I was very excited to finally treat myself to a color, cut and style after always putting my daughters first. I had heard great things about this salon so couldn't wait to freshen up my hair!! I asked for some caramel along with different tones of brown chunks hidden beneath my dark hair. I've done this for years but wanted to go a bit bolder as in chunkier and lighter..so more blond tones..etc..I left it up to the hair stylist's discretion to have fun with..I felt since it was the owner of a salon I've heard such great things about I should be able to trust her judgement..I'm attaching pictures of the results..Chrissy the owner was the one who did my color cut and style..she hadn't mentioned that the bottom portion of my hair was burnt off. When I got home I noticed my hair was burnt off so I as I'm sure anyone could understand was upset and called the salon. When I asked her about it, she told me that wasn't the case when I left the salon, I explained she cut my hair after processing the color and styled it but I wasn't honest enough to tell me how she had severely damaged my hair. After much back and forth she finally accepted responsibility. She then stated that I obviously wanted her to do something about it since I was calling her and asked what it was I wanted her to do. I told her I was looking for suggestions on what to do to repair it and or make it least noticeable. She offered to give me some shampoo. I guess it would be an understatement to say how let down I was by my experience I had so looked forward to. I bought a box of brown hair color and colored the areas and bobby-pinned the burned areas each time I pulled my hair back. read more

I had tried different styles with Silva, I had a long (boring) hair and came here and Silva transformed my hair with an Ombre style (California highlight) I received so many complements, because my hair had a natural look and then I want to try something different and yes! So happy to have found a new waxing person in Elin after seeing someone else for 8+ years. I wish I had ventured out sooner, and who knew this place was in my own backyard, minutes from my house. Elin came so highly recommended from other reviewers that I had no concerns it would be less than fantastic, and she definitely exceeded my expectations. She clearly knows what she is doing, made me feel very comfortable and we chatted the whole time that I didn't realize we were totally done since it was so fast! I appreciate their hours as well, so convenient to be able to squeeze something in after work. I have gone to American Day Spa for a number of services including haircuts, massages, and manicures. I think the people are very friendly and I have been pleased with all the services I received. The prices are reasonable as compared to other spa's around the area. I have not been able to get a same day appointment, so some planning ahead is in order. The place itself is quite nice, although it has a small waiting area, so on busier days, it feels a bit cramped. I think the prices fall into the average range as far as spa services go. I highly recommend a massage. I feel this is their best service! read more

I've been there a few times and seen Melanie for haircuts, and Elin for waxing...they're both great, and very professional! The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff is very friendly. Prices are pretty reasonable. A couple minor "cons"- I do wish that the waiting area had a few more chairs, and parking can be a bit tough sometimes. read more

I've been all over and followed reviews looking for a decent place in the Boston area that offer a men's Hollywood and most if not all have sadly have been disappointing . Everyone I knew was going to this place in Brookline which had great buzz but wound up being terrible (ingrown hairs / extreme pain / even band aids were involved ) my friends were stuck going there since few places offer waxing for men. Soooo one day after asking the 900th spa if they waxed men only to be shunned once again like some freak, a woman leaving heard me ask and said "go to American day spa and ask for Elin she's the best!" So off I went expecting medieval pain and torture with lackluster results but no that didn't happen because Elin is the rockstar of waxing!! Elin is fast ! Elin is accurate! (very important here) The pain is minimal ! Soy based wax! (Less redness the absolute best) No freaking ingrown hairs!!! Best of all Elin is funny as hell and will def keep your mind off of what's going on while she's doing her thing. I have never had a Brazilian before (I usually just shave) but with a broken wrist, I can't do much on my own to groom so I decided to suck it up and do it. Elin was amazing, I was in and out the door within 15 minutes with a fantastic wax! She knew it was my first time and was so nice and talkative, which really helps distract you! Elin is completely capable. You can trust her with your brows. But $16? Holy cow! For that money they could at least give me hard wax, or some camomile lotion, or a cocktail... I don't get haircuts that often, and when I have gotten my hair done since moving to Boston 6 years ago, I'm usually disappointed. The hairdresser I left in Maine is just that good. I went to ADS this past week to get my hair cut and got Katya as my hairdresser. She is really friendly, funny, and easy to talk to - but more importantly, really listened to what I wanted and I left with a great haircut. I'll definitely be going back to her! The only thing I didn't like was that you can't leave a tip on your debit card - I had to go to the bank the next day and bring Katya her tip the day after my haircut. So definitely bring cash for your tip! Looking forward to trying other services offered here as well. Quick update - Katya is no longer at ADS but the girl who cut my hair (Karissa I believe?) was nice and Elin, who did my eyebrows, was very talented. read more

Judging by my previous yelp reviews, I'm maybe a little bit picky when it comes to nail services. My feeling is that if I'm paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $50, the end product should be superior to something I could produce myself with a file and bottle of CVS cheap stuff. That being said, I decided to try this place for a mani/pedi because it's so close and the place I have a Groupon for couldn't take me until Tuesday (that might be another review). My nails are now round (they weren't before), and the part of the cuticle that isn't supposed to be there is painted over. One of the redeeming factors, as another reviewer mentioned, is that the manicurist herself is delightful. However, having come away with polish with little bubbles and an otherwise amateur job, I definitely will not be returning. read more
