Located in La Mesa NM, it is an incredible, large facility right in the middle of all the pecan farms / orchards. Acres and acres of pastures, competition arenas, indoor barns for boarding, outdoor boarding, hybrid boarding, cattle pens, ranch houses and bunk houses, this place is huge. They house everything from privately owned horses (like mine), to thoroughbred race horses, quarter horses, lesson horses, trail ride horses, competitive horses and more. Dr Joe Armstrong lives on site, and his sons Josh and Ed, and their sons and daughters and other staff, facilitate everything. From training to care, they do it all. This is the absolute best boarding and/or training facility that you are going to find. Even if you don't own horses, they have plenty for you to do lessons on. Though I see my Bentley Boy almost daily, they are the ones that provide a world class, championship training facility for him. They provide a safe and happy home, daily water, daily stall cleaning, daily feeding, and look how clean he is!!! Yup, they bathed him and he looks incredible! In my absence, they also give him exercise and use him for some training with cattle or trail rides, and even photo shoots! And when I'm not being busy or just a baby because it's a sandstorm, they give me mounted and unmounted training twice a week. And they can train you too! Or your horse! Or both! Mr. Lowe was with us close to 25 years and lived all over country with us. He was always a little mean and obviously ended up being a grumpy old tabby. We loved him so much. He was VERY sweet to PEOPLE HE KNEW well and was quite popular in some circles. A HILARIOUS little dude sometimes. When it was time for him to go late Sunday night...we found out the 24 hour animal hospital was no longer 24 hours. He was so scared on the way to El Paso we turned the car around so we could sit up with him until morning. I couldn't deal with the idea of him going in another scary car ride...or to spend his last few miNutes in a scary strange place. Every time I thought about how much he trusts me- even blind with his sore old bones- he always came running to me...I would start sobbing. We were near a threshold where my sadness could become cruel as his suffering increased exponentially over the last 3-4 days...and sat there all night with him waiting for SOMETHING to open. Dr Thompson came to our house less than two hours after she got my voicemail to help him rest in his own home, with people he loves and trusts. He was not scared, he did not struggle, and somehow let us know that it was time. Dr Thompson turned him around so he could see us after she gave him the sedative...and I scratched his chin and talked to him...letting him know we were there. I can't thank the Doctor enough. She talked to him and let us tell her funny stories about Mr Lowe. The service she provides is saintly. I would have literally paid anything to avoid that scary car ride- but as my mother promised it was HALF the cost that I was expecting. Thank you and god bless.
