop patio (will come back during the day), we got the high table against the wall. Though I had issues getting on the chair since it was so big and in a tight area. We got Patron Pink lemonade (so goood) and espresso martini. The OG duck friend rice was amazinggly good but it did take a while for it to come out. Great for sharing, it was a lot for 2 people. The Yellowfin tuna ceviche was yummy, creamy and sour. The grilled octopus was cooked to perfection and the sauce paired well together. Definitely will come back to try other dishes or their brunch!

The place SEEMED quiet but shortly thereafter the place got JAMMED! Initially it was slow service but it picked up shortly. We had several different servers so no single server is tagged here. I will say that it's a hip, nicely equipped restaurant. We decided to do an appie meal. We ordered Sichuan Chicken lettuce wraps ($25.50)..this was the best of the appies. The next was the Crab Dip ($20.75), it was hot but not overly tasty. 3rd was the Hot Chicken Bites with pickles ($16.00). They were ok but not hot in temp enough. The final was the Chili Citrus Calamari ($21.25). This was the worse of the dishes. Simply put, it was cold. The server removed this from our bill. In summary...I wouldn't go out of my way again to go here but given all things being equal, the servers were very good. As a final note...the bathroom was very clean & well maintained.

We were treated so incredibly well by all the staff. Dawn was our server and she was so lovely! We really felt taken care of. I've never had a restaurant server look at the type of pant I was wearing and change my table napkin to a black one to match my dark pants. Nor do I remember a restaurant heating up the mug a cappuccino comes in to ensure it stays nice and warm. As for food, we were allowed to have some partake in Summerlicious and some not. I had the Summerlicious menu and picked the Wagyu Tartare, Surf and Turf, and Buttercake. Great portions, delicious food. My favourite was the Buttercake. We also had happy hour drinks, oysters, a prime rib, and caesar salad. If I were to recommend something, get the $78 prime rib which is 14 oz, perfectly seasoned, and comes with glazed carrots and the most amazing mashed potatoes I've ever had.

I found myself wanting to try most of the cocktails, which is a rarity. We got the Strawberry Tetsu to start (inspired by Uncle Tetsu's Japanese cheesecake), along with the Cloudy Oolong (tea-based cocktail with a salted caramel cheese foam). The Strawberry Tetsu tasted like a dessert and was delicious, with a graham cracker crumble rim. The Cloudy Oolong had a strong tea taste which I loved, as sometimes the tea can get lost in a cocktail. The foam on top was addicting and paired nicely with it, similar to a bubble tea. Next, I had the Burnt Yuzu which was light and refreshing from the citrus. The bar is hidden behind Misfit Ice Cream, with a speakeasy vibe to the interior. Large windows line one wall with a view to the exterior, but are tinted enough that people walking by cannot see in. We walked up to an unassuming entrance that is part of the experience, and once inside, the atmosphere shifts completely. The space is intimate and cozy with dim lighting, comfortable seating, and a relaxed speakeasy vibe that makes it easy to settle in for a couple of drinks. The transition from the street to the interior feels deliberate, and the low-key energy of the room encourages lingering. The cocktail menu leans heavily into Asian-inspired flavors, and that is what makes it stand out. Every drink feels thoughtfully developed rather than relying on presentation alone. We tried the Cloudy Oolong, which was especially memorable with its rich tea flavor and creamy cheese foam that added a savory depth to the cocktail. The Strawberry Tetsu offered a dessert-like profile without becoming overly sweet, balancing fruit and tea notes in a way that felt refined and well composed. Each cocktail arrived beautifully presented and balanced, making it easy to appreciate the amount of care that goes into every glass. The menu is creative without being gimmicky, and the flavors are well integrated, with each drink offering something distinct. The staff were welcoming and happy to explain the menu or offer recommendations if you are unsure what to order. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the experience feeling personal and unhurried. If you are looking for a cocktail bar that offers something different from the usual classics, After Seven delivers a memorable experience. Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!

Perched high above the bustle of downtown Toronto, LOUIX LOUIS makes a compelling first impression…read more The dining room is genuinely handsome -- a study in polished Art Deco glamour softened by sweeping city views that lend every table a sense of occasion. On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
