5 STAR EXPERIENCE I walked into the shop on my day off not knowing what to expect. I was seated in under 5 minutes and was met with a great barber who discussed what I would like to have done. Grant is super friendly and did exactly what I asked for. He is a great listener. We had a great conversation throughout the cut, and I felt very at home and at ease.Too many times I have walked out of a shop feeling like I wasted money, but Grant really pays attention to detail. I usually keep my hair long, but I cleaned it up a bit, maintaining both the sharpness and length I look for in a cut. Grant did exactly that, and I couldn't be happier. The price was very reasonable, considering the how great the experience was. The shop feels very old school and vintage, like something you'd see in traditional barbers in the city or Staten Island. The bathroom is clean and well kept. The entire shop has a great atmosphere. It's also in a great location to grab food or do some local shopping. It is in the heart of Englishtown on Main street, and is surrounded by historical buildings and unique shops. Overall, Grant's shop was very accessible and welcoming. To start off, this was my first time visiting the shop since I have moved to Freehold. The drive is only about 7 minutes from my house and was very easy to find. The environment was very organized and clean. Went in looking for a standard shape up and was really pleased with the outcome. My barber Grant really listened to how I wanted it to look and had no problem making any adjustments I wanted. His eye for detail is great and you can tell he loves his job. Grant is a very friendly person and did my hair excellent. Not too many people go the extra step, but he gave me all the time and focus into this style, which I appreciate, because I can be quite picky with who buzzes my hair. I just want to take a moment to say what a great experience it was at Barbers on Main in Englishtown. My son was in desperate need of a haircut! But he is not a fan of getting his haircut, he never likes it afterwards & is always upset he cut it. (his last haircut was pre-pre-Covid lol) On a whim I called Barbers on Main. Grant (the owner) was able to get my son in for an appointment the same day. He listen to what my son wanted & didn't want; giving him an absolutely great haircut. My son looks like a different kid... but he's still adorable lol. Grant is an awesome barber & was very personable with a 17-year-old who had much trepidation about a haircut. We will definitely be frequenting this establishment again & again! PS---if you're a fan of Elvis & the 50s you will absolutely love this quaint shop... he really nailed it. read more

Great all around experience. Grant answered the phone for my appointment request warmly and was able to get me in sooner than I had requested. When I arrived, I was greeted with a hello, handshake, and introduction. Very professional. Then he got to it, asking me about my preferences to the cut as we talked, and I enjoyed the conversation we had. I liked what I saw in the mirror afterwards, and the Clubman's powder on the brush at the end was a classic touch that i miss from when I was a kid. Handshake at the end. Shop was clean, and just some local news playing on the TV. Contrasts the neighboring barber shops in Englishtown, Monroe, and Freehold by far with it's professional and friendly environment. I came here not expecting a lot, but was surprised with my experience. The place was clean and well kept. While I waited to be seen I had a chance to use the restroom (looked clean) as well as look around for a couple of minutes. The walls had a lot of artwork and records on them, and one rare album that caught my eye of elvis. After that I was seated and before we started the cut, my barber got to discuss with me what I would get done. My barber(didn't catch his name) talked to me for a little bit about what I wanted, mostly a shape up, with a bit of styling at the top, not quite a fohawk, but similar to that. Great local shop, family run and so accommodating and friendly. There were two barbers there, the owner cut my son's hair and was very gentle and caring during the whole process. I will only go here now. I was a little bit weary since I saw a previous review, they explained to me they had a worker with, well let's just say some "issues" that doesn't work there anymore. Stopped in a few weeks ago without an appointment and only waited about 7 minutes!!!! Barber shops are usually busy so an appointment is always a good idea for future refernce. Grant did an awesome job and my fade came out exactly how I wanted. He even made a couple suggestions that I went ahead with!!!! This is what I need in a barber. I had a very good experience at Barbers On Main. Great music. Great Staff. I waited maybe 2-5 minutes with one person ahead of me. On a hot summers day the place was well air conditioned and clean. Grant was my barber and did a fantastic job. Very neat and professional. I was not in the chair long and the price was great. Any other shop will run you around $25-35 bucks with a longer wait, but this cut was around $16. This was a good vibe. read more

I've been coming to Grant for about two years now and it feels like a hangout whenever I'm in his chair. The haircuts are of the highest quality, I'm never waiting more than five minutes before he's ready and he always seems to take a keen interest in ALL of his clients. Came down on a school break looking for a new place to get my hair cut, and was really happy I found this place. I was taken in quickly and left with exactly what I wanted.
