We are currently researching plans for our own wind phone and had wanted to see an example of one already in use. The paved trail winds around behind the ball fields and then becomes a mulched path into the woods. The path is fairly steep and passes by a clearing with a circle of log seating and then continues down a hill until it reveals a creek. Turning to the left, the trail continues and we soon find the box for the prior wind phone installation; however, it seems that vandalism took place because the rotary dial phone is missing. Nice trails and difficulty rating is mild to moderate walk, The hope is to return sometime again soon and that the wind phone installation will be restored for use. Very large paved parking lot. Porta-potty restroom facilities. Multiple well-maintained ball fields.

It's hard to hate any park. This park is another hit and if you're in Danville, it's a must stop…read more Every time I'm in the area, I always stop here. This park starts off with numerous baseball fields which I assume that little leagues use throughout the summer. Spread out around the park are a few small children's playgrounds. The organized sports and fun for the kids: Check! Near the middle of the park there is this decent sized pond with a fountain. Also ducks! Lots of ducks! Different ducks! Friendly ducks! Did I mention there are ducks? Benches and swings are all around the pond. It's the perfect place to take a daytime date to relax. Date/Nature/Pond: Check! On one side of the park and out of the way you'll find a small skate park. It is tiny and they really should expand it for the skaters in the area. They have more than enough room and it's hard to find great places to skate. Alternative activity space: Check! On the other side is a paved path that circles the park. It's a great path, but I wish it wasn't just a flat and winding path. They should install more trees or other things to admire. This path is surrounded by grass and only grass. I think this park could benefit from more trees, plants, and flowers. There is a gazebo on one side of the park in this area. There is also a dog park tucked away. The only reason this park gets a 4 instead of a 5 is because of wasted space. There's a lot of underutilized space that could be made beautiful here. I'm surprised anytime I talk to someone from the area and they have no idea that the park exists. Everyone from Danville and the surrounding area should use this park! No excuses!

I've even looked up in the trees and caught a glimpse of an individual climbing high up in a tree! There is also a beautiful pond with a fountain. Sports complex - There are two baseball diamonds with covered dugouts for the players and bleachers for spectators. Adjacent to the diamonds are two regulation sized soccer fields with goals. There is also fields appropriate for younger athletes. Central to the complex is a concession stand run by volunteers in the community. A wide variety of beverages as well as snacks are offered. Some of these include sodas, juice, water, hotdogs, pretzels, nachos & warm cheese, etc. There are restrooms located in the same building as the concession stand. 2. Rachel's Fun For Everyone Park - This past year RFFEP became a reality to our community as well as its founder, Rachel Ritchie. The park is fenced in so as to contain the children and prevents them from running into the parking lot. The intention of the park is for our special needs friends within our town and neighboring towns as well. The equipment includes swings, slides, a rock-wall, seated zip-line, seesaws, tactile toys, benches and most importantly a soft surface pad to protect our friends from injuring themselves and allows wheelchairs/motorized/walking aides to travel safely from each piece of equipment. The park is for all of our little friends. 3. Parking - There are parking options available adjacent the park as well as the outside perimeter fence surrounding the soccer and baseball fields. 4. Picnic tables and over head cover are available for picnickers and travelers and are adjacent to recreational vehicle hookups. There is plenty of shade, walking areas and a stream that runs parallel to the park where people often fish. Each year the park hosts Vine Grove's Fall Festival, Bluegrass Festival, organized run/walks and other events. The only reason why I rated Optimist Park at four stars is because the bathrooms are small, sometimes messy, not stocked with soap/paper towels and does not offer a changing table.

They have had numerous events such as a music festival and let the local JROTC have an event there. The only issue I have is that the very back of the park is filled with graffiti, some including slurs. They have a soccer field that is maintained fairly well for youth soccer but the baseball field(s) are rarely used except for practice and a local match between police and fire fighters. Overall a good place to visit, but be wary of the loud train that comes by every once in a while. I would rate it 5 stars if it was not for the graffiti.

What they have: a loop that is a bit over 1 mile, tennis courts, playground, huge grassy field for sports practice, baseball field, benches, parking around the loop, and bathrooms. It's a great spot to be with family, friends, or alone. For working out, reading, and relaxing. Not too crowded to enjoy it but you're definitely not alone.

The loop is free of vehicles, but even with the foot traffic of the more crowded times, there's plenty of space to run free. Besides, playing frogger as you dodge into the grass to avoid strollers (or folks traveling in pairs with dogs who stretch across the entire width of the sidewalk) is just a little bonus for your quads. Being a public park, the path is open 24/7. Right in the heart of St. Matthews, it's exactly what you'd expect. It's clean. It's safe. There's a small playground, tennis courts, scattered park benches. Two water fountains, one at each end of the loop -- complete with dog bowls. Nice tall trees offering shade on the loop's exterior, with wide open fields of well maintained lawn and decently maintained kickball/softball fields. Oh.. and horse stables literally across the street. ‍ 4 stars only because of the bathroom situation. If I was reviewing the Seneca Park bathroom alone, I'd give 1 star -- only because they exist, with a roof, lighting and indoor plumbing. The men's bathroom is always disgusting. Not well kept by any means. I don't think the soap dispensers have ever had soap when I visited. Once I did find a small bar of soap (like from a hotel). What if you want to wash your hands? -- spoiler alert: YOU SHOULD WANT TO WASH YOUR HANDS!! There's a 50/50 chance of having hand sanitizer or finding a toilet full of TP/BM and standing water that won't flush. Don't be surprised if there's a puddle around the toilet or a little surprise on the seat. Hep-A & C-Diff, anyone? Gross, I know. I also noticed there are no locks on the stalls. What if you want some privacy? It's hard to blame the Park when this is clearly the doing of people being gross, inconsiderate humans. Gentleman-- like, why?! Do better! In summary, Seneca Park is the perfect place to meet up for a workout or coffee w/ a friend. Definitely use the bathroom before you visit -- or at-least carry hand sanitizer and maybe keep some emergency toilet paper in your car.

They have hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers and fries, nachos, and a pulled pork sandwich. They also have soft pretzels, popcorn, and peanuts. Other items too, but those were part of what I considered buying. Spent around $50 for tickets for 3 people and around $40 on food for three (pretzel, nachos, and chicken tenders and curly fries). Could have done without the food, but no one had dinner before the game. Food and drinks were on par with a stop at Mellow Mushroom before the game. The experience is excellent for families! During the week, games are less crowded. The staff is friendly, and the team is playing quite well - 3 home runs yesterday and posted a W! If attending during the day, don't forget some sunscreen.

There's a whole mini-complex, including a Starbucks & restaurants, stretching the width of the ballpark across a brick walkway. I enjoyed my time immensely. The seats are affordable. It's in my top few overall non-MLB experiences.
