Due to it being a holiday especially on a Friday night, I'm sure staff was psyched at the possibility of making good tips which I can totally understand. What I cannot understand is why my drink was arrogantly taken away from me by the bartender I ordered it from simply because I didn't add a tip! I feel so old school, but to me a tip is based on quality of service. Here's what happened. Anyone who has patiently waited to order a drink at a bar only to get overlooked deliberately when it's obvious you were next, knows how annoying that can feel. But now we have to tip for this, or else?! There was a female bartender taking orders. As I stood waiting at the front, I noticed a guy in front of me behind the bar focused more on cleaning than taking orders. I assumed he was the bar back. Several minutes after I first noticed him and after the girl kept going to others, he finally decided to acknowledge the fact that I was there and took my order. Because the girl bartender made direct eye contact with me yet chose to go to someone else I decided not to add a tip. As I went to pay the guy I noticed the debit machine did something weird after I selected no tip. The bartender swooped in with the quickness. He took the machine from me and said obnoxiously, "You didn't pay a tip?!" and swiftly put his nasty hands over the drink and pulled it back. I told him I wasn't adding a tip when I was deliberately passed over. I asked why would I tip for poor service? He then had the nerve to accuse me of now being in the way of others (how effing obnoxious!). Right on cue this dude stepped up in perfect entitled fashion. Like an idiot, I actually went to explain myself to him. To my surprise this kid declared, "You have to give a tip!" All I can say is we are truly some obnoxious F-ers to think we deserve something for nothing. It's like getting spit in the face and than thanking the person who did it. Totally goes in line with the A hole standards of the day! Never going back.

Daome used to be an actual apartment, and it's been refurbished a bit since then but is still small with comfy couches, old lamps and tiki art. It's chill to lounge in when it's quiet (ie; before 1am-ish.) You can hear each other talk, djs start around 10pm, well drinks are $6 for basic booze - you could do a lot worse. The sound quality is warm and well-suited to house, and the mirror above the dj booth gives a nice view on the good work going down. Fun, not fancy, shared bathrooms, a place to check out if you're looking to cut a rug around Mount Royal.

However, the drinks were terrible. I ordered a White Russian spiced with cinnamon or nutmeg. It was different, but I finished it. The Bloody Czar was awful though. Way too spicy, and I couldn't finish it. It was like vodka was mixed with hot sauce. The club was too dark and crowded, so I left to find another bar or club open on a Thursday night.

My trip was going to be from 1st August to 13th August but there was a incident which happened on 4th August which made me traumatized and I returned back to Toronto. So, basically me and 2 indians friends and 1 one from other country were at CLUB UNITY on Friday the 4th of August. We were in the line and when we reached to the bouncer he asked me if I have a reservation. I said no so he snatched me outside the line and said I cannot go in and nither my friends. I was like okay no problem then can I make a reservation? He said no. But he did not ask other people in the line for reservations and he was removing àll South asian people from the line. I asked a guy and a girl (caucasian) in the line if they have one and they said no and they said we can go without a reservation (I saw them getting in without being asked for a reservation just their ID). As well as on the website there was nothing mentioned and even club unity's Instagram. I called the customer service and she said we don't let anyone without a reservation but I told her that other people are going and she said no we need a reservation and the customer service was not helpful too. I have videos too where you can see that the people were not asked for the reservation except for brown skin. I am so upset because Unity was the club were I first went after coming out as gay. Later I put a review on google and the person from Club unity said I did not had a ID but that was never a case because if he asked me for a different ID then I would have given him. I honestly want justice and not someone responding with a rude too.

It's a medium-sized space that's a mix between a nightclub and bar. Not too big, not too small. The crowd is typically students and under 30's. I really dig the exposed brick walls and there's one big circle bar in the middle. It's a cool setup and decor The bar staff and owner are fun and welcoming, they're really great. The rules are straightforward: 1. No alcohol 2. No gum 3. No photos or videos (... also the unofficial rule that the right side is the gay side and the left is the straight side by the end of the night. It's not an actual rule, but a cultural thing). Complaints about it being alcohol-free, having gum taken away, or being told to put phones away miss the point entirely. Those are exactly the kinds of behaviors the club is trying to filter out, and it's part of what makes the experience what it is. Don't go expecting a flashy or luxurious venue. There is no VIP area on purpose - everyone in the club is considered equal. The lighting is minimal, and the layout is simple... mostly a large seating area and a big dance floor. You're there for the sound system, which is arguably the best currently functioning club speaker system anywhere on the planet, and for the atmosphere, which is on another level. There's a reason it consistently ranks among the favorite venues of top DJs worldwide.
