For what they putting in what you get out of it the prices are very reasonable and quite good. Garin is my go-to man at Barber's Den. He always pays close attention to what I want, makes sure he delivers it, and makes useful suggestions for hair styling and care. He even explains what techniques he's using and why. I've been to Garin about four times, and also seen Pete a few times who is great, too. The vibe is laid back, but professional. I can't understand any of the negative reviews I've seen here--perhaps they got a random bad job or didn't explain what they wanted very well. Be clear about what you want and I'm sure these guys can deliver. Also, I know that if you don't like the job, they'll do anything they can to fix it. Went here today and got a cut from Evan. I have been going to the Melrose location for awhile so when I moved I was glad they had a location closer to me. Evan pays attention to detail and cuts exactly how you want it. He takes his time and made some recommendations. The scheduling is a huge plus. no more waiting in line anymore. Not sure why this place for two $$ on yelp. It's 23 bucks for a cut in an area that could probably charge more. I highly recommend and will come back in a heartbeat. read more

I was disappointed with this place because they advertise on their website the length of time they will take for haircut. They write 25 to 45 mins, but the barber just worked on my hair less than 10 mins and the result was horrible. In addition this place is very over priced for a 10 minute lousy result. Today was my first visit to the Barber's Den. I've been wanting to go for a long time now, as a bunch of my friends have had nothing but good things to say about the place, but I never got around to it. This place is fantastic. Not only is the atmosphere awesome, but everyone there is super nice and really knows what they're doing. I know a lot of people say this sort of thing, but I've always considered my hair to be pretty difficult to cut correctly (I have super thick, curly/wavy hair), and I always have a tough time explaining how I want it to look (mainly because I'm pretty indecisive about it anyways). I told my barber that I didn't really know how to explain what I had in mind, but knew I wanted something "fresh, and a little old school." Boy did he deliver. Not only was I able to make an appointment ahead of time (all online), but I was in and out in 30 minutes, and had good conversation the whole time. Oh - and I've never been more satisfied with a haircut. Definitely exceeded my expectations, especially considering how I couldn't really put into words or describe what I wanted in the first place. I found out they also do shaves as well... I'd love to go back and try one. If they can shave a guy like me half as well as they can cut hair, you can expect to see me on the cover of GQ. I'm typically the type of guy that waits 2-3 months between haircuts, but honestly - I might go back more often because I like the cut so much. 5 Stars. read more

I have been here twice and had a good experience each time. The first time I saw Steve and the second time I saw Dayna. They are both friendly, competent, and gave me the type of haircut I asked for. The second time I went I came straight from getting my hair butchered by a guy over at A Barbershop (my stupid attempt to save 5 dollars) and luckily Dayna managed to take me as a walk-in since she had a no-show. I was so grateful that she was able to salvage my hair and get me looking presentable again. Seriously, a huge thank you to Dayna. I came in quite upset and left feeling way better thanks to her. Needless to say, I learned my lesson and won't be going anywhere but Barber's Den from now on. If you plan on going, I would definitely suggest planning ahead and using their online scheduling. The first time I went I had an appointment, but saw an unlucky walk-in or two find out that they were completely booked for the rest of the day. read more

Even after telling them how quick my haircut takes (it's under 10 min) and that I needed it for "save the date" photos with my recent engagement, they still wouldn't take me. This place is amazing! It has and does everything that you would be looking for from a barber shop, and more. The atmosphere is very cool, mellow and fun. The owner really did this place right in terms of style and set up. I had the pleasure of the owner (Evan) do my cut, and my beard...lets just say he killed it on all fronts! Evans sense of business and how to treat customers is top notch. I came as a walk in and they were busy but he told me he would take me but I would just need to wait a little bit if that was ok with me. Well it was ok with me and I waited. (Keep in mind this place closed at 8 this day) well at about 7:50 he took me and stayed late to take care of me. What I liked best about Evan and this shop is that I received the same quality of service as if he started on me in the middle of the day as opposed to 10 min before closing. This is a fantastic barbershop: cool, friendly, reliable, online booking, very reasonable fees. The cutters are artists and so is the shop. I am with hair artist Dayna who is incredible. Highly recommended !! I have followed Dayna from her prior salon and really like the casual yet highly professional and creative atmosphere at Barbersden. Dayna is a very thoughtful and artistic hairartist. She is very responsive and friendly, while also very creative. I have not had anybody else style my hair for several years. Dayna's colleagues at Barbersden seem similar attentive and artistic as they work with their clients. The online scheduling option is great. The Barber's Den Belmont is the first barbershop I ever set foot upon after years and years of going to chains like Supercuts. The cuts are generally more than I like to spend on myself but I feel like they're worth it and I like supporting a neighborhood shop. Business must be good because I schedule my next cut as soon walk out the door after one. Evan's an awesome guy - has a real down-to-earth personality and seems like the sort of guy who can't be ruffled. He's always great at listening to what I want and is always inclined to personalize a haircut for me - I trust him with my head. I can honestly say I've never had a bad haircut at either location. I am so happy that Evan opened a new location that takes appointments. These guys really know how to give a good hair cut. That said I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair until Evan started to cut my hair. I have really fine hair and have never really been good at styling it. Went to check this neighborhood place out based on some good reviews here and elsewhere. My big mistake was believing that they welcomed walk-ins. Got there just as they opened and it was packed. Was told that they would be able to take me in 25 minutes. I chose to wait and then appointment after appointment kept coming in and an hour later I said forget it. The women who told me that she would take me in 25 minutes disappeared into the back instead of taking me! Would rather have just been told that they can't do it, rather than waste my time.
