HAPPY HOUR everyday from 3-6pm & 9pm-close! I tried their ribeye and carnitas à la carte tacos. I definitely preferred the carnitas over the ribeye. The meat was tender and flavorful. Their LP margarita was also tasty. The interior is cute. I love the warm ambiance. There's even a disco ball inside and our waiter told us they have live music sometimes.

We had a great time here! We just moved to the area and wanted to try something new. Glad we found this spot! The food was delicious and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful. We will definitely be back with friends soon!

My wife and I came here for date night with a couple of friends last night and we absolutely loved our visit at La Popular. They played great music without it being overwhelmingly loud. The decor is very chic and upscale, perfect for date night. The staff were great. We didn't have a reservation and were still able to get seated fairly quickly. We came in at a little shy of 8pm. Our server Dom was great. He had a great personality. Very professional but had a warm and inviting personality. He gave us great recommendations and made sure we were taken care of throughout the entire evening. The food was great. My wife and I shared the ahi tuna tostadas for an appetizer and had the carne asada plate as our entree. Both really tasty. We paired our meal with a Oaxaca Old Fashioned and Hibiscus Margarita. Solid drinks. We'd definitely recommend this place and would love to return to try more of the menu. Thank you for a great evening Dom and team La Popular.

First time coming here everything was excellent service was friendly with a lot of great options. Tried each of their taco options on special, ribeye, Carnitas, street corn. It was very good atmosphere was perfect. I would come back to try other dishes.

Cute restaurant in Claremont. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and decided we wanted to try someplace new. The interior is cute and the mood lighting definitely sets the ambience. The hostess was incredibly nice. Our waitress was nice. To start, I got the desert rose and my husband got the empire at dusk cocktail. The desert rose was refreshing and my husband enjoyed his. We got the salsa flight to start off. It comes with Salsa Llorona, Salsa Toreado, Salsa Lorenza, Avocado Salsa Verde. I love spicy and oh boy, their spiciest one definitely packs a punch but is so delicious. The toreado has soy sauce and sesame oil which definitely gives it an Asian twist. I got the street corn tacos which were delicious. As a vegetarian, it is hard to find good veggie tacos and I very much enjoyed these. super flavorful. My husband got the Baja shrimp tacos and the ribeye tacos. He thought his were okay, the shrimp were better than the ribeye. While not his favorite tacos, he did enjoy them, but will likely try something else if we come back. All in all, a great date spot and would recommend for the vibes.

THE go to spot in Claremont for a nice lunch or dinner. the ambiance is sensual, fresh, modern, and lively. perfect for a date or catch up eorh your friends. chips and salsa is included. AHI TUNA TOSTADA: yummy! perfect for 2 people. great appetizer. tuna was good, and the spicy mayo on top of the tostada was the perfect mix of crunch and savory. ENCHILADA (chicken): very filling! comes with rice and beans. I'd get this if you like saucey food but a light flavor.

I'm on a mission to eat at every restaurant in the village. This place is pretty new and tonight was finally the night I got to check it out. The vibe is pretty intimate with dark lighting and the bar is in the center. It took a while for us to be seated as nobody was at the hostess booth. Once the hostess walked up she did get us a table fairly quick. The food was delicious and priced pretty fair. It's not a traditional Mexican restaurant but it is good. The happy hour special was a deal though! A modelo and tequila shot for only $11! I will be coming back Forsure!

Came on a Friday for date night. Loved the ambiance. Service was great. Our server Brian C. was very eager to serve and help us. It was kind of funny. We ordered the salsa sampler and it was amazing. I loved the uniqueness of the salsa toreado. I couldn't stop eating it, even when my mouth became on fire. The weeping salsa was also delicious, but made my mouth burn. The other two salsas were yummy and more mild. For my main meal, I got the mole enchiladas. The Mole was delicious! I wanted more, not because I was hungry, but because it tasted that good. Their margaritas were tasty as well and had, in my opinion, the right amount of alcohol. Not too strong, but not weak. Definitely recommend for drinks with friends or even a date night. The music inside is a little loud if you're wanting to talk a lot, but there is a patio outside that's quieter.

This restaurant is part of downtown Claremont, connecting with the same plaza as Phil's Coffee. There is a tiny lot for them, but for the majority, you'd have to find street parking which is absolutely horrific in a Friday night. I've luckily found parking on the street near the entrance. Upon walking in, you'd be amazed at the decor and interior it's beautiful whether you sit inside or outside of the patio. It's dimly lit, giving a sophisticated ambiance. I've been here twice, but each time, the servers mention only being able to sit there for 2 hours. They do have a bar area which encompasses the entire building, which is nice. They have happy hour which I've had their tacos and beers. I usually get their IPAs for $6 in happy hour days (from 3 - 6 PM). Food here is decent and not too bad. Drinks are great for their prices. Chips are refillable and their salsa is always refreshing. My rating stems from service and comfortability. The servers here tend to feel disingenuous with their service. They seemed forced to smile and don't want to be doing their job. I feel uncomfortable and can't quite explain what it is. Again, I've only been here twice, but I truly never think about coming here; I only come because of work outings. If I didn't need to, I probably wouldn't step foot in this place. Besides the interior being great, nothing compels me to come here.

My friend invited me here for dinner, it was my first time and I loved it. The rice was so delicious, as well as the shrimp enchiladas. My friend got the ceviche & it was delicious, super fresh. I had a vodka tonic and michelada & my friend had some watermelon cocktail. Our servers Alex, Alexia & Dom were amazing. It was a busy night but our food came out so fast and the atmosphere was perfect. Looking forward to coming back soon!

