Stumbled upon this place last night. Wonderful light meal, which is just what we needed, but the full menu is very interesting. If i had more time, im sure we would go back for a paella as it looked delicious! Excellent value and good service. We stumbled across Bar Lobo and decided to sit down for a pitcher of sangria. Halfway through, I found a fly in my glass, which I nearly swallowed. I picked it out and notified the waiter, who said it was "impossible." I didn't really want to keep drinking the sangria after spitting out a fly, so we cut our losses, turned down a fresh pitcher, and asked for the check. I was pretty annoyed when the waiter tried to charge us for the entire pitcher of sangria. He directed me to his manager, who continued to insist there was no way they brought out a drink with a fly in it. When pressed for an explanation, he said the fly must have fallen in after they brought it out and that he had to charge me full price for it. There was no reasoning with him, so we had to suck it up, laugh it off, pay, and leave. In short, watch out for the sangria and don't expect any hospitality from this place. read more

Biggest disappointment in whole trip to Barcelona. Service slow. "Forgot" to bring us bread. Tapas amateurish. Ordered Seafood rice after being told it was paella without shrimp. It was paella without the flavor. A dozen mini clams and some calamari in a hot pot of rice and tomato sauce. My wife had eggs and ham but hard to screw that up. I have never written a review before but this was so disappointing that it warranted my first. 8 million restaurants in Barcelona, go to any other one....any one at all. read more

The food is not particularly impressive when considered with the price. The only memorable thing is the appalling service quality that the restaurant could offer. The waiter was with an attitude and showed utter disrespect to us. Very disappointed with the overall experience here and we left with a grudge. The waiter didn't understand the order and placed something completely different than the lunch tapas order (pre-fix) that we wanted. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I know you are supposed to try different places when you go on vacation but my parents and I ended up going back here for breakfast lunch and dinner! AMAZING tapas. It is right off La Rambla but is not at all touristy or poor quality like a lot of the other restaurants around there. Great atmosphere with quirky and interesting decor. I particularly enjoyed the fried artichokes, the patatas bravas, and the fried eggplant with honey. They also make a great cappuccino. read more

Bar lobo was suggested to me and my friend by the shop owner of grey street which was right up the same road a bit as the restuarant. Im happy Amiee suggested it cuz it was a beautiful establishment, reasonable in price and very good tapas. Me and my friend split the patatas bravas, friend artichoke and friend eggplant with honey as well as the quinoa salad. It was more than enough food. If i had to pick a favorite the eggplant and patatas bravas were exceptional in flavor. We also shared a pitcher of sangria which was also very flavorful and worth splitting the pitcher over per glass. I would definitely suggest Bar lobo to anyone visiting the area read more

I had breakfast there twice and lunch there twice. The food is good and seems fresh and prepared to order. The service is my biggest critique about this place. One of the times we ordered, waited but our waitress forgot to put our order in and forgot what we ordered. So we sat there for about 25 minutes only to start all over from the beginning. It is an escape from the touristy feel of the tapas places along La Ramblas. It is VERY convenient for the Le Meridian, less expensive than the La Meridian breakfast. I like it but thought it was still a little too pricey for what it was and the wait staff seemed inconvenienced by the presence of patrons in their restaurant. read more

Literally the most delicious food I have had in all of Barcelona. The hummus was so good I could barely eat the rest of my meal. I have been salivating over just the thought of this hummus for the past two weeks and just had to return, the second time it was even better. The hummus is a perfect smooth consistency and the toasted pita it comes with is fluffy, yet crunchy, and steaming. The patas braves, were a deliciously spicy compliment to the hummus. The salads were all fresh and large. Great spot for tapas and right off La Rambla. A little expensive, but worth it. read more

Easily accessible off of the most touristy section of Barcelona (Las Ramblas) I was a bit skeptical, but this street (Pintor Fortuny) is quite the gold mine and Bar Lobo is no slump. After brunch and a wander through the Raval a couple of friends and I weren't ready to go home so we stopped into Bar Lobo for a couple of cortados and a slice of chocolate cake to split. The cake was absolutely delicious; dense and rich to the extreme. I have since returned to sit in the cushy banquettes along the window to read a book and have another dessert which was also quite nice. The space is large and the lighting is great, interesting design and a great mix of internationals and a few locals as well. Prices are a little expensive but this isn't a bad spot to unwind or chat with friends, the food is better than average (and the desserts are great) and the atmosphere is quite enjoyable. The music is also up my alley (Electric Guest, Cat Empire and more). Good stuff! read more

I really wanted to love this place because the decor and ambiance is right up my alley. It was also right across the street from Le Meridien Hotel, where we were staying. It's very modern but cozy, the staff is friendly, and everything on the menu looks delicious. The execution, however, was just completely unremarkable. We ordered a tuna and guacamole dish recommended by the waiter, and also a seafood and saffron rice. (We had not eaten paella yet on this trip to Spain and were feeling guilty about it, so I feel like this was kind of a punt.) The tuna and guacamole was tasty, but didn't need to be served together. The guac completely overpowered the tuna, so I found myself consuming them separately. The rice and seafood was pretty bland. It was served in a skillet but there were no crispy parts at the bottom. I realize again that this was not a true paella but regardless of what it was meant to be, it just didn't taste great. Again, super cute place and lovely staff, but just not fantastic. read more

This is the first place we stopped once we got to Barcelona. A little expensive but we really liked the food. They had a lunch special that included either spanish tortilla or toast with tomato and ham, a juice and coffee. This was my introduction to the amazing Spain coffee. I never drink coffee and while in Spain I was drinking 3 cups/day. Anyway, the tortilla was outstanding and totally different to what you can find in the US. Excellent sangria. I think they soak the fruit in vanilla liquor. Tapas were nice too, especially the fried artichokes. More expensive then other places with the same quality food. Shrimp were a bit undercooked but the rest are highly recommended. And good for vegetarians too! read more

Service was just horrible!!!!! Me and my friend went there for breakfast 2 weeks ago. Restaurant looked really nice inside and we loved interior. When we sat at the table our waitress said hello with a face "I don't like you and do not like to serve people" and THREW only one menu on our table, i repeat that she did not place a menu on our table, she threw it at us. It is ok, I thought everybody can have a bad day and we placed an order. I asked how much extra will be to order a side of bacon, as it wasn't included in the combo I was taking. She told she needs to ask. I asked to find out please and she gave me attitude, literally saying" OK, it might be a euro or two, not too much". I thought that I am the one who decides how much is a lot or not. Shortly my friend received her food and I was still waiting, and waiting and waiting. My friend was still not eating waiting till my food arrives, as other waiter came to us and asked if we need anything. I mentioned that order was placed, my friend's food was ready and curios where is mine. And now imagine - that I was looking at the waiter that goes to my waitress and cook, they talk and he shows them something and after that everybody looks at me, waiter leaves, waitress keeps talking to cook And after that slowly, taking her time comes to my table and letting me know that the meal I ordered is not available as it finished. I asked why I needed to wait 15 minutes to find out.... Long story short, NO apology RECEIVED, NOT EVEN LOOKED SORRY. just, what do you want instead. Horrible , just horrible. We visited Bar Lobo after staying in next door Hotel 1898. The food here was decent. However the service here was some of the worst service I have ever experienced. The waiter actually got into an argument with me over what drink I ordered. With all the great restaurants we visited in the area I would never visit this one again. read more
