Nice cozy Irish style brewpub S of downtown Penticton…read more Parking is plentiful in the lot attached to the building. The inside looks vintage. Lots of dark wood trim. The usual. There are several screens on the wall, which would satisfy any sports fans. Staff are friendly. No complaints. The fish & chips here are pretty solid. I had mine with onion rings and coleslaw. Typical tasty pub food. Hit the spot. As of my visit they have 5 beers (light to medium). Enough for a flight basically. Can't go wrong. Good choice for getting food in the area.

We ordered 20oz draft lager ($8.75), Calamari ($18), Dry Ribs ($17), Pulled Pork Sandy ($19.50), and Rose Alfredo Pasta ($19). We meant to say we ordered Baby Back Ribs as waitress misheard it as Dry Ribs. We missed the timing to correct out order. Everything was pretty good except Dry Ribs. Calamari was crispy and flavourful. Dry Ribs didn't stand out as much. It was just dry ribs with salty and peppery flavour in a small portion. Pulled Pork Sandwich was fantastic with plentiful of fries. Sandwich was nicely made with coleslaw. Meat stuffing was delicious as well. Rose Pasta was mouthwateringly tasty. Garlic bread was so good even with Rose pasta sauce. Staff were nice and friendly. Barley Mills was a great place for our dinner last night. There was a pool table by the washroom if any customers want to play pool with friends after work. It was quite a memorable dining experience. Food was two thumbs worthy. I would love to dine here again with my family.

We made reservations and I'm really glad we did, it was very busy and we noticed later that there was a line and a wait to get in. There is a beautiful boardwalk and dock just in front of the restaurant. We went on a nice walk before dinner as we were a bit early. At our reservation time we were seated right away in a relatively quiet booth as requested. So bonus points earned here. The restaurant was pretty loud but our corner was not too bad. Our server was friendly, but we only ended up seeing her every 20-30 mins. I ordered a fantastic wine, which I have since gone out and bought, and my husband also ordered a great wine. Our appetizer was the sunset shrimp, which I was a bit hesitant to order at first. But OMG it was absolutely delicious! If you come for nothing else order this, it's tempura shrimp over a bed of picked vegetables and has an awesome spicy creamy sauce drizzled on top. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with blackened chicken. This was epic as it is made with FRESH and I mean fresh pasta, and the chicken was super moist! Probably one of the best pasta dishes I have had in a very long time. Hubs ordered the ribs which he said were ok, but a bit dry, his highlight was the fries. He thought they were fried in tallow, super crisp and flavourful. We ordered a dessert to share which was a bit disappointing. A turtle cheesecake, which was supposed to have candied pecans, nope just walnuts. Supposed to have caramel and chocolate drizzle, no where to be found. And it was coated in a lot of raw cinnamon, not even mentioned on the menu. And it was the tiniest slice I have ever been served at any restaurant anywhere, and it was $12. All in all a very pleasant evening, with mostly highs, I would still recommend this place as most of the food and especially the wine were wonderful.

Passing through the area for work. This rating is for my experience…read more My food was very tasty at a great portion and price and my waitress Leann? was an angel. I'm giving a low score due to the fact that I feel this establishment is heavily discriminatory of people of color. When speaking to locals I had met. They all agreed. I was passing through Kelowna on a work trip and this location and golf course was near my hotel. So I decided to walk over as I was excited since I frequent driving ranges and courses. When I walked in the door, immediately I was stared at like I didn't belong there. Of course 95% of wait/hostess staff were white/white passing. I asked to sit on the patio because there was a great view. There were multiple 2 and 4 tops available. I was sat at a huge table at the very back away from the view as not to be intermixed with all the white diners that were all seated forward towards the view. I was there drinking and dining for almost 2 hours and none of those tables had diners. So the excuse that they were "reserved" isn't valid. I was gawked at by wait staff and just stared at. It was not a great feeling. When I spoke to friends and other locals of the area. They all confirmed that's exactly what was happening as they had heard the same from other people. If you're a person of color STAY AWAY. This was absolutely the most uncomfortable I felt within the entire western half of Canada. As I've gone through A LOT of cities and Provinces. I didn't event get a chance to do the driving range on the property because I was so uncomfortable with it all. I would've preferred to be turned away versus sitting there being treated this way. Locals then recommended multiple other options where I may be more accepted. Again food was tasty but seeing myself and the only other table of color being tucked away out of site truly left a horrible taste in my mouth.

Our servers on both occasions were highlights, attentive yet also leaving us be. Last night it was just K and I and the previous visit there were five of us outside on the patio. The space is nicely decorated but has no real charm or ambiance, which is understandable in a big hotel. The menu is extensive enough that you should be able to find something to meet the needs of your palate while here, but there are many choices within walking distance that may be a better choice of you are looking for a specific culinary experience. If you don't want to leave the hotel, you shouldn't be disappointed with your choice. Our food while not amazing during each visit was solid, and well presented. It might be a little on the higher end cost wise, but what isn't these days. Given all the choices in the neighbourhood within a short stroll, you may want to explore, but also understand the best choice might be in the hotel you're staying at.
