Barcuso Social Club has quickly become one of my favorite finds in Upland. Their new speakeasy addition, The Copper Room, has a warm, intimate vibe with a lot of character, and you can tell it was put together with real intention. What stood out most was the staff. I felt welcome from the moment I walked in, and that same warmth carried through the whole room. Guests were chatting with each other, there was laughter everywhere, and it just felt like a place where everyone belongs, not just another bar you're passing through. We were really excited to try Barcuso after seeing so many great reviews and videos online. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite. We came in with a group of 4 adults and 3 kids. The moment we walked in, both the staff and several people in the kitchen just stared at us, which immediately made us feel uncomfortable. We were told to "sit anywhere" and that there was outdoor seating, but it was extremely hot outside, so we chose a small table in the corner inside. After sitting down, we waited about 10 minutes and not a single person came to our table. We weren't greeted, offered water, handed menus, or even acknowledged with a simple, "We'll be right with you." There were several employees working--servers outside and multiple people in the kitchen--yet no one ever approached us. The lack of service was disappointing, but what made it worse was how unwelcome we felt from the moment we walked in. The looks we received made us feel like we didn't belong there, and that isn't how any customer should feel when trying a new restaurant. We eventually got up and left to eat next door, where we were immediately welcomed and served. My family and I were invited to a 50th birthday party at this restaurant/bar. The event was held in the large, outdoor patio to the rear of the location. Over one hundred guests attended the party. The entire event and experience were fun and memorable. The bar area and the outdoor patio were vast, clean, and well-maintained. The outdoor area offered guests cabana-like seating with very comfortable padded chairs, as well as bar-like tables. Employees were very hard-working, friendly, and super nice. The food, which consisted of salad, lasagna, and pizza, was EXCELLENT!! And full of flavor. The adult beverages were well-made and easily available from the waiters and waitresses. This place was pretty busy for an early Saturday evening. There's a nice little bar and some seating up front as well as an outdoor patio. I saw a secret door on the left side of the bar that seemed to be a speakeasy and only reason I knew it was, I saw people coming in an out. I asked about it, and tone of the gents that works there handed me a black card with a key. The other side had a scan code and you make reservations for that spot. We came solely for drinks. Our bartender Stephen was absolutely fantastic. Although they were busy, he made sure we got our drinks correctly and as soon as he was able to. I let him know the weekend before, I had tried the best espresso martini I've had in Newport. I tried one at Barcuso as well and it was not bad at all. Definitely top 10 for me. He offered to make me another to challenge the top spot for expressing martinis and I accepted. However, we had dinner reservations and had to come back at a different time. The pizza here was delicious. We ordered the Zio, featuring pepperoni, basil, and hot honey--the flavors were spot on, and the crust had that perfect balance of chew and crunch. If I were rating on food alone, this would be a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. The atmosphere was great, featuring a cute bar up front and a large, comfortable back patio. We caught a live set by Zone Trooper Charlie, who played a fantastic two-hour gig outside. While most seating is comfortable, some of the plastic wicker-style chairs could be improved. This service--or lack there of--is where the experience fell short. While the staff was friendly, they were clearly overwhelmed by the Friday night crowd. The salad never arrived, we waited 30 minutes for water, and we had to hunt down our pizza after 45 minutes because it was never delivered to the table. Additionally, the beer list was IPA-heavy with few other options. The owner seemed genuinely nice and was walking the floor checking on guests. Went after having some beers at Rescue Brewery. It was earlier in the night so there weren't many people there but it definitely picked up as the night progressed. The bartender was really nice and all the cocktails we tried were amazing. The bartender was very responsive to any questions we had and was willing to help us with our drink selections. He was more than happy to just make a classic smoked old fashioned instead of a fancier cocktail. And even that old fashioned was amazing. We did not try the pizza but it smelled great and looked delicious when the table next to us ordered it. I would definitely return and try more drinks and their pizza! read more

Okay I came here once years ago but I don't live in the area and haven't been back for awhile, but I remember having a great experience. I'm mainly writing this review because I sat in front of Joey the owner at a Dodger's game on Monday and my gf and I were cracking up the entire game. If Joey wasn't in the bar business he would absolutely crush it as a stand-up comedian. I had had my eyes on Barcuso on Yelp and Instagram for quite some time and finally had the chance to try it out. We went to try it out on a Saturday while a World Series Dodger game in as on. I was curious to try the pizza with the pears on it also but they wouldn't let us do half and half. I'll have to visit again to try that one out. The only option they had was cauliflower so we had to pay the up charge which seems kind of unfair. You would think they would just make a complementary. They ran out of pizza crust. However, the pizza came out cold. 2x. They had to remake another one for us, but it's taking way too long. This is frustrating especially when you're hungry. We just stopped for drinks on the weekend, was a bit busy but we got seating easily even tho the bar was full. Despite that, the bartender was great. The Staff was Amazing, and the initial intro was based on my phone call to inquire about patio seating etc. upon entrance hubby and I were greeted as if our business mattered to them.
