1 Star Unfortunately, my experience at Barbers on the Lake was extremely disappointing. After sitting down to receive a haircut, I asked the cashier why he seemed grumpy however he is the owner, this inappropriately got him upset, abruptly asked me to leave in front of a full shop, without any explanation or courtesy. His tone was unnecessarily loud and dismissive, repeatedly stating his right to refuse service. The interaction was unprofessional and entirely lacking in basic customer care or respect. While the shop appears to stay busy, it seems that steady business has come at the expense of customer service and professionalism. An attitude of "I do not need your kind here". I'm leaving this review with mixed feelings. My first experience at this barbershop was great--Osvaldo did an amazing job and really knew what he was doing, which is why I came back. Unfortunately, my second visit was a huge letdown. This time, I had an appointment with a different barber (a lady whose name I didn't catch), and it honestly felt like she didn't know how to cut with scissors at all. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted, something simple and clean, and what I got was nowhere near it. She completely missed the mark and ruined the shape of my haircut plus I have never pay so much money for a haircut which it was 63 dollars!!! I really had high hopes for this place based on my first visit, but this second experience left me very disappointed. If you go, I definitely recommend asking for Osvaldo, because at least he knows what he's doing. read more

We made last minute appointments today for two kid hair cuts and a beard trimming. Rey and Crystal did the boys and Arain did my husbands beard- and he was super impressed. Update - my former barber "Luis" is no longer at this establishment. However, Diane refered me to Crystal who does a great job. She listens attentively and provides you the type of haircut you want. She takes her time and does not rush and made sure it is done right. I asked her to make me look good and the chances of that is very slim to none. Asked for a simple mid fade and small trim on top and I would honestly say the guy they call (rain ) did a horrible job never again will I go there. I shouldn't of paid for it but we did. 1st picture is a hat we asked for second pic is what we got and a patch cut out. Horrible experience never again. Stopped in without an appointment to try to get a quick haircut. I had to wait a few minutes but was taken care of quite quickly. The haircut I got was spot on. The guy who cut my hair (Rain was his name I think) did a great job and I was out the door rather quickly. The place is nice with plenty of seating. I asked the Spanish woman who answered the phone how her morning was going, and she let out a loud sigh sucked her teeth and said, "what can I help you with sir". I don't expect to have a red carpet rolled out for me, but what I do expect is when I call a business that is in the hospitality industry not to be treated like an inconvenience over the phone by its employees. Today was my first time at this barbershop. The shop is very clean. There was a young man constantly sweeping the floor to ensure it was clean for the customers. The shop has a man cave to wait for your appointment and also comfortable chairs in the front. My appointment was with Warren. He is very friendly and took time to understand how I wanted my hair cut and goatee trimmed. I have to admit, this is THE BEST HAIRCUT I have ever had. The cost for everything was very economical. I wanted to treat my son to a haircut and we were meeting a friend for dinner at a restaurant a couple of businesses over from Barbers on the Lake, so we decided to give them a try. When we walked in, it seemed apparent that they have primarily an African American clientele, but being a barber shop, I figured they SHOULD be able to do any men's or boys haircuts. We weren't taken to a chair right away, even though there was an available barber, though to be fair, it wasn't a long wait. The available barber was sitting in the front waiting area, not helping anyone else... maybe he want sure why we were there, not being African American like they're used to? At any rate.... I explained to the man what we usually do and he got started. After his first pass with the clippers, I knew we had a major misunderstanding, but at that point I had to let him keep going, as there was a huge swath of hair missing. I don't know if he is simply unused to cutting Caucasian hair or was unsure of exactly what we wanted (in which case he should have asked for more clarification?), but he wasn't doing what we asked and was also VERY slow. He also spent almost the whole time ( we were there almost an hour) talking on his phone or talking to another man who came in during my sons cut. I was shocked as I watched him cut, as he was doing such strange cutting, like I've never seen before, and certainly not what I asked for. My son was nearly in tears throughout and finally asked to talk to me outside. He said he couldn't sit there anymore, that the man was being so rough his head hurt so badly and he just couldn't do it anymore. He'd gone to the restroom at one point and told me he'd gone in there to cry. My son stayed outside the door and I went back in and told the barber he was done and handed him back his cape, etc. He said ok and then rang me up at $20, which while isn't overly expensive... I was quoted $17 on the phone before we went in. My son hates his haircut - he wanted to stop before it was even done he was hurting so much, though I'm not sure the man would have even finished it well if we'd have stayed. On top of being overcharged, because I don't suck, I gave him a $4 tip just for his time even though the experience was awful. If they're not used to or comfortable with cutting Caucasian hair I wish he'd have just said so, or offered a different barber. They also all need to get together and make sure the price they quote people is the price they charge. I'm utterly disappointed, overpaid, and now have to fix my sons hair anyway - AFTER he has to go to school with a haircut he hates because I don't have time to do it before bed. They may be good with African American hair (watching the other barbers, it seemed like they were doing very well with those cuts), but if you're not AA.... I do NOT recommend trying this place.