This is a very modern hip place. Definitely a place to celebrate your birthday at, or come with girlfriends to their amazing happy hour! They were playing Spanish rock when we were there along with some tasteful regatón. We appreciated that it was not too loud, we were able to talk to each other without shouting. The service was great! We sat at the bar and got to enjoy a couple HH drinks. And an appetizer while our party got there. The bartender was friendly and suggested one of the margaritas, which was a hit! Our server was a cowboys fan so that was a plus lol But seriously, she was attentive & friendly. We ordered a few appetizers an our entrees, that at the end, it was too much food. Everything we ordered was very tasty, enough and flavorful. The tortilla soup was delicious! Definitely recommend this place. It dos give "Polanco MXCD vibes"

Carajillo, yum!! If you like Espresso Martinis, you will like this one.

My first time experiencing La Popular and it was pretty great! This is a nice, modern restaurant located in downtown Claremont. If you are in the mood for Mexican cuisine, this is a good spot. We came here last minute on a busy Saturday afternoon and fortunately for us, we were seated right away. ( We requested outdoor table/party of five.) We started out with traditional fresh Guacamole and fresh chips. I will stress and repeat, the chips not only looked fresh but they tasted fresh! And, they were not greasy! The guacamole had a good blend of flavors, it was good! My main order was their house salad with chicken. The chicken was moist, very well seasoned and delicious! The salad had fresh chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, romaine lettuce..It's served with lime vinaigrette and yes, dressing was well balanced. I also ordered a Carajillo to drink. The best way to describe this drink is comparing it to an Espresso Martini without the Espresso. This was delicious!! I recommend trying. Our waitress and service were stellar throughout our time here which added to our experience at La Popular. With that being said, be ready to enjoy the moment, the food, the vibe, and the service. *menu price $$ *menu price with cocktails $$$ *parking can be challenging on weekends

First and only time eating here for lunch with family. All was good! I would definitely return to dine here again. Food was a hit: guacamole and chips (freshly made, crispy & light chips), carnitas taco plate topped with pickled red onions, fish tacos (daughter said it was good), mole enchilada (SIL's favorite). Cocktails: group watermelon margarita, which is served in a pineapple shaped pitcher and shared. Pour into glasses filled with ice cubes, a touch of mint leaves and glasses are rolled in tajin for the saltiness. It was yummy. Two of us got two glasses each from it. At $38 for the pitcher seems reasonable. Decor: high ceilings that show off wooden rafters. Dark and cozy. Big bar. Big outside covered patio area too. Nice place with good food and drinks.

They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought. I thought the menu looked delicious and there were several things I would like to come back and try and I would go back again.

Plenty of parking spaces, it opens at 7pm so it feels early when it's still light out. They play a lot of oldies, 80s and 90s songs. I kind of felt out of place not knowing a lot of the older songs. Younger folks might have a tough time following along the songs. If you want your song played it's like a $20 payment unless no one is there and you might get away with under $20. That accept cash and Venmo. They have a full bar for drink orders and a menu for bar food like pizza, burgers, and fries. Don't have high expectations for the food. You're here for the piano music. You can put in special requests at the beginning of the night to highlight someone's birthday and they might get called up on stage. Or pay $100 and get to sing your song on stage. Overall it's a try once of your life experience or if you like every song in piano format.

We absolutely love this place and decided to come for our anniversary. I'll preface this by saying…read morethe food taste was amazing, like always. But some shady charges or maybe we'll call it miscommunication just rubbed me the wrong way. I always order the mole chicken enchiladas and my wife (being vegetarian) asks for the same dish but if the enchiladas can be vegetable or cheese. Apparently this means a 8$ up charge? We've done this many times in the past and always been charged the same price for both. I asked the server at the end "the veggie version is 8$ more expensive than chicken?" And he just shrugged and said yes. Just found it interesting that a meat dish would be 8$ less than a purely cheese/veggie dish. Especially since done this in the past with no issue. I also asked for "hot sauce" for my dish. They brought out a spicier house salsa as the hot sauce...totally understandable and the salsa here is usually free. Apparently it's a 4$ "chipotle sauce" that the waiter did not inform me would be charged. I would've easily just said I want tapatio or no "hot sauce". I used maybe a teaspoon for 4$. I told the waiter this when we questioned the bill and he just shrugged. These may seem like small inconveniences but when they seem like they intentionally don't tell you the details and then when called out about it just kinda shrug it off, it was a disappointing end to an otherwise tasty dinner. We love it here and will certainly be back but it just sucks that I have to be extra cautious & skeptical when ordering from now on.

We had lunch/brunch here and had an amazing experience! Andrew was such a spectacular server and even brought a great white wine to go with my ceviche. He accommodated to our party which had children and just provided just such a great experience for my parents 40th anniversary brunch. The menu has a lot of variety without being overwhelming or excessive (I don't trust restaurants that have too much on their menu lol). I ordered oysters, which were on the small side but the flavors they placed on top were amazing. I followed with an entree of ceviche which was generous, DELICIOUS, and nourishing. Our table ordered an array of items: Portuguese scramble, Shakshuka, Hugo's rotos con Jamon, the branzino, breakfast pizza, Italian breakfast sandwich, French toast- each one exceeding all expectations. Playlist was repetitive but fun for me, a millennial drinking mimosas and white wine lol.

Once we were seated, he came over and asked us what we would like to drink and suggested making a special beverage and it was delicious! Food was good and our server was very attentive and took great care of our party of 8. My favorite dish of the night was my hamachi collar bone! It was light and the watermelon salad was refreshing. The reason for the 4 stars was the pricey drink prices and they boxed up our chicken but somehow mixed it up and we came home with a dessert instead!
