We entered the main door of Junto and then moved to the Tiki themed Bar Kapu with mismatched seating (different seat heights and design). There is a side entrance that leads directly to the outdoor area on the street adjacent to the front door. First big detractor of the night was the swarm of flies that come for your food. I had hoped for oscillating fans to keep them at bay, and to provide a cooling breeze, but that was wishful thinking for a 91° 6ish time slot. The service was fine and attentive, however I found it odd that they asked for a credit card to keep for the duration of our stay - I guess for an open tab - which I found to be an odd practice. I've worked in the credit card business, and that is a practice we would never recommend to consumers. It's one thing to hand it over at the end of the meal for them to promptly run it through the credit card kiosk, and another to bring it somewhere else for a considerable amount of time before it's been swiped. I don't normally carry my physical card around and rely on my phone's digital wallet, so luckily one of us had a card on hand. Now regarding the food - the veggie dumplings were fine - but for $14, definitely pricy for an appetizer. We had the $21 poke bowl which was nicely presented with a few avocado slices and seaweed salad, a decent amount of Bluefin tuna cubes, but it had way too much rice for serving size proportions and the tuna had an off putting aftertaste. My guests and I agreed that YW Poke's $14 bowls were way more flavorful and come with more toppings and sauce. Yes, I've had really awesome poke in other States, particularly O'ahu, but I'm comparing it to another local venue for an apples to apples comparison. The $18 Rainbow roll wasn't as good as the $16.25 Rainbow roll at Sushi house, another local site, which comes with freebie appetizers - so it's not something we'd order again. We understand that commercial retail rent must be high for any new builds given the B'ville Square real estate - and hands down, the decor in the backyard patio is eclectic, as is the attached Junto restaurant, but pricing should match the quality of the food. I've had better at AOI, also on the Square, even though their quality has come down a notch from their debut days. We won't be trying Bar Kapu again, but we will give Junto a chance even though the kitchen is the same, but only because their menu has more offerings. I've made a reservation for their brunch and will post their review tomorrow.

Fun and cute tiki bar, with great cocktail, mocktail, wine, and beer options. Plenty of space for large groups to hang out. The workers are friendly and knowledgeable. Ambience is laid back and approachable.

    "Old fashioned"

Do not order the old fashioned. It's not even close to an old fashioned. I asked the waiter if I had the right drink and they laughed and said even they think it's comical they call it an old fashioned. Mostly weird cherry taste, with crushed ice that melts in seconds.

It's a great combination of flavors, and the steak pairs really well with the feta and roasted garlic. The pizza itself is excellent. The crust is tender with just the right amount of char from the wood-fired oven--crispy on the outside while still soft inside. The whole place has a fun, energetic vibe with cycling decor throughout, friendly staff, and a menu that goes beyond pizza with a variety of solid pub food options. If you're looking for a lively place to grab great pizza and hang out for a while, this is a great stop.

We ordered drinks -- a typical assortment of mainstream and local beers, cocktails, and limited wine options. I got the cab, my husband ordered the golden from Bikerack Brewing. My wine was better than expected for a neighborhood bar. We ordered the Derailleur pizza, which was delicious, and our friend got a custom selection that he pillished off. The pizza here is all thin crust, which happens to be my favorite. We tried the chocolate pie for desert - also delicious. A solo performer came on around 7. There seemed to be a couple sound issues, but he was talented and made for a good background. Great bartenders - Amy rocks. I'd come back any time.
