Bar ONE-STAR is more like it. Because that is the level of professionalism and customer service that you can expect from this bartending caterer. Since they offer a cash bar option and only require a minimum amount to be sold, I was stoked about hiring them. The concept is great if you need a real life bartender at your next event, but working with the "managers" was a nightmare... I'd almost rather risk having an underage, illegal immigrant serving up drinks than work with these people again. Long story short, I signed and sent back a contract which I come to find out ONE week before the event that they obviously lost. They didn't take any responsibility for dropping the ball, AND they had the nerve to pin it on me. WTF?!?!? This is when I started to lose my ish. I still have the email trails and the scanned SIGNED and dated contract to remind myself that I am not crazy. Luckily, they had an available bartender for the night of the reunion and were able to staff our event at the last minute. The bartender was actually pretty cool and did a good job. Had the booking process been more efficient, I would be singing their praises. Shoot, even if they admitted they effed up and apologized, I'd still be willing to recommend them. But after that drama, I am here to say that this business gets one dull star in my book. read more

Bar One was absolutely fantastic. Aaron and his staff coordinated the bar service at our wedding, which happened on September 17th, 2011. First of all, the premium bar service and quote that we were provided was far less expensive than any competitor that I found in the Los Angeles area. The job done job done at the event was fantastic. The staff was professional, courteous, and quick behind the bar. They arrived on time to set up and cleaned everything up swiftly at the end of the evening. The bartenders that were present were helpful and friendlThe bar was stocked appropriately so that there was liquor and beer throughout the course of the evening, all the way down to the last minute. I would highly recommend this business to anyone looking for beverage catering needs. The only pointer that I have, is that if you are aware that your guests will be drinking more of one thing and less of another (for instance, mine liked Jack), make sure to let Bar One know ahead of time and they will be sure to stock those items heavier. I hired Bar One for a family party of about 50 people, using the built in outdoor kitchen / bar area that is usually manned by a combination of friends & family & neighbors. This was a more special occasion and I didn't want anyone trapped making drinks, and also wanted to spare myself the hassle of buying all the alcohol, ice, cups, garnish, etc. Dan / Bar One handled *everything* ... I had never hired a bartending service before so I had about a hundred questions about what was included, etc. He answered all of them patiently and on the day of the party, his guys (JD and Joe) came through with everything as promised, and more. I cannot recommend Bar One enough! I had the pleasure of working with Dan in planning a huge event for my law school this past February. Not only was Dan professional and responsive throughout the planning stages, he was genuinely nice and felt invested in our event. He made great recommendations about the drink menu and floor plan, which were ultimately implemented at the event, and he worked with a very limited budget to help plan a successful and affordable event for 600 guests. He also suggested and created two signature drinks that our guests loved. The week of the event, he even upgraded our event to a nicer bar and premium ingredients at no extra cost. I was further surprised by Bar One's amazing staff. The day of our event, they showed up early for set-up, completed their Bar set up in a quick and sensible manner, and were kind and accommodating to any changes we requested. Each bartender that I interacted with was extremely nice and helpful.They truly made it a priority to ensure that we had a stress-free and fun event. Our guests all loved the bartenders as well, and we received numerous compliments about them. Once the event was over, they broke down all of their equipment quickly and were out by our requested time. It is so refreshing to find a company like Bar One. We were planning an event with a particularly tough itinerary and venue, and Bar One bent over backwards to meet all of our requests - not only that but they did it with a smile! I hired Bar One for an art mural exhibition to service 500 guests. Aaron is a pro and obtained the ABC permit on short notice. His bar staff provided great service to the guests, mixed excellent cocktails, poured craft beer from a local brewery, and had a good wine selection. They even brought non plastic cups for the event which is a big plus. Bar One is a full service beverage caterer and I highly recommend their services. I work for a nonprofit based in DTLA and we hired Bar One for two years in a row (!) to provide bar services for our Office Holiday Party. Dan and his team are so amazing and made sure to provide us and our guests a quality service! As a nonprofit, we cannot pay for alcohol through our funds so we had a cash bar. In researching bar services last year, we found many bar services require an outrageous minimum. Not only is Bar One reasonable in pricing out their minimum, but their bar rentals are completely affordable - we loved the ambiance the LED bar added to our event space. They showed up on time both this year and last year, were professional and accommodating to our needs and are just very easy-going people and very kind to work with. I was very disappointed in this service. I communicated through email with the owner, Aaron Knapp, leading up to my wedding date. One week before the big day, I spoke to him over the phone and from that point on, every interaction went down hill. He gave me the impression that it would be him, personally, coming out to bartend the event. He used the work "I" in many sentences, stating: "I" will be there at 4pm and "I" will be ready to assist. He told me, instead of explained, that one bartender was not enough for the amount of guests and insisted that we would need another one of his hired employees. Which I am sure would be another cost to me. This was even after I explained that half of our guests were children. I assured him that we have thrown many parties previously and had a set-up ready for him to make his job easier. He came off abrasive and rude. I consulted with my family regarding this interaction and they advised I stay clear during the reception. I came to find out, this was good advice. The employee had the same attitude as Aaron and immediately tangled with my father upon arrival. He placed a tip jar on the bar and my father asked him politely to take it down so our guests did not feel that they needed to provide funds at our event. My father explained that we would tip him if the service was sufficient. He proceeded to argue with my father but eventually took it down. Needless to say, we did not tip him based on further interactions we had with this employee. One of our coordinators has to assist him with drinks, keep in mind, we only had beer and wine! This employee place ice in a glass using his hand and thanks to the coordinator, the cup was thrown away and explained to this person that it was unacceptable to use your bare hands in providing for a guest. Many people stated that they asked for a certain wine and the bartender had no idea what to give them. One guest requested Chardonnay and he provided a red wine. Another guest asked for a red and was provided a blush wine. I am not sure who Aaron Knapp is hiring but they are not efficient individuals for any event. I am truly upset by this vendor. The wedding was amazing and we had no other issues or hang-ups. I would never recommend Bar One Beverage Catering. This was a horrible experience with Aaron Knapp's service. read more

These guys came through for our wedding day in ultimate fashion ... they priced a full bar out that was affordable, and the service was impeccable. We had requested a couple of final changes, and Dan was absolutely awesome about making everything happen and you could tell his goal was to make sure that myself and my husband were not to feel stressed about anything, and we didn't which was a huge relief. I loved the signature drink that they created for our Special day, and I think a few of our guests may have enjoyed it a bit too much ... if you get my drift! It was creative, tasty and actually embodied the "theme" of our wedding without any input from us - which was awesome! At the end of the night, I was touched that Dan presented us with a bottle of champagne for us to keep to open on our first Anniversary. It was so thoughtful, and we were so happy with such a lovely gesture! Not only were there prices amazing, Aaron the manager was very responsive and sent us a quote immediately.
